Hillsborough sex offender faces 16 years in jail AN 81-year-old man has been sentenced to 16-years in prison after admitting indecently assaulting five victims in Sheffield. Roger Dodds, of Cotswold Road, Hillsborough, appeared before Sheffield Crown Court on Friday February 3 to receive his sentence after admitting four counts of indecent assault on a man aged 16 or over and one count of indecent assault on a boy aged under 14 years in earlier court hearings. The charges relate to five separate victims, who cannot be named for legal reasons. Investigating officer Detective Constable Stephen Howson said: “Today marks the culmination of a lengthy police investigation into Dodds’ sexual abuse of multiple victims, which spanned the 1970s to 1990s.

PREDATOR: Roger Dodds, now 81, preyed upon victims from the 1970s to the 1990s.

“Our inquiry began in 2014, after we received information from one victim who bravely reported sexual abuse to the NSPCC. “We launched an investigation, which lead to the discovery of other victims of Dodds’ sexual offending. “I hope the positive result at court today encourages other victims of sexual abuse to come forward and talk to someone. “We will always investigate reports of this nature and will do whatever we can to bring perpetrators of this crime before the courts. “If there are other victims out there who are yet to come forward, please know that we are here to listen and support you.”

WENTWORTH Castle Gardens is set to close due to a financial shortfall. The Wentworth Castle and Stainborough Park Heritage Trust, who manage the attraction, announced the shock announcement on Wednesday last week. John Edwards, chair of the Wentworth Castle and Stainborough Park Heritage Trust, said in a statement: “It is with sadness we have decided that the gardens will have to close to the public from spring 2017. “In recent years we have not been able to make enough money to cover the running costs required to manage the site and keep the

gardens open as a year round visitor attraction. “As a result of this, we are working with the support of Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council to manage the closure. “We would like to give assurance that every effort will be made to honour all existing weddings and celebratory events for 2017 and we will contact all parties directly. “We have taken this difficult decision towards a managed closure of the site in the expectation that a sustainable future can be found. “We are working hard to ensure that this beautiful and historic Grade I listed landscape will be

maintained and the gardens preserved for many generations to come. “The trustees would like to say a huge thanks to all the staff, volunteers, friends and others who cherished and improved the gardens and parkland. “Their efforts secured substantial funding to restore the gardens, Victorian conservatory and many 18th century follies and monuments including the rotunda and the Sun Monument. “They should all be very proud of the national recognition their achievements have created”

IF you’re planning on visiting the Penistone Gala and Mayor’s Parade this year then you’d better know your Jawas from your Jar Jar as the theme is going to be Star Wars. Penistone Gala is running two competitions for local school children to tie in with this theme. The first one is for artwork for the Gala brochure. Organisers would like children to draw or design a Star Wars themed picture. They will publish some of their favourites in the Penistone Gala magazine, ahead of the Penistone Gala Weekend which takes place from June 9 to 11. If you would like to enter, please send your entries to PenistoneGala@gmail.com to arrive by 12pm on Friday February 24. Please make sure you also include your name, school and age. The Gala committee would also love children to design and build a Star Wars-inspired model. These will be put on display in the marquee at the Gala on

Sunday June 11. Models should be no larger than 50cm³. Prizes will be given to the winners along with the inclusion in any after event publicity. If you would like to enter, please send details of your name, school and age to PenistoneGala@ gmail.com as soon as possible. Then please deliver your model to the Gala marquee on Penistone Showground on Sunday June 11 between 9am and 1.30pm. Judging will take place at 3pm. If you would like to keep your model, it must be collected by no later than 3.45pm that day. Please make sure details of your name, school and age are included with your model. Unfortunately, the organisers cannot accept liability for any damage caused to any models entered in the competition and they are left at the owners’ risk. Any models which are not collected by 3.45pm will be disposed of.

Drivers reminded to park responsibly after Rivelin Crew find path blocked FIREFIGHTERS are pleading with drivers not to block access to narrow streets by parking on both sides of the road after a fire engine was left unable to reach an emergency. Fire crews were called out to Roebuck Road during the evening of Saturday January 28 to reports of a laundry fire at a nursing home.

The crew from Rivelin station however was unable to reach the incident due to parked cars blocking their way. Instead, a fire engine from Central station had to attend via another route, but lost valuable minutes in reaching the incident. Luckily no one was injured in the fire. As a result, the fire service are urging residents to

think about their parking as they could be putting the lives of their families, friends and neighbours at risk. Area Manager Tony Carlin, Head of Emergency Response said: “Bad parking is a real problem for firefighters. Fire engines require a gap of almost three meters to get through.

“We appreciate that people like to park as close to their property as possible, but please think could a fire engine or other emergency vehicle get through the gap. “With every second counting when attending a fire or road crash it is vital that they can get down streets quickly and safely.

Local News 9 FEB 2017 | Look Local - 943 JUST walking up Jawbone Hill is enough of a test for most hardy Sheffielders. But when The Magnificent Seven cycling event returns for a second time in March, cyclists will be racing as hard as they can up this and six other notorious Sheffield hill climbs. The race, a cross between a sportive and a hill climb, will take place as one of the headline events of The Outdoor City Weekender, running from Friday March 17 to Sunday March 19 in and around Sheffield: The Outdoor City.

Riders to tackle Cote de Oughtibridge in Magnificent Seven

The Magnificent Seven route, which is just over 27 miles long, presents each rider with more than 3,800ft of climbing, with inclines ranging from 9 to 23 per cent. The 2017 route will include the infamous CĂ´te de Oughtibridge, which was part of the 2014 Tour de France Grand Depart. The other challenging climbs include Hangram Lane, Blake Street, West Lane, Hagg Hill, Foxhall Lane and Fern Road/ Thrush Street in Walkley, the latter of those being this year’s infamous “cobbledâ€? section of the route. Cyclists will ride with motorbike escorts and lead cars between each of the seven hills, and then gather at the bottom of each of the hills – which will be closed for the event - before racing for points to the summit. The first 15 to the top then receive points which count towards the grand prize of being crowned King or Queen of the Mountains, for which the winners receive a trophy. Those taking part are set to include last year’s winners, Kieran Wynne-Cattanach and Natalie Creswick along with former professional road cyclist Dean Downing, from Rotherham, who represented Great Britain at the World Track Championships in 2004. Both men and women are encouraged to ride in The Magnificent Seven, with equal prize money for both categories. Women are being especially encouraged to sign up. The ride is aimed at amateur club riders and, as well as capturing the imagination of local clubs, last year riders flocked to Sheffield from across the country to take up the seven hill challenge. All entrants will receive refreshments before and afterwards. The field is limited to 100 cyclists, who must be aged over 16, and places are filling up fast. To sign up, visit the website at www.riderhq.com/ events/72870/the-2017-magnificent-7 Event organiser Marc Etches said: “We are really looking forward to another Magnificent Seven. “Last year’s event was superb and we’re pleased to be able to be part of the Outdoor City Weekender and showcase our great city once more. “The event is unique in the UK and to give the competitors the opportunity to race up traffic-free closed roads, something of which only professional riders have, is a great selling point for the event. “The highlight of this year’s route is the inclusion of the Cote de Oughtibridge - a really special offering as this was used in the 2014 Tour de France Grande Depart. “The route really showcases Sheffield as The Outdoor City and all the riders will be treated to some spectacular views at the top of every climb once they’ve caught back their breath back!â€? Fringe events to take place as part of The Outdoor City Weekender will be announced in the coming weeks and are set to include runs, cycling events, family fun and much more. For more information on the Weekender, visit the website at www.theoutdoorcity.co.uk/outdoor-cityweekender/

CANCER screening is one of our strongest weapons in the fight against cancer. The sooner the cancer is detected, the sooner the cancer treatment will start and the more effective treatment will be. Despite this, many people still shy away from openly talking about cancer, and worryingly cancer screening rates in North Sheffield are some of the lowest across the city. Macmillan Cancer Support are hosting a free of charge event in High Green to address this problem. The charity will be at Thorncliffe Leisure Centre between 11.30am to 2.30pm on Friday February 17. Judith Parker-Dixon is a local High Green resident, she was diagnosed with breast cancer over 10 years ago. She said: “I was lucky my cancer was picked up early at routine screening, I had no signs or symptoms. “We all lead busy lives and no one likes to think about cancer but missing screening appointments could take your life. “I don’t like to think about what would’ve happened if I’d missed that appointment.” The event, which is offering residents a free lunch, will include information stalls and expert speakers. Louise Metcalfe is the Macmillan Primary Care Quality Lead

SUPPORT: Judith Parker-Dixon of High Green caught her cancer early. Nurse, she organised the event and is urging local people to pop in. Louise told Look Local: “We want people to open up about cancer, it is scary but it’s no longer the death sentence it once was. “Our event will look at cancer prevention, living life with and after cancer and helping

people to talk more openly about cancer. “We have so much fantastic support locally, we’ll be there to talk to people about how to live well after cancer. “This isn’t about scaring people; it’s about giving people the facts to take control of their own health.” The drop-in event will look at issues such as

cancer prevention, living life with and after cancer and helping people talk more openly about cancer. Cancer is the toughest fight most of us will ever face and no one should face it alone. Visit www.macmillan. org.uk or call The Macmillan Support Line on 0808 808 00 00.

Exciting range of themed markets planned for Penistone Market Barn AN exciting programme of Saturday markets is planned for Penistone Market Barn in 2017. Starting in February and taking place alongside the regular Saturday markets, a different themed market will take place four times a month. On the first Saturday of the month regular stalls will be joined by a selection of secondhand stalls. This is a perfect place for avid bargain hunters to seek out a few hidden treasures, or have a clutter clear out by booking a stall and turning unwanted items into cash. The second Saturday of every month will feature a range of food and drink stalls which will

vary from month to month as well as offering a selection of delicious cakes, chocolates, chutneys and sauces along with the regular fruit and vegetable stalls. A range of popular arts and crafts stalls, offering unique gifts, handmade cards and gorgeous jewellery will visit the market on the third Saturday of the month. The fourth Saturday is for young entrepreneurs who are provided with stalls to showcase their creative products and talents. Any young person aged 29 or under can attend, selling a wide range of things they have made, up-cycled or bought, including handmade fashions, photography, arts and crafts, jewellery, home baking, gifts and toys.

The market teams are looking for designers, makers, bakers, artists, photographers and anyone else who is creative, as well as singers, rappers, dancers, performers and comedians to take part in these monthly youth events. The weekly Thursday market continues to be a vibrant and bustling, with fresh produce including fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, olives, cheese, eggs, bread and cakes, as well as cards, jewellery clothes, toiletries, sweets and more. routine, recitals and comedy sketches. The hall filled with laughter not only at the comic routines but also at the performances which went a little wrong. No-one panicked and in true showbiz style they carried on or started again. Performers ranged from aged six years to octogenarians. The children who performed came from St Mary’s school, Notre Dame and All Saints. A surprise visitor was Bishop of Hallam, Ralph Heskett of St Marie’s, who only heard about the show on Friday afternoon.

He readily agreed to hand each performer their certificate at the end of the show. Many people helped to bring the evening together, especially Wayne Biggin who compared the show; the ladies who served the refreshments; cake makers; the sweet shop and raffle seller. The program was sponsored by local businesses - Nisa family store; Gorgeous hair and beauty, Cone’s Emporium, Stomp Club for children, Pottering Around and Pets Are Pals, thanks go to all of these. The night ended with many asking when the next one will be. Watch this space…

A PLAGUE OF RATS DESCEND ON THE VENUE

Idle Jack (Derek Tune) and the Sheik (Rob Ainsworth) in a quieter moment.

Str8ts STR8TS

A PLAGUE of rats are coming to The Venue! The question is, can Dick Whittington defeat them? Steel Valley Beacon will be presenting their pantomime – Dick Whittington – at The Venue, Stocksbridge, at the end of February. The cast includes a nasty group of little vermin - almost as nasty as their leader, played by Stuart Ralph – as well as other familiar faces. Mandy Aitken is once again directing the fun-filled show. The pantomime will be performed during half-term week at 7.30pm on Thursday February 23, Friday February 24 and Saturday February 25 with a matinee on Saturday afternoon at 2pm. Matinee tickets, in particular, have sold very quickly for previous shows. They are available from The Venue, Stocksbridge Keys (next to Crawshaws) or on 0114 2884391. No. 315 Adults £8, Children £6 or a family ticket for £24.

Have your say...

Perhaps I can assist Richard Fletcher with his request for clarification on the future of Angram Bank Children’s Centre (LL942)? On the face of it, confirmation that the centre will not close from all three West Ecclesfield Councillors provided him with the reassurance he was seeking; but did any of them explain the plans for the future? I would find it particularly disappointing if Councillor Booker was unable to give the full background, as he sits on the Children, Young People and Family Support Committee. There has been a consultation process in place since the beginning of November 2016 on Council proposals to move from sixteen Early Years Children’s Centres to seven Family Centres throughout Sheffield. The Family Centres will retain their Children’s Centre status to meet the requirements of the Childcare Act (2006). Angram Bank will not be one of the Family Centres. Very few people were aware of the consultation, and I managed to attend the drop-in consultation at Angram Bank on the November 25 2016. I asked specifically about the future of Angram Bank, and the response was that it could be a Linked Centre or services could be delivered through outreach to other community facilities and doctor’s surgeries. Since the beginning of 2017, the Council have confirmed that none of the existing Children’s Centres will close. That means that Angram Bank will operate as a Linked Centre, but there is no clear indication of what a Linked Centre will do? On February 1 this year I attended the monthly meeting of the full City Council and asked public questions on these proposals. In particular, the following question: “Will the Children’s Centres which will not become Family Centres retain their Children’s Centre status as defined under the Childcare Act (2006) and continue to be subject to Ofsted inspection? This question wasn’t answered, but I am waiting for a written response, as the Councillor who

TAK

EA

answered my questions committed to provide me with one. The Childcare Act (2006) “places a specific duty on the local authority to, so far as is reasonably practicable, include arrangements for sufficient provision of Children’s Centres to meet local need. The identification of local need has already been carried out through the establishment of sixteen purpose built Children’s Centres in Sheffield. The responsibility for Children’s Centres’ standards lies with Ofsted who carry out inspections, in the same way schools are inspected. A Linked Centre will no longer be an Ofsted inspected Children’s Centre. With over 1,200 under fives (Ofsted inspection April 2014) registered at Angram Bank, the need for a Children’s Centre is clearly there. Provision of Early Years Children’s Centres is paramount; it ensures that vulnerable children are given the best possible start in life before commencing primary school education. I will continue to campaign for the retention of all sixteen Ofsted inspected Children’s Centres in Sheffield, and in particular Angram Bank. Mike Levery, Grenoside

CCTV From the beginning of the skate park project in High Green, some three years ago, I argued for CCTV to be fitted as part of the project. Half the equipment in the park was already missing due to vandalism plus, we strongly believed the park needed to be reclaimed from a few yobs by the vast majority who simply wish to enjoy one of our open spaces. Once out voted on the CCTV, we set about raising the funds to supply fit and maintain CCTV for Angram Bank Park, clearly stating we were able and willing to meet any conditions set. We were successful in raising the funds.

Now Labour Sheffield Council refuse to grant permission to fit CCTV, a decision made by people who do not live in or even near High Green. This on top of £15,000 in S106 money that was allocated to our parks in April 2016 vanishing and Labour with Lib Dem support allocating at least £15,000 possibly more on a community room benefiting approximately 20 High Greeners, instead of allocating the cash to our parks benefitting thousands directly and indirectly in High Green. It is clear to me that we in High Green are not just being neglected by Labour council, they are actively trying to destroy our community assets. Of course my team’s fighting this decision. David Ogle, Local volunteer

New housing Recently it has come to light about potential housing developments across the valley, all of which seem to be on green belt land and the impact this may have on current infrastructure. The fields off Carr Road/Hollin Busk Lane have recently been marked up as a potential housing site, as have the fields off Townend Lane/Parsonage Farm. I would have thought with the new developments on nearby brownfield sites such as Fox Valley and the one at Station Road, Deepcar, this would be an ample amount of new housing but it seems they are now turning to greenbelt land. And a big concern is the lack of plans on how the local infrastructure will cope, roads, schools, doctors etc. There doesn’t seem to be much talk about upgrading the infrastructure to cope with this new demand. Are there any plans to create better transport links to Sheffield, such as bringing the Supertram to Stocksbridge? I had heard rumblings about the possibility, but would this be completed in time for the developments? The added traffic it would create, it’s already a nightmare at rush hour at Deepcar lights, with a

huge long queue up Carr Road and the constant noise of car horns out of frustration. The doctors are already at full capacity and I find it difficult to get a doctor’s appointment now, I couldn’t imagine when more houses are built. And then the main point of losing the valuable greenery we have in the valley. The visual impact it would have and the impact on local wildlife. Are there any local groups set up fighting this corner? Or a response from the Town Council? I guess when developers have the money to throw at a new development, the objections seem to somehow be ignored. S. Simmonite

Post Brexit I read the letter submitted by Richard Fletcher which seems to be an ongoing feud which I have no desire to become involved in. However one point raised I wish to comment on is the ÂŁ350 million pound emblazoned on the vote leave bus. It was my understanding that this money to the NHS was conditional on us leaving the EU which we have not yet done. So until such time as we do leave and the money is/is not given to the NHS then commenting on this is pointless. It is pounced on by remainers as an untruth which is as yet pointless until the condition of leaving has been fulfilled, after all the government would be fiscally inept to spend the EU subscriptions on the NHS whilst still paying those same subscriptions to the NHS. Yours Faithfully, K. Godley.

CHILDREN at Royd Nursery Infant School recently completed a safety week, where they participated in a range of activities and had external visitors that included a police officer, lollipop lady, paramedic and e-safety coordinator, as well as road safety awareness and fire safety teams. Headteacher, Louise Jones, commented: “It is essential that we teach children how to stay safe whether they’re at home, out and about, or online. “The activities are really well thought out, linked to our curriculum and are delivered in a childfriendly manner.” The police officer spoke about the importance of ‘stranger danger’, and encouraged children to seek help from someone that they can trust (e.g. teacher, emergency services) if they become lost. Pupils were also told about how paramedics keep us safe, and the fire safety talk explained that we must stop, drop and roll if our clothing catches fire. Highlighting the dangers of public highways, the lollipop lady and road safety awareness team explained that corners, bends and parked cars should be avoided when crossing the road. Furthermore, it was explained that pupils should ideally wear bright clothing, as it makes them more visible to road traffic. They were also reminded to always to stop, look and listen before crossing the road. The e-safety coordinator advised that when using the internet, children should only click on links permitted by parents/carers and if something appears that they are unsure about they must check it is okay with their adult. Personal information, such as name, age and address must not be given out because online you can never tell whether a stranger is behind the computer screen. Key Stage 1 teacher, Mr Sly, added: “The practical workshops really helped the children to develop their understanding of the awareness of risks. “It is very reassuring that children have been able to relay information provided to them over the course of the week on how to stay safe. The children also thoroughly enjoyed trying on the uniform’s too!”

Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love. Girl doesn’t. This post modern love story is never what we expect it to be - it’s thorny yet exhilarating, funny and sad, a twisted journey of highs and lows that doesn’t quite go where we think it will. When Tom (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a hapless greeting card copywriter and hopeless romantic, is blindsided after his girlfriend Summer (Zooey Deschanel) dumps him, he shifts back and forth through various periods of their 500 days together to try to figure out where things went wrong. His reflections ultimately lead him to finally rediscover his true passions in life.

Love Actually follows the intertwining stories of eight British couples dealing with love in very different ways. It’s a romantic comedy set at Christmas but it isn’t sappy. It’s a touching comedy filled with amazing moments. It’s impossible to watch this movie without laughing, crying, and falling in love with at least one character. For many, Love Actually is the best romantic comedy ever written.

True Romance One for all you couples that don’t like your common romantic films! A comic-book nerd and Elvis fanatic Clarence (Christian Slater) and a prostitute named Alabama (Patricia Arquette) fall in love. Clarence breaks the news to her pimp and ends up killing him. He grabs a suitcase of cocaine on his way out thinking it is Alabama’s clothing. The two hit the road for California hoping to sell the cocaine, but the mob is soon after them.

The journey of Titanic begins in the present, at the site of the ship’s watery grave, two-and-a-half miles under the ocean surface. An ambitious fortune hunter (Bill Paxton) is determined to plumb the treasures of this once-stately ship, only to bring to the surface a story left untold. The tragic ruins melt away to reveal the glittering palace that was Titanic as it prepares to launch on its maiden voyage from England. Amidst the thousands of well-wishers bidding a fond bon voyage, destiny has called two young souls, daring them to nurture a passion that would change their lives forever. Rose DeWitt Bukater (Kate Winslet) is a 17-year-old, upper-class American suffocating under the rigid confines and expectations of Edwardian society who falls for a free-spirited young steerage passenger named Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio).

For up to 100 evening guests

‘Hot roast’ sandwiches served with local fresh hot roast potatoes.

Yorkshire Thermography Services is a local, family run business based in Sheffield, offering thermal imaging solutions at realistic prices.

WE WOULD LIKE TO OFFER YOUR HOME A ‘HEALTH CHECK’ Your home is probably the biggest financial investment that you make, and its structural condition and the services that run within it such as water and electricity need to be in a safe condition for your peace of mind and to protect your homes value.

You may even consider having a Yorkshire Thermography Services survey as an extra health check on a new property that you may be thinking of purchasing.

Thermal imaging is non invasive so it is not necessary to knock holes in walls or remove floor boards to carry out the survey. All that we ask is that that your services are turned on and operational when we carry out the survey. The thermal imaging camera can ‘see’ problems that are invisible to the human eye. This includes cabling and pipe work that are hidden inside walls and under floorboards. A selection of just some of the many problems that thermal imaging can detect are listed below:

Exterior of the house Thermal imaging will identify:

* Heat loss through wall, roofs, fascias, doors and windows. * Missing or patchy insulation. Heat loss = big bills. * Faulty chimneys and flues. Escaping gases are invisible and can be fatal. * Leaking flat roofs. * No damp proof course.

Interior of the house Thermal imaging will identify:

* Hot spots in electrical cabling, overloaded circuits, pumps, motors. These could cause a fire. * Accurately pinpoint problems with underfloor heating systems, and systems with radiators. No need to lift all the floor up, just the problem area. * Damp problems. A fresh coat of paint may fool the human eye, but not the camera. * Draught problems * Disaster Recovery - in the event of flooding, thermal imaging will identify where heaters should be positioned for maximum effects.

PENISTONE Church progressed to the semi finals of the S&H Senior Cup on Wednesday with a dramatic comeback against Hallam FC. After going 1-0 down to a Matt Ord goal on the stroke of half time, Andy Ring pounced on 52 minutes to level the scores and in extra time, Scott Whittington scored the winner in front of a crowd of 105. After the game manager Ian Richards said: “We had another exceptional cup win doing it the hard way again in the 118th minute with a winner from Whitts (Scott Whittington) and battling back from a goal behind to win the game. “The semi-final in Sheffield and Hallamshire Senior Cup is the furthest we’ve been, we got to the semi-final when we were County Senior. It’s great we’re talking about semi-finals, quarter finals and promotion chases, it’s a credit to the players how far they’ve taken this football club and we should be very proud. “We now wait to see who we get, one of the big boys? Needham breaks record for Footpath Runners TWO Penistone Footpath Runners competed in the Dewsbury 10k, a flat road race which this year was found to be 200m too long. Dave Needham broke a V70 club record for the second week running, taking over two minutes off the 10km mark to record 47.58. Needham is now into his fifth decade of competitive running and meticulously records all his race performances stretching back to the early 1970s. Martyn Cartwright ran 54.00. The Mickleden Straddle took place on Sunday with conditions

a little damp under foot. A light sprinkling of snow overnight made for lovely views at the top of Cut Gate for those who had time to look. A category B race, measuring 14.3 miles long and with over 2,431ft of climbing, saw home new member Thomas Randall first home for the club in 1:58.48 and first lady for PFRAC was Majika Kunicka in 2:13.29. Phil Hinchliffe ran 2:06.49, John Tomlinson 2:21.50, Chris Deacon 2:23.45, Peter Knight 2:25.25 and Paul Fryers 2:38.56.

Cricket training

Andy Swift made the short journey on Saturday morning to test himself on an early seen long fell race. The Wadsworth Trog is classed as a BL and covers approx 19 miles and over 3,650ft of climbing. Andy acquitted himself well to finish third overall in a time of 2:43:26 just pipping Gavin Mulholland who was given same time but was pushed down to fourth. Also Nicky Spinks ran the route and finished second female overall.

STOCKSBRIDGE Cricket Club winter training starts on Friday February 17 at Stocksbridge High School gym. Under nines will train from 6pm to 7.30pm and the under 11s and 13s from 7.30 to 9pm. It would be great to see old and new faces, for more information please contact Andy Hibbert on 07754 186130, Tom Dobson on 07986666464 or Matt Howe on 07504 862413.

Oughtibridge see off nine-man Ranch Oughtibridge WMFC 4-0 Ranch (Chapeltown) IN a must win game in the Blades Super Draw League for the home side, Oughtibridge started the brightest of the two sides and almost went ahead when Justin Westoby went close and then Strachan Sampson volleyed just wide. Captain James Baker should have scored but his header from Ollie Black’s corner went agonisingly wide. The visitors began to find there feet and despite winning several corners and looking very dangerous, could not find away past the Oughtibridge defence and keeper Paul Cadman. With ten minutes to go in the first half Ranch found themselves down to ten men as their striker was sent off for dissent but despite this the away side still looked dangerous.

In the second half Oughtibridge began to make the extra man count and the deadlock was soon broken when Ollie Black tapped home after great work from Westoby. The visitors then went down to nine men again for something that was said to the referee and from then on the game descended into a one-sided affair. It was not long before the lead was then doubled when man of the match Justin Westoby rounded the keeper to double the advantage. Ollie Black then scored a superb free kick to add a third and Callum Simms slotted home the fourth.

end Sean Wilson and management duo Damien Bates and Peter Mole. Fans can fire questions at the guests by sending tweets to the club’s twitter account or leaving posts on facebook – or they can ask on the night itself. Co-promoter Damien Bates said: “These events always seem popular at other clubs so it’s something we’re going to try and I feel certain there will be a big turnout.

STEELS DRAW BLANK AT BELPER Belper Town 0-0 Stocksbridge PS

IN a hard-fought 0-0 draw Steels started and ended the game the stronger of the two teams. Joe Lumsden shot across the face of goal in the first minute. Lumsden threatened again in the fourth minute and this time hit a good shot straight at Scott Low. The Steels went close on 14 minutes when skipper Liam McFadyen headed just over from a corner kick. Scott Ruthven forced a fine stop from Low on 36 minutes and from the corner kick, Ruthven tried his luck against but saw his effort come back off the post. The home side came close to scoring on 55 minutes with Wiggins-Thomas setting up Graves for a first time shot that was blocked by Matt Reay.

Adam Hinchliffe struck a hard shot at the near post that Scott Low saved well Matt Reay did well in the 84th minute when he headed just over the bar and the Nailers were living dangerously as Steels looked the most likely to score. Steels thought they had scored when Harrison Biggins’ free kick hit the underside of the crossbar and clearly crossed the line but the goal wasn’t given. Moments later Joe Lumsden forced a block from Low with minutes to go and with nearly the last kick of the game, a Harrison Biggins shot from 15 yards came in and again Low was in the right place at the right time to prevent a Stocksbridge winner.
