CLASS OF 2026 S.S.S. HYBRID EXCELLENCE
PRINCIPAL’S ADDRESS Congratulations, Class of 2026! You stand at a unique crossroads in history, embodying a theme that defines our era: SSS Hybrid Excellence. You haven’t just survived a changing world; you have mastered the art of creating, functioning and thriving within it. Driven by Purpose Your journey hasn’t been about just checking boxes or passing exams. You’ve discovered that true excellence comes from knowing “why” you do what you do. Whether in the classroom, on the corridors, on the field, or across the digital borders of social media, your “purpose” has been the compass that kept you steady when the path grew winded. Powered by Resilience If purpose is your compass, “resilience” is your engine. You are a “hybrid” generation—seamlessly blending traditional norms with technology, creativity, innovation, and face-to-face connection with global collaboration. You have shown that when the world shifts, you don’t break; you adapt, recalibrate, and emerge stronger. For your generation, “Excellence is not a destination, but a journey characterized by the continuous integration of your greatest strengths and our toughest lessons.”
Your Legacy As you step beyond these walls, remember that you are uniquely equipped for the future. You possess the grit to endure and the vision to lead. 1. Stay Curious: The hybrid world rewards the lifelong learner. 2. Stay Creative: Use the technology available to create innovative solutions to old world and new age problems. 3. Stay Bold: Let your purpose drown out the noise of doubt. 4. Stay Humane: Despite the immersion in technology, remember to treat each other with love and respect. We are members of the Blue Marlin family. 5. Stay United: Your strength is multiplied when you lift others up. The horizon is bright because you are the ones heading toward it. Go forth and lead. Go forth and create a better world. Be driven to excellence. Be a light! Congratulations, Class of 2026! Ms. Thecla Stephen
VICE PRINCIPAL’S ADDRESS To the Graduating Class of 2026, You came in during uncertain times. I recall delivering lessons to the class of 1 Callender and 1 Sebro. During classes I was always ably assisted by both Camani Thomas and Collin Peterson. They were always willing to assist virtually and even moreso when we met in person. Those times were tough for all of us but through resilience, determination, and excellence, you have made it to this proud moment. This year’s theme, “Hybrid Excellence: Driven by Purpose, Powered by Resilience,” truly reflects your journey. As I look at this class, I see future doctors, engineers,

chefs, architects, entrepreneurs, and many other amazing professionals. Continue to strive for excellence and remain “Committed to Excellence” in all that you do. Go with God, stay resilient, and never stop pursuing your purpose. Wishing each of you success, happiness, and God’s richest blessings in the future. My love to you all. 5 CALLENDER STORIES My story begins in First form, high school felt like a whole new world to me. At first instinct, was nervousness, but over the five years, it became one of the most unforgettable parts of my life. My school was always full of excitement, energy, and school spirit. There was never a dull moment because something was always happening, whether it was karaoke in the library, school events, or the loud chants from my class bringing life to the school. One of my happiest memories was being part of our March Past team. We worked extremely hard, practiced for hours, and when we finally competed, we placed second. We were so proud of ourselves, deep down I still believe we deserved first place because of all the effort and passion we put into it. Still, the experience brought us closer together and taught us teamwork and determination. I was also part of the school choir, which gave me the chance to attend different events including
a performance at the Magdalena Grande Hotel which was a spectacular performance. Singing alongside my schoolmates created memories I will never forget. Another exciting time was our School’s annual, Sports Day, it always proved to be a very exciting event, especially when the truck came through blasting music and everyone was cheering and having fun. The silly races and class competitions made our entire school journey feel like a celebration, however we also learnt so much about life and ourselves in the process. A very big part of that journey was our interaction with our Form Mistress Mrs. Gordon-Holder, She was more than just a teacher to our class. She always defended us, encouraged us, made us feel comfortable to be ourselves and always made sure we were okay. She made school feel safe and welcoming, and I will always appreciate her kindness and support.
My five years at Sc arborough Secondar y School were truly some of the happiest years of my life. From Form 1 to Fo rm 5, I always tried my best in school and work hard to achieve good grades. There were challen ges along the way, but with determination and support from my tea chers and friendship was able to do well academica lly each year. One of my pr oudest memories wa s playing cricket for my schoo l. Cricket was someth ing I really enjoyed, and I always gave my all on the field. A moment I wi ll never forget was when I earned the “Man of the Match” award after an excellent performan ce in a game. I felt proud knowing that my ha rd work paid off an d that I made my school an d teammates proud. I also enjoyed Foods and Nutrition classes ve ry much. The practical’s were always exciting beca use I loved preparing me als and learning ne w cooking skills. I was happy to ace all my practic al exams, which made me ev en more confident in abilities. Sport from sport an d academics, I made great friends, shared lots of laughter, and too k part in many enjoyable sch ool activities. Scarbo rough Secondary School he lped shape me into a more into a more confide nt and hardworking person. The memories and achievements from these years will always remain close to my heart.
Our school also had special events like Career Week, where motivational speakers, social media content creators like Safi (a past student of our school), and other guests visited to encourage and inspire students. Those moments made us feel like we could achieve anything if we worked hard enough. Looking back, my high school life was filled with laughter, music, school chants, friendships, and unforgettable memories. Even with challenges along the way, the happy moments, the vibes, and the people I met made those five years truly special.

I remember walking into SSS first day seeing I still remember how nervous I was on my first day of high school. The school felt so big and different from primary school, and honestly… I wasn’t doing great at first. My grades were low, and I didn’t really like that. but I made a few friends, some came and went, but one stayed and she means a lot to me. As time went on, I got more comfortable, and my grades started improving. Things were finally looking up. My form teacher, Ms. Trim does not know but she helped me through high school by believing in my abilities. And not everything was serious either, like that time in P.E. when I fell in front of everyone during a race. I was so embarrassed, but it was funny. By third form, I realized I needed to be around people who really cared about me, and that made a big difference. Then fourth and fifth form were honestly really good! I met all kinds of people, good and bad, and they helped shape me into who I am now. And yeah! … I even got into a fight. Crazy, right? Though my high school story wasn’t the happiest and smoothest, it’s still mine! Now that high school is ending, I’m really going to miss it, the good, the bad, all of it. Bridget, signing out.

1. Back in Second Form, when we had to prepare food for Tech Ed, we chose our own groups, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Working together, we planned our dishes, shared responsibilities, and helped each other during the preparation process. We cooked a variety of meals, including breakfast foods like eggs and bacon, as well as lunch items such as pie and baked chicken. Everyone in the group played a crucial part, from cooking to arranging everything neatly. The presentation was just as important, and we took pride in making our dishes look appealing. It was truly a memorable and fun activity.

Five years ago, I walked into school unsure of who I was and who I wanted to be. Everything felt new, the people, the work, the pressure. I made mistakes, learnt less ons the hard way, and had day s where I felt like giving up. But somehow, I kept goin g. Along the way, I found friends who became family, teache rs who pushed me to do bet ter, and strength I didn’t kno w I had. There were laug hs in the hallways, stress before exams, and moments I’ll never forget. Each year shaped me bit by bit into someon e stronger, wiser, and more determined. Now, five yea rs later, I’m walking out not as the same person who walked in, but as someone who grew through every challenge and every success. This isn’t the end of my story it’s just the beginning of everything I’m about to become. I can remember the days when third form was around whe re we all used to be playing and having fun together in food challenges, TikTok, play fighting, arguing and etc. Until it turned so real. Time flew faster than exp ected now it’s time to graduate and say goodbye to y’all. Aliyah signing out … love y’all.

My high school journey began in 2021, a year that marked both achievement and uncertainty. After months of dedication and hard work, I successfully passed the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) exam ination and earned a place at one of Tobago’s most well-known and accomplishe d institutions, Scarborough Secondary School. That moment filled me with pride and excitement, as I knew I was stepping into a new chapter of my life. Howe ver, this milestone took place during the COVID-19 pandemic, which meant that my introduction to high school was far from traditional. Instead of walking into classrooms and meeting new faces in person, my orientation and first experiences were entirely online. I met my classmates—who would later become friends—through a screen , which made everything feel distant and unfamiliar. Being naturally shy, I found it difficult to open up, even in a virtual setting. Despite this, I remained focuse d and determined, completing all my assignments online and excelling in my work. Those early months taught me discipline, independence, and the importance of staying committed even in challenging circumstances. When schools finally reopened and students were instructed to return to physical classes, I was overwhelmed with fear. The thoug ht of meeting everyone in person after months of online interaction was intimidatin g. I vividly remember my first day—being dropped off by my sister, my heart racing as anxiety took over. However, I toughened up and did my best to get over that challenging hurdle called fear. The pandemic was still ongoing, so wearing masks throughout the entire school day was mandatory, something I found very uncomfortable. To make matters worse, I often experienced sudde n coughing fits during school hours, which made me feel embarrassed and self-co nscious, as others assumed I might have COVID-19. In those moments, I wishe d I could simply become a ghost and disappear. During my first two terms in Form One, I barely spoke to anyone. I kept to myself, quietly observing my surroundings and focusing on my schoolwork. However, as time passed, I slowly began to grow and adapt. I started stepping out of my comfort zone, becoming more expressive and confident, especially during school events. Activities like Wacky Wedn esdays, Career Day, and Crazy Hair Day became some of my most treasu red memories. On those days, I allowed my personality to shine—dressing in bold, outrageous outfits that brought laughter and excitement. One of my most unforgettable moments was on Career Day, when I confidently walked into school dressed in a full Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force uniform, complete with a helmet. I captured every one’s attention and proudly embraced the spotlight, even taking photos with teachers and fellow students. Academically, I consistently performed well, and I take great pride in the many times in which I excelled in my assignments. It was incredibly rewarding to receive praise from both teachers and classmates, and even more meaningful when my work was displayed in classrooms as an example for others. These moments reinforced my confidence and motivated me to continue striving for excellence.
By the time I reached Form Four, I had grown not only academically but also personally. I stepped further outside my comfo rt zone by joining the school’s volleyball team, embracing teamwork, discipline, and school spirit. This experience allowed me to connect with others in a new way and added even more excitement to my high school life. One of the most memorable highlights of my time in Form Five was our graduation retreat trip to Trinidad, an experience I will never forget. We stayed at Victory Heights Camp Site, where the atmos phere was both relaxing and full of fun. During the trip, we explored some of Trinid ad’s most famous attractions, including the renowned Pitch Lake in La Brea, where I learnt fascinating facts about the natural asphalt lake. We also visited two malls where I truly “shopped till I dropped,” enjoying every moment with my friends. Another unforgettable adventure was our visit to the Caroni Swamp, where I got to experience the beauty of nature up close. Back at the camp, we spent time bonding, laugh ing, and even bathing in the pool, creating memories that will last a lifetim e. This trip was not only fun and exciting, but it also allowed me to learn new things, appreciate new environments, and celebrate the end of my high school journey in the best way possible. Looking back on my five years of high school, I see a journey of growth, resilience, and transformation. From a shy stude nt navigating online classes during a global pandemic to someone who confid ently expressed themselves and embraced new opportunities, I have truly evolve d. My high school experience was filled with challenges, achievements, and unfor gettable memories that will stay with me for a lifetime.
