PROFILE BUSINESS INNOVATION FOR WHOM? The Business Innovation programme is not for the faint-hearted; it takes guts. If you recognize yourself in the following profile, the study will fit you like a glove.

RESPECT RESPECT YOURSELF AND OTHERS WILL RESPECT YOU Business innovation is an international study, where we all have different backgrounds, different beliefs and different ways of communication. We can learn from each other if we give room to these differences and respect them.
Your teacher leads the classes. Respect the decisions of your teacher at all times. If you don’t agree, speak about it later, at the end of the class.
Show respect to everyone involved in school. The teachers, classmates and administration are a part of your daily life. Let’s create a family environment.
Don’t use words you wouldn’t use in front of your mum.
Show respect in your online communication as well.
Respect other classes. Don’t make noise in the corridors or at the Ping-Pong table.
Respect the environment. Clean up after yourself, don’t leave lunch bags anywhere, make sure you don’t leave a mess at the Spacemaker. You are not the only one using the space.
TIME ARE YOU LATE, THEN WAIT As a professional time is important. You can’t be late for appointments of miss deadlines. Learn how to manage time now, to be succesful later. It’s time for time.
Always make time to attend your class. There’s a clear link with good attendance/participation. The classes are all about experiencing and implementing learnings, individually and together. The magic happens there.
Always be present in time for your class. If you are late, you should wait outside the classroom, so you don’t interrupt the class. Wait till the teacher invites you in.
Make appointments if you want to speak to your teacher or anyone else in school. They also work according to a schedule and will find time to fit you in.
When you are working in a group also respect the time of your groupmates. It’s not a social gathering, it’s work. Times often is a source of conflict when working in groups. Avoid this to happen to you.

As a BI student you need to be agile
You need to deal with uncertainty
Don’t take any comments by teachers about your work personal. It’s about your work, not about you.
Learn from your own reactions . This helps you grow and develop your skills.
There may be misunderstandings between students and teachers. Solve it with
TEAM ONE TEAM, ONE DREAM As a professional you will have to work with colleagues, managers and directors. All the different roles are important to accomplish one goal. At BI we train you in this.
Different assignments will involve teamwork.
The secret of successfull teamwork is the sum of respect, tolerance and acceptance.
Get out of your comfort zone and be prepared to change teams for different assignments, you may well be surprised by the competence of someone who is not in your inner circle.
Don’t let one person do all the work, make an effort together. After all, you are graded as a group, not as an individual
Communication is key , also in teamwork
Compose a team of different characters, the different roles will add up to success.
EXAMS NOT BOOK SMART, BUT LIFE SMART At the end of each project you have an exam. In Business Innovation you don’t have any classical exams. An exam means you have to hand in an assignment like a report or presentation. This can be individual or in groups.
Make sure all your assignments fit the assessment criteria given by the teacher.
The criteria don’t only involve the contents. Also the cover page, APA sources, reference list , preparation for class, asking questions in class and homework are part of the credits.
Start as early as possible. You always receive the criteria at the beginning of the term, so you know what you are working towards.

If you don’t agree with your grade contact the teacher and show why you think you passed. If you still do not agree go to the Exam Board at examencommissie.dossier.inholland.nl with an even better motivation.
STUDY PROBLEMS LET’S DEAL WITH THEM Do you have dyslexia, ADHD, Autism or any other kind of medical issues causing study problems? Don’t worry, there are people at InHolland to help.
If you have any reports or declarations from doctors or other professionals, make sure you have a copy.
You can contact the student counsellor at decanaat.diemen@inholland.nl to have your study problems confirmed.
After that you can go to the exam board at examencommissie.dossier.inholland.nl to discuss what options there are for your assignments, like extra time
PERSONAL ISSUES BE OPEN AND GET SUPPORT You may be far away from your family. This doesn’t mean you have to solve everything alone. At InHolland there is a counsellor available to help you with ANY personal circumstances causing you not being able to study.
You can drop in at the counsellor during the open walk-inn hours

You need the student counsellor also if you need and extension or extra chance for an assessment, due to these personal circumstances.
Of course you can always speak to your supervisor about any issue too.
Don’t keep problems for yourself, seek help and act in time, don’t wait till the problem may get bigger.
FRAUD WE WANT TO LEARN WHAT YOU KNOW You make assignments to show what you have learnt. This way we know if you are growing towards your professional life. Stay away from fraud, as this will not help you.
Fraud is any kind of cheating, or stealing someone else’s work. How would you feel if someone uses your ideas or texts without knowing it? Always try to use your own words. Show you really understand what you are doing.
Don’t plagiarize in any way. When you hand in an assignment it is automatically checked by a software system. When the system finds plagiarism you may fail that subject.
If you are caught you will be reported to the Exam Board. The fraud policy can be found in the “General Documents” part of Moodle.
Cheating is not worth it. If you are caught cheating you may even be expelled from school. The exam board is not going to sign your certificate if they do not trust the
