Howard Buzzard, assistant professor of business administration, lost a legal civil suit in which he sued Cabrini College for breach of contract. A six-member jury deliberated for an hour on Dec. 11, 1991 and found that Cabrini had not breached its contract. Buzzard and his lawyer have brought about a post-trial motion, the first step in appealing the jury's verdict, according to President Sr. Eileen Currie. Currie and philosophy professor Dr. Joseph Romano were two witnesses representing Cabrini, along with their lawyer, John Wright, at the West Chester County courthouse on Dec. 9, 1991. Romano was the
vice-president of academic affairs in 1981, the year Buzzard was hired by Romano. Buzzard testified in court that Cabrini had breached its contract when it stopped paying him additional payments he was receiving to build and supervise the business administration's student internship program. The plaintiff Buzzard, a tenured professor, was claiming that a contract had been established by Cabrini and himself in the fall of 1980-81, when he was employed by the college to teach full-time. Before coming full-time to Cabrini, Buzzard was teaching part-time at Eastern College and teaching economics part-time at Cabrini. Romano discussed with Buzzard in the spring of 1980

On Thursday, Dec. 19, 1991, the 21.5 mile north-south highway, known as the Blue Route, was opened to the public. It was four days after the planned opening date of Dec. 15. The road is technically known as Interstate 476. According to various reports from the Dec. 15 edition of the Times Herald and articles from the Philadelphia Inquirer, the idea of the Blue Route was first conceived -'64years ago, though plans were not started until 1956. In the 35 years it took to build the Blue Route, construction was halted in 1974 when a group sued for addi-
tional environmental studies. In 1979,onlyaportionofthehighway was opened--three miles between the Schuylkill Expressway in West Conshohocken and Chemical Road in Plymouth Township. Full construction was resumed on March 15, 1985 when a federal judge granted pennission. Overall, the construction cost between $585-600 million. More money wjll be spent in the future as planned redevelopment for areas along the Blue Route take place. The name of the Blue Route cameaboutquitesimply.
