The Government has asked for proposals which will create long-term ambitious economic and social growth. The Towns Fund Board is made of a group of local stakeholders and is co-chaired by Miriam Cates MP for Penistone and Stocksbridge and Managing Director of Dransfield Properties Mark Dransfield DL. The bid is due to be submitted in January. Mark said: “We have worked tirelessly over this last 15 years for the community to bring forward a successful and vibrant town and we would like to complete the journey that we have started by now focussing our attentions on the high street and other areas within our community which need support and enhancement.

The local community is central in helping to inform what should be in the town’s proposal. “Given the challenges we have faced in our region during 2020 we have a fantastic opportunity to create real and sustainable improvements to the area for future generations. To find out more about the Stocksbridge Towns Fund visit www.welcometostocksbridge. co.uk.
