PRINCIPAL’S ADDRESS: Florence McEachnie Principal (retired) Eastern Girls’ Government School
Make Us Proud! My Dear Girls: I bid you farewell with a deep sense of pride and affection. I have come to know many of you as individuals in various aspects of school life. I have come to know the unique characteristics, accomplishments and frailties of so many of you. Throughout your years at the Eastern Girls’ Government School, it has been our major purpose to help you grow into intelligent, compassionate and responsible citizens. It has been our objective to cultivate in you an unswerving appreciation of and a loyalty to the democratic values upon which our nation stands. Our emphasis has always been to develop in you, the necessary skills that you will need for a sound educational foundation. This foundation will not only serve you well in your pursuit for higher education, if that is your goal, but will be of advantage to you in your social and

business endeavors. Each of your teachers has had much to offer you. They have contributed and influenced your intellectual, social and emotional growth. You have the necessary tools to get the job done. I have no doubt that you will carry on in the tradition of the thousands of Eastern Girls’ Government School students who preceded you and are now productive members of our society. I have one earnest wish for you: Live your lives in such a way that will reflect creditably upon yourselves, your parents and your community. I echo the wishes of our entire faculty when I say to you good luck and God speed. The world is out there and to the Class of 2014, I congratulate you. We have prepared you for life outside the walls of Eastern Girls’ Government School; go out there and make your alma mater and the nation, as a whole, proud.

To my Extraordinary Students As I look back at the past two years we have spent together, my eyes begin to fill with tears. Parting is always such sweet sorrow… Sweet because you now stand on the brink of your future and sorrowful because leaving Eastern Girls’ Government marks the end of a familiar chapter of your lives. We have had our ups and downs, successes and failures, joys and sorrows. You now have a long road ahead of you. At times, you may fail, but remember “no failure is ever fatal and no success is ever final.” Life is going to be about choices and it is up to you to make the right ones, because like it or not, no decision will be easy anymore. Always remember the powerful support system you have in your lives in the form of parents, guardians, family, friends and teachers/administrators, who will continue to nurture you with love, sacrifice, care, and encouragement. Each one of you is blessed. You are a wonderfully made
8
child of God. As I see you off on the next leg of your journey through life, remember these things: • Be mindful of what you say, how you dress, and how you treat others. You never know who is watching or listening. • Leave things better than the way you found them. • Take advantage of the technology that is at your disposal, remembering, “Pause before you post.” What you post on Facebook, Twitter, or other social sites is always public and lives on forever. • Take advantage of each day you are blessed with, for life is truly a gift. Go forth and make your positive mark on this world, knowing always that I am proud of how you have grown into focused young women. Enjoy your achievements and work towards your goals. Lastly, always remember that I believe in you and I love you all.

AS I SAY GOODBYE by Danielle Smith My first day at Eastern Girls’ Gover nment School was amazing. I have attended other sch ools and I must say that it is the best school ever. The students are friendly, kind and sort of mischievous. From Standard Fou r straight into Standard Five, I felt like one of the group. Th ey made me feel welcome. The child that I am now is not the chi ld I was then. Eastern Girls’ changed me and is still chang ing me for the better. I am thankful for all that I have lea rnt and look forward to expanding my knowledge in the fut ure. I will miss Eastern Girls’ and my friends a lot. I will mi ss my teacher, liming on the benches, Physical Education, Dre ss Up days and eating a hot beef pie and drinking an ice col d Chubby on mornings. I bid you farewell Eastern Girls’ Gover nment School.
