“The morning was really enjoyable and the bag of goodies was fantastic, lots of lovely products to use and make you feel good.”

“I was diagnosed with breast cancer September 2024, I lost my Mum to the same disease nearly 30 years ago. When I heard those words my heart sank. After a lumpectomy followed by a mastectomy 2 weeks later, then 7 weeks of recovery. Life was taken over with scans, blood tests, hospital appointments, thankfully no chemotherapy needed just radiotherapy for 5 days. My treatment was completed 23/12/24, Christmas was very difficult but I remained strong and positive. Fast forward 6 weeks looking forward to going back to work, I am on medication for 10 years and another for 2 years, side effects can wear you down some days, so when I was invited to the Look Good Feel Better workshop through my Oncology department I was really pleased and looked forward to the presentation. The morning was really enjoyable and the bag of goodies was fantastic, lots of lovely products to use and make you feel good.

The presentation was great and very informative, we had the opportunity to talk to each other in a non medical setting which made it very pleasant. Racheal our presenter was really nice and delivered all we needed to feel great again with empathy and compassion, l would definitely recommend to anyone. Fantastic workshop which was delivered with empathy and compassion, very thorough presentation of all products we received. The bag of goodies was packed with all kinds of lovely items to enjoy using at home. I really enjoyed and appreciated every minute of the morning, it was a great way of chatting to everyone and very relaxing. Thank you so much.”

“I have recently been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I have had surgery and I am due to start chemotherapy in a couple of weeks. I attended the session to give me the confidence to think about how to feel my best when going through treatment. The Look Good Feel Better session gave me the motivation to put my skincare and make up into my daily routine, to motivate me each day and give me a boost. It was also lovely to catch up with other ladies going through the same journey and just to have some fun with people who understood where you were. Having some time to talk about something other than cancer with people who understood made it a really enjoyable afternoon.”

“Cancer can make you feel so different and sometimes hard to look good! But this experience made me feel normal and most definitely better in myself. I would highly recommend one of your classes to other women who might be feeling a bit lost and struggling with daily appearance. Can't thank you enough.”

“Overall felt like a group of friends hanging out having a good time.”

“I was diagnosed with breast cancer in December with an operation in January. By early Feb I was told I would need Chemo and for a good few weeks afterwards I was devastated - mainly at the thought of losing my hair. I was so scared, emotional and devastated about the thought of losing my hair and my identity. I saw an advert for Look

Good Feel Better workshops and noticed they had a hair loss/head covering workshopHeadWrappers. Totally out of my comfort zone, I decided to sign up to this workshop and I am so glad I did. The workshop was so helpful; learning ways to use a head scarf, hats, wigs and other coverings as well as looking after your scalp after hair loss and once you start to regain hair. In addition it was lovely to speak with other people who are in a similar situation to you - you are not alone. I would definitely encourage people in similar situations to book onto a workshop and definitely not be nervous about going. They are all so incredibly friendly, kind and welcoming, especially as it is very overwhelming going to these kind of things when you do feel quite vulnerable. The information was so helpful and the practical elements were very good too. A massive thank you for all you do.”

“I was diagnosed with stage 3 diffuse large B cell lymphoma in August 2024. I had 6 rounds of chemo which finished on New Years Eve and have recovered pretty well but hated the loss of my hair, eyelashes and eyebrows. This course was brilliant to show you how to make the most of what you've got and how make up can just make you feel so much better. The opportunity to talk to other ladies going through treatment was so comforting. Loved it! Alena was really knowledgeable and experienced. She explained everything so well. It was such a lovely course to attend.”

“From balding to glowing with the help from these exceptional volunteers and the charity providing the products to make you feel you are you and more. This was a wonderful experience, making my cancer journey less harsh.”

“I entered the Look Good Feel Better workshop feeling self-conscious, dowdy and unattractive. I left the workshop with a spring in my step, feeling positive, confident and above all glamorous. So much so, I agreed to be taken out to lunch by with partner, something I had refused to participate in for some time. My volunteers were helpful, supportive and chatty without being over intrusive. Their expertise was apparent throughout and they delivered so many helpful tips and advice. Thank you for running these workshops. They make a tremendous difference to a very difficult journey.”

“Just truly grateful for all of the ladies yesterday!!!! I can't thank them enough, I don't usually wear anything other than mascara so to be shown how to actually wear makeup, and do it correctly was life changing! I even repeated it today! Since losing my hair I felt like an ‘action man’ doll. Yesterday was the first day I didn't feel like that. They took time to make us FEEL special, unique and remind us of the individual people we are. I left feeling quite emotional, because I felt like I had been given a piece of me back but this time with knowledge of how to put makeup on properly, even my daughter was emotional when I arrived home! So thank you.”

“It is so apparent that the volunteers are passionate about supporting the workshop participants. They came across as very knowledgeable, had great suggestions and explanations and made it clear that they could be contacted at any time. Usually I would struggle to reach out to an organisation for this type of advice but after this workshop I wouldn't hesitate. Everyone is so warm and supportive. The tried and tested list of contacts and products that is sent out following the workshop is also excellent. I often become overwhelmed trying to research products and this workshop and list has taken all of the stress out of it. Thank you so much. I am at the beginning of my cancer journey (only one chemo session in) and you have made the next step of my journey a lot less scary and overwhelming.”

“Being a part of your workshops genuinely feels like belonging to a new family that understands what you are going through.”

“I was given 12-18 months over a year ago and as long as possible intend living life to the full. This was something I didn’t think suitable for myself but I was wrong. Real booster !!! Please keep up the wonderful work. I’m an older lady but found the experience uplifting and laughed together with other people I didn’t know. THANK YOU.”

“Was feeling emotional entering the building, and after making a brew, I actually burst into tears. You think that once cancer has been evicted, then you move forward. I thought I had. Obviously, mentally, cancer takes a massive toll. Patients don't just need before and during care, they need emotional and mental support after. I highly recommend this course, I was made to feel loved and that means a lot.”

Juwee Skincare and Makeup Workshop

“I was feeling anxious leading up to the workshop, however, the volunteer was welcoming and friendly which made me feel better. She looked after all the attendees making sure everyone was OK and explained things clearly. Her sharing her personal story was inspiring. I was pleasantly surprised by the workshop and all the volunteers. I would recommend this workshop to all the women who are going through breast cancer.

It was lovely to see the difference in the women by the end of the session, laughing, sharing their experiences, tips and looking fabulous. Thank you for the goodies too, they will make a difference.”

“Look Good Feel Better has been a blessing at a time where I need to focus on the positives and take each day at a time while managing side effects of chemotherapy. A time out from worrying - like a mini oasis in the middle of a storm.”

“After I was diagnosed with Stage 3 bowel cancer, I attended the Look Good Feel Better course at Maggie's in Falkirk. It was definitely food for the soul and I would recommend it to anyone who is on a cancer journey. It was such a positive experience and a welcome distraction with lots of laughter and shared experiences.”

“Diagnosed with colon rectal cancer March 2024 and have gone through a major op and chemo. I am now cancer free. However, I lacked confidence in my changed body image and felt down at how I looked and felt. Then a friend, gave me a leaflet about all the workshops on offer from Look Good Feel Better. I went online and easily booked onto the Styling for Confidence Virtual workshop. It was great, helpful and informative. Lovely to hear other ladies going through or about to start the same journey that I have been on. Recommend greatly.”

“After 6 months of chemo my skin has taken a bit of a beating, my hair has all gone and positivity has been draining. I’m soon to have a mastectomy. I feel like I’m losing my femininity bit by bit. Thank goodness for Look Good Feel Better. I have had such a wonderful day with amazing women learning how to draw my eyebrows back on, cover my blemishes and genuinely had a good old giggle. I left with a smile on my face and the bonus bag of goodies. Thank you all so much. What an absolute blessing to have met such a warm and caring volunteer today she really made to feel so welcomed. And her tips for make up and eyebrow pencils was invaluable.”

The launch of a Look Good Feel Better workshop at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre Liverpool is a significant milestone in extending our support to cancer patients in Merseyside and beyond. As one of the UK’s leading cancer centres, Clatterbridge provides specialist treatment to a vast population across Cheshire, Merseyside, North Wales, and the Isle of Man. This collaboration not only marks the charity’s first partnership with Clatterbridge but also presents an exciting opportunity for future service development in the region. Launching in May, Look Good Feel Better workshop venue in Romney Marsh, Kent marks a vital step in expanding support to underserved areas. Despite its scenic rural setting, the community faces significant social and economic challenges, with limited access to healthcare services. Positioned in a boundary area with little existing cancer support, this new venue will provide a much-needed resource for local residents, reducing the need to travel long distances. By bringing our workshops closer to home, we aim to help bridge the gap in cancer support and ensure more people can access the benefits of our services. London & South East 28 venues

“I was made to feel really welcome and the whole experience really lifted me.”

“My cancer journey started after I attended my regular mammogram. I was referred for further tests and they confirmed on the day that they believed it was cancer. I had to wait 2 weeks for the biopsy results but already knew it was cancer so I started preparing for what was to come.

I had private healthcare so used that although the NHS would have been great and just as quick. Within a month I had a lumpectomy to have the lump removed and to check if it had gone to the lymph nodes. Fortunately it hadn't and I then had an intense course of radiotherapy.

During treatment I had purchased a goody bag from Look Good Feel Better which had loads of products at a greatly reduced price. I also saw the workshops and at first thought that I didn't really qualify as my treatment was minimal compared to others. I am glad I didn't listen to the chimp on my shoulder and booked the workshop. I was made to feel really welcome and the whole experience really lifted me. I would recommend to anyone going through cancer and I would like to thank all the volunteers and companies who donate the products.

This is a free service that makes you feel good about yourself. When I walked in felt a bit down but by the time I left I felt uplifted and good about myself. You are given a free goody bag that is full of awesome stuff. I learnt how to do makeup in a way that I hadn't known before. Even my husband commented when he saw me about how good I looked. I would highly recommend to anyone. The volunteers are amazing.”

“Look Good Feel Better gave me confidence and tools to help me feel more like myself again.”

“I have metastatic breast cancer so being able to use make up with confidence to look just a bit more like me is of such value. Not only was she very informative but also very warm and supportive and made the session a really lovely experience. A bonus of the morning was being with other women who know just what it is like to not look or feel like yourself anymore. I felt less alone hearing their stories of how they manage the impact of cancer.”

“I was diagnosed with cancer 8 years ago during a scan for kidney stones. The workshop was so helpful and informative. The hosts demonstrated how to apply head wrappings but also answered our questions on other matters such as scalp conditioning. So glad my daughter signed me up for these workshops. It’s a scary ordeal going through cancer but meeting people with similar situations seems to make it more bearable.”

“I'd heard about the Look Good Feel Better workshops and was a little nervous about attending but I needn't have been. It was a truly uplifting experience. Lisa and Nikki made an amazing partnership and couldn't have made us all feel more welcome. So many useful hints and tips from cleansing the correct way to applying some of the lovely cosmetics from the generous goodie bag provided. We were thoroughly spoilt. I have been finding it hard to get back to feeling more like my ‘old’ self. A fellow patient once said to me "you alter and are different, things are never the same" which was quite a sobering thought but I didn't want it to be a negative one to carry on with; by coming to the LGFB workshop I can honestly say the experience gave me a real lift. I tried different looks and have adopted some of the techniques - OK, because of cancer, I am a different person but now I'm finding ways to become a better version of me! So thank you LGFB Workshop, you've really helped me to positively improve my well being, I'm very grateful for the experience. I do think your volunteers are amazing people. So kind and caring and very understanding.”

“I’ve had breast cancer twice in the past 10 years, both primary. I also have M.E, which varies from day to day week to week, sometimes being bed bound. I rarely make it out anywhere now, so being able to attend the morning of Look Good Feel Better, was amazing. It was great ‘me time’ and lovely meeting other women who are in similar positions and able to be ourselves and have a laugh at the same time. Receiving the goody bag was amazing! It felt like it was my birthday! The ladies helping to facilitate were lovely and Paula who was our beautician was patient and very knowledgeable. Both were really lovely, kind, patient, considerate and helpful.”

“Being able meet and connect with other people going through their cancer journey has been invaluable. A friend attended your workshop and said how uplifting it was and recommended it to me.
A very big thank you.”
Elaine Skincare & Makeup Workshop

“The girls were very helpful and informative. I felt relaxed and able to be open with everyone about my situation and my lack of experience with self care such as hair, styling and make up. They were patient with us taking time and allowing us to chat with each other. I left feeling lifted and more confident and proud of what I have achieved and learned.

We have actually set up a WhatsApp group and intend to meet up once a month for a cuppa and catch up if we are able to and that in itself is also hugely important.

Having people local, going through the same kind of things, helping each other, listening, supporting one another, that understand what you are going through and for that, I am very grateful and looking forward to our first meet up. These groups are of huge importance and I am very grateful for them and the support. I hope they continue for a very long time.”

“I just wanted to say thank you for yesterdays class with Jane. It was the best afternoon I have had in ages. It was great to meet Jane who showed so much enthusiasm and compassion for our different situations. It was also nice to share tips with the other ladies attending but most of all I had so much fun and that's thanks to you and the generosity of your volunteers. I would recommend any lady going through cancer attend your class to get a piece of herself back. I even spent half an hour this morning having another go at my makeup and received a compliment. Again, thank you so much.”

“I have been in watch and wait for 5 years and last year a week after my mum passed away I had the phone call to say treatment needs to start. One of my cancer nurses suggested Look Good Feel Better and I booked on the workshop. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting lots of lovely people and learnt a lot and was so grateful of the free gifts which were donated by various beauty brands.. Thank you for a lovely experience. The whole experience was just what I needed.”

“I was diagnosed with breast cancer last November 2024 at 57 years old. So shocking because I came England for holiday and celebrate my first Christmas here in UK and that’s what happened. I undergone surgery and now in my second chemo sessions. I really lost my confidence when I start losing my hair. When Hannah from the Cancer Support Services team booked me on the workshop. I am glad I did join. I met people with the same problem as mine. Cancer patients told what they experienced. I'm not used to wear make up. But while on that workshop I am learning and try my best to learn more especially on looking after my skin. Thank you for the free make up kit that I received. Thanks for the experience. They are very helpful and try to encourage us to gain back our confidence even from the effect of treatment we still have to look after our skin and look good for ourselves not for other people.”

“I have primary breast cancer and a full mastectomy and reconstruction in 4 days time so feeling quite anxious and jumpy. I was so grateful to one of the Macmillan team at the hospital for telling me about the session and putting me forward for it. The rest of the group were all at various different stages and so supportive - it felt like being wrapped in a cocoon and the volunteers who led the session were totally brilliant. It was an oasis at a time I really needed it and such a comfort to be with others who understood. I am so grateful to have been able to attend and what a great organisation Look Good Feel Better is - long may it last - so wonderful the beauty industry are behind this - from large to small companies your generosity is so appreciated, as well as all the volunteers from those who lead the sessions and to those who pack the bags. Teresa and her 2 colleagues were so amazing - they gave time to everyone in the group and were so compassionate but also provided lots of practical and useful tips. I will look at blusher in a whole new way!”

“I was diagnosed with bowel cancer in Feb 2023 and had surgery and adjuvant chemo for 6 months. Unfortunately in September 2024 I found it had returned and I'm now on palliative treatment only. To attend one of your workshops has been such a positive experience for me. To trying on makeup, learning how to apply it and to laugh with the volunteers and other attendees has been incredibly therapeutic. The volunteers were wonderful. I didn't know how much I needed this, but I'd recommend it to anyone. Thank you. The volunteers were so lovely. They were helpful, knowledgeable and patient (there was a lot of chatting going on). I wasn't sure what to expect but they really made it a really positive experience, they are amazing!!!”

“Thank you for giving me the self confidence to use make up again.”

“It was a brilliant experience, the volunteers were fantastic and so kind and supportive of all the group. I felt so happy when I left and cannot rate the morning highly enough, thank you so much.”

“Beautifully delivered by the Cancer Haircare charity - really clear, thorough and very well-paced and a lovely warmth in her delivery. She inspired confidence and I learnt a lot. Excellent workshop, thank you to Look Good Feel Better for hosting and to Cancer Haircare for the workshop itself.”

“Sam was an excellent host, he was very easy going and clear with his presentation and encouraged everyone in the group to join in with the various topics he was covering. He also handled very professionally all the questions put to him from the group.”

“Our volunteer was by far one of the best volunteers have come into contact with through your organisation, and the bar was already very high as everyone has been truly amazing. Her knowledge, experience, passion for the subject and her dedication to the cause shone through and everything came from the heart. I cannot thank Look Good Feel Better enough for offering these life changing opportunities to learn and truly look good and feel better at what is such a challenging time in the patient lives. I am recommending to everyone and when I am well enough will look at some fundraising. Keep up the exceptional work, you are making such a difference.”

““Michelle was so bubbly and welcoming it would be impossible not to be uplifted by her workshop.”

“Initially she asked everyone if they were experiencing any difficulties so that she could ensure she tailored the class to suit the group. She went through nail care step by step with assurances and suggestions for affordable products. She then ensured she answered all of our questions and even invited us to send her photos of our hands and feet (definitely above and beyond!) so that she could offer further advice. I now feel I have someone who genuinely wouldn't mind me messaging her with any questions. It can feel very lonely being on this cancer journey (even with a fantastic support network of family and friends) and people like Michelle make that journey easier and less lonely. Thank you so much for the work that you do. I have booked into more of your workshops.”

“I have ovarian cancer and after my operation and long recovery I felt like I had lost my identity and confidence. My skin felt different and I had lost my mojo in putting on make up.

The skin treatment demonstration left my skin looking radiant. I felt rejuvenated.

Conversing with fellow cancer sufferers gave us all an understanding that we were all individual with different needs. The beauticians helped us all individually to use the products that best suited our skin and tones. Also I had lots of tips I had not known after years of make up using. We all went home with a lovely beauty bag full of fab products and inspiration to use and explore the products. The beauticians were friendly and supportive of everyone's needs. Keen to listen to the participants and eager to ensure everyone was happy and enjoying the experience. It was as relaxed and very informative.“

“Liz was welcoming and professional. There was 5 of us in the group with the youngest lady possibly being only in her early twenties, another lady in her thirties and the rest of us over fifty - Liz made us all feel totally comfortable. I gained some very valuable tips during the workshop.”

“This was a really interesting workshop. It was obvious that Jasmin was very experienced in this field. She gave precise scientific detail, was warm and very reassuring and the tips that she passed on were really useful. It was particularly helpful to me to attend this in the second week of losing my hair which gave me added confidence. Keep up the good work. You do a fantastic job.”

“This really is a fantastic service and somehow almost normalises the odd situation of hair loss - which is no mean feat in this alternative cancer universe.”

“I visited Macmillan at QA when I was having treatment for breast cancer and they invited me to attend the LGFB workshop. I didn’t really know what to expect and was only just starting to feel up to doing something like that, and I’m so glad I did. It was so nice to do something so different and have a bit of “me” time, with a group of ladies who I knew were also on a cancer journey so we all had that in common, and even though we’d never met everyone was very supportive of each other; the two ladies either side of me shared their cancer stories with me and it became quite a special gathering. The time passed so quickly, I picked up some useful tips about skincare and make up and was given a make up bag full of assorted goodies, colours and things I wouldn’t have chosen which were fun to try. It was a very uplifting experience and I was very grateful for the opportunity. Louise and Judith (I think I got their names right!) were brilliant, Louise made sure everyone was comfortable and able to join in as much or as little as they wanted, she was extremely professional and knowledgable, and delivered the workshop in a way that made it completely relatable and accessible to everyone. It was great fun and the time passed so quickly.”

“The volunteers are so empathic, kind and informative and make such a difference by doing what they do.”

“I was diagnosed with grade 2 breast cancer in August 2023 which was found by chance after finding a thickening in my underarm from IVF treatment. After undergoing a lumpectomy and sentinel node removal my cancer was found to be aggressive and I was told it was a grade 3 and they had found a 6mm tumour within one of the lymph nodes. Whilst recovering from surgery I struggled to walk and knew something wasn’t right, my spine MRI showed no issues but they hadn’t scanned my lumbar spine L5 and when the results came back sadly it showed a huge tumour on my L5 spine covering it and eating into the bone. It was in danger of crushing my bowel and bladder if left so I underwent urgent radiotherapy and month later the scan showed an excellent response to the treatment. Chemotherapy is not advised as I was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer metastasis to the spine incurable but treatable cancer. I received 13 Zoladex hormone injections which stopped my ovaries working then opted for surgery 3 weeks ago to have my ovaries and fallopian tubes removed so it was one less hormone injection each month.

I am now on oral anti cancer meds to stop the cancer from spreading and the tumour growing. I am scanned regularly and pray my tumour stays dormant and I can live a long and healthy life. The Look Good Feel Better charity is so supportive in meeting others with similar experiences and provides workshops to improve confidence. The volunteers are so empathic, kind and informative and make such a difference by doing what they do. I will definitely be booking more workshops.”
