HIGH GREEN BOGUS CALLER JAILED

A HIGH Green woman has been jailed for 12 months after plaguing vulnerable people in High Green with bogus calls. South Yorkshire Police warned residents in the High Green, Ecclesfield and Parson Cross areas

about a bogus caller and received numerous reports of a woman attending at addresses off vulnerable persons, proclaiming to be collecting for charities. Following an investigation, Rebecca Taylor, 34, was arrested

and put before court for several offences. On Tuesday September 18, she was sentenced to 12 months in prison and received a fine - payable upon her release.

Stocksbridge man charged after stabbing A STOCKSBRIDGE man has appeared in court charged in connection to a stabbing in a Sheffield nightclub. At around 1am on Tuesday September 11, emergency services were called to Corporation nightclub on Milton Street, following a report that an 18-yearold man had been stabbed while inside the venue. He was taken to hospital for treatment, where his condition was described as stable. Rebecca Taylor, 34, faces 12 months in jail

Cornell Hirst-Johnson, 21, of Horner Close, Stocksbridge,

appeared before Sheffield Magistrate’s Court on Thursday September 13. He was remanded and charged with wounding with intent and threatening a person with an offensive weapon, in connection to the incident. Licensing officer, Sergeant Adam Wood, said: “There was a positive and swift response from Corporation staff following the incident and they took the decision to voluntarily close the premise immediately.

“Following on from today’s meeting and licencing check, they have agreed to put new conditions in place surrounding their search policy as well as the training of staff. “This will include measures during the upcoming Freshers’ Week for university students.” The club has reopened. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 33 of 11 August 2018.
