J. Richard Leyner Chairman, CDI Board of Directors Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree

J. Richard Leyner is a true champion for children and a leader in our community. Mr. Leyner has been the Chairman of the Board of the Child Development Institute for over 15 years and has helped to bring about changes that dramatically improved services for infants and children with physical and intellectual challenges. He has also served his community through service on boards and task forces aimed at making the San Fernando a great place to work and raise a family. An established force in the San Fernando Valley’s Commercial Real Estate market and a major force in the Valley’s thriving mainstream business environment for many years, J. Richard Leyner is Senior Vice President of illi Commercial Real Estate, one of the foremost commercial real estate brokerage firms in Southern California. Over the years, Mr. Leyner has held many high-profile positions and continues

to provide leadership and support on the Boards of the United Chambers of Commerce of the SFV, Encino Chamber of Commerce, Neighborhood Council, and the Valley Economic Alliance. He also served on Advisory Committees to Assemblymembers Robert Hertzberg and Lloyd Levine Mr. Leyner was appointed Commissioner of the North Valley Planning Committee in 2006 and now serves as its President. Mr. Leyner has given his time generously to several nonprofits and was the 2005 winner of the Fernando Award, the highest honor given in the San Fernando Valley for a lifetime of volunteerism. Richard also serves as Executive Vice Chairman of the Board of New Directions for Youth, Interim Chairman of the Mid Valley YMCA, He was Past President of B’nai Brith, Former Board Member of the Encino Tarzana Medical Center Foundation and is former fund-raiser for both Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and AIS Project LA.
