Jean-Baptiste Robin Saturday, October 14 8 pm From the Palace of Versailles, Jean-Baptiste Robin joins us in our Gardens for an evening of incredible organ music. Known around the world for his interpretations of French organ repertoire, Robin will deliver a performance that is truly unique.

Terell Stafford Quintet Friday, October 20 8 pm Terell Stafford has been hailed as “one of the great players of our time, a fabulous trumpet player” by piano legend McCoy Tyner. Stafford’s exceptionally expressive and well-defined musical talent allows him to dance in and around the rich trumpet tradition of his predecessors while making his own inroads.

Sándor Kádár Sunday, November 12 3 pm Sándor Kádár is principal organist at First Presbyterian Church of West Chester, PA.

A World of Music Series

Cristina Pato Quartet Friday, November 17 8 pm Cristina Pato, known for her work with Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble, brings her new album Latina to our Gardens. With the help of her quartet, Pato explores what it means to be a Latina and a Galician bagpipe player.

Audience-goers will delight in Pato’s blend of bagpipe, Galician, and Spanish influences.

“The Acoustic Living Room” Songs and Stories with Kathy Mattea, Featuring Bill Cooley Saturday, November 18 8 pm Grammy Award-winning singer Kathy Mattea and her longtime collaborator, guitarist Bill Cooley, welcome you into The Acoustic Living Room to share songs and stories near and dear to their hearts. Her most recent album, Calling Me Home, is a collection of songs that celebrate the Appalachian culture of her native West Virginia.

The DePue Brothers Band: A Magical Grassical Christmas Tuesday, November 28 8 pm Celebrate the sounds of the Christmas season with The DePue Brothers Band.

These four violinist brothers encompass a vivid blend of genres resulting in a style they refer to as “Grassical”—a combination of bluegrass and classical music, with elements of jazz, blues, and rock mixed in.

Cherish the Ladies: Celtic Christmas Wednesday, November 29 8 pm The Emmy-award winning Irish group Cherish the Ladies returns to our Gardens to celebrate the holiday season. As an engaging and successful ensemble, Cherish the Ladies has shared Irish traditions with audiences for more than 30 years. In their Celtic Christmas program, the Ladies put their signature mark on classic carols in arrangements that highlight the group’s unique Celtic instrumentation and beautiful harmonies.

Edward Landin is Assistant Director of Music at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church where he directs numerous children’s and handbell choirs and serves as principal accompanist for the Sanctuary Choir.

Steven Page, a founder and former lead of the iconic band Barenaked Ladies, joins Toronto’s highly inventive Art of Time Ensemble in an evening of seminal songs by Randy Newman, Radiohead, Elvis Costello, Barenaked Ladies, and others. These gems are reimagined and reinvented by some of the greatest minds in classical, pop, and jazz, and delivered by a defining voice in contemporary rock.

globalFEST: On the Road­­­— The New Golden Age of Latin Music Thursday, February 8 8 pm globalFEST is North America’s most important world music festival, and this season they are taking Orkesta Mendoza and Las Cafeteras on the road. Orkesta Mendoza and Las Cafeteras are two of today’s most exciting bands and are redefining Latin music. Indie mambo band, Orkesta Mendoza, and alternative Chicano band, Las Cafeteras, will share the stage in a performance you won’t want to miss.

Brazilian brothers and classical guitarists Sérgio and Odair Assad perform with Israeli mandolin player Avi Avital. The trio explore both classical repertoire reimagined for guitar and mandolin, as well as traditional choro music, a popular genre in Brazil known for its upbeat rhythms and bravura virtuosity, in an exciting musical collaboration.

The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia trains exceptionally gifted young musicians for careers as performing artists on the highest professional level. Experience the stars of tomorrow as they perform solo and chamber music in these pre-graduation recitals.

Berlin Philharmonic Piano Quartet Friday, February 16 8 pm The Berlin Philharmonic Piano Quartet is committed to performing undiscovered masterpieces as well as the standard classical repertoire. Comprised of three members of the Berlin Philharmonic and pianist Markus Groh, the Berlin Philharmonic Piano Quartet will present a program of composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Josef Suk, and Robert Schumann.

Peter Richard Conte and Andrew Ennis: Music for Flugelhorn and Organ Four-Hands Friday, February 23 8 pm Peter Richard Conte, Longwood Gardens Principal Organist and the long-time organist at the Wanamaker Grand Court Organ at Macy’s in Philadelphia, presents a program featuring transcriptions of Giacomo Puccini’s Quando m’en ‘vo and O mio babbino caro for flugelhorn and organ, as well as arrangements for organ four-hands with Andrew Ennis, flugelhorn player and organist.

Longwood presents legendary blues artists against the backdrop of our Main Conservatory adorned with blueowering plants such as hydrangeas, bluepoppies, and blue coleus.

In addition to the lineup of blues performances, each Saturday in March will also feature free blues music among the owers.

Heralded as “a living legend” (Berkeley Express), “a national treasure” (Guitar Extra), and “one of the greatest living blues artists”(Blues Revue), Rory Block is committed to preserving Delta Blues and bringing it to life. Known for her unique slide guitar style, Block is an award-winning blues artist.

Bryan Holten Sunday, March 4 3 pm A doctoral graduate of Eastman Conservatory of Music, Bryan Holten was most recently the Associate Minister of Music at the Wayne Presbyterian Church in Wayne, PA, where he directed two handbell choirs, a chamber orchestra, and accompanied the adult choirs.

Lúnasa Saturday, March 17 8 pm Internationally acknowledged as one of the best traditional Irish bands in recent times, Lúnasa returns to our Gardens.

Named after an ancient harvest festival, Lúnasa modernizes traditional Irish music and brings it to life like never before.

Neil Harmon Sunday, March 18 1 pm Neil Harmon enjoys a career as organist, conductor, composer, and teacher.

He is Director of Music and Organist at Grace United Methodist Church in Wilmington, Delaware, where he directs a semi-professional choir, a youth choir, and two bell choirs.

The program closes with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7.

Alan Morrison Saturday, April 21 8 pm Alan Morrison is the Head of the Organ Department at The Curtis Institute of Music, organ faculty at Westminster Choir College of Rider University, and College Organist at Ursinus College.

Renowned for introducing new works to audiences around the world, Morrison presents a program that includes Bach’s Passacaglia BVW 582 and transcriptions from Debussy and Rachmaninoff.

Brown-Urioste-Canellakis Trio Tuesday, May 1 8 pm Pianist Michael Brown, violinist Elena Urioste, and cellist Nicholas Canellakis make their Longwood debut with a chamber piece inspired by the Gardens themselves. Commissioned

by Longwood Gardens, The Gardens at Wave Hill, and the Desert Botanical Garden, Michael Brown has composed a three movement chamber work with each movement devoted to one of the gardens. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to hear this new composition devoted to the Garden world, along with other classical chamber works.
