Teaching Minds - Training Hearts for God College Preparatory Academics taught from a Christian Worldview:

Buckingham Palace - SCCS British Literary Tour

• Small, intimate class size (with a 12:1 student-to-teacher ratio in elementary) • Honors and Advanced Placement classes • Dual Credit/Enrollment: Students have the opportunity to finish up to a year-and-a-half of college courses before graduation • Educational field trips in each grade level which include: Science Camp, a tour of the California state capitol, Washington DC and a British Literary Tour in England, to name a few.

• Science and technology is emphasized through hands-on labs, projects and lessons.

• Ninety percent of the 2016 graduates received academic and/or athletic honors.

• Academic Competitions: Students participate in yearly competitions such as Math Olympics, Spelling Bee and Speech Meet.

Athletic Distinction: • Eighty-five percent of SCCS students in grades K-12 participate in a SCCS sport • Thirty-five competitive sports teams offered for grades K-12 • Christian coaches focus on character building, sportsmanship, team unity and athletic conditioning • 2015-16 Heritage League Championships: Volleyball, Baseball, Boys and Girls Soccer • 2015-16 CIF Titles: Swim-100 Free Style; Finalists50 Free Style; Finalists-Volleyball • Overall CIF Championships: Swimming (2014-2016), Girls Volleyball (2014), Football (2008 & 2009), Baseball (2004)

Extraordinary Fine Arts • Art: Over 500 pieces of student art (wet and dry mediums, sculptures and more) was on display at the school’s annual art and photography exhibit.

Several student’s art was also entered into SCV’s Earth Day event. SCCS students won for Creativity and Best Use of Recycables.

• Theater Arts Program: Students performed in “Peter Pan” and smaller school productions as well as local theatre performances.

• Culinary Arts: Students received Fine Arts credit for this hands-on class.

• Junior High Cardinal Choir placed first in their division at Disneyland’s Music in the Parks • Elementary and Secondary band: Students have the opportunity to participate in band and perform during chapel worship and school productions. Additionally, private lessons are available for voice, piano, guitar, drums, violin and woodwind instruments.

Promoting Spiritual Growth & Service

• Weekly chapels, Bible classes and retreats emphasize a deeper understanding and application of God’s Word.

• iServe: Over 250 junior high and high school students volunteered for more than a dozen community service projects through a two-day event called iServe, promoting awareness, compassion, and selflessness.

• Elementary Spiritual Emphasis Week: Pastor Steve Jackson from Faith Community Church spoke during Elementary Spiritual Emphasis Week. This was a great opportunity for spiritual conversations and encouraged greater understanding of what it means to have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

High School SCCS students volunteer at the Spiritual Life Retreat • NEXUS: High school students participated in four days of Fred Jordan Mission in LA as part of iServe.

The Oaks Camp NEXUS, created to help students start the new calendar year with a focus on God, His Word and its implications to our everyday life. Pastor Durso from Grace Brethren in Simi Valley, brought truths from the Book of Jonah.

• Student Leadership Council: Students are involved in the planning and executing of student activities, while learning how to be SCCS students volunteer for Ronald McDonald House by making dinner for families with kids at the Children’s Hospital as part of iServe. outstanding citizens and leaders.

“What I love most about SCCS, besides the excellent academics, are the amazing teachers,” said SCCS mom Lia Kennedy. “All of them treat the students as if they were their own.”

The Kennedy family has been at SCCS for over 16 years. Wiley Kennedy is the Lead Pastor in Adult Discipleship at Grace Baptist Church.

SCCS, we do community well. Students who have attended SCCS from Kindergarten to twelfth grade, “SCCS Lifers” have stated that they love the unified culture and the feeling of being part of a big family every single day. Students time and again have expressed the difference the teachers at SCCS have made in their lives.

At SCCS, students receive the academic and spiritual foundation they need to thrive and are well prepared to handle the rigors of higher education, as well as life.
