BRAVE AT HEART NATURE SCHOOL

This is a parent-partnered preschool program for ages 3-6 that focuses on all the best philosophies (Montessori, Gardner, Reggio Emilia, Piaget, and more), while following the Forest School approach to outdoor learning. Parent participation is required, providing assistance and supervision of a group of students one or two weeks per session. Instructor: Alisa Lytle

Hula is the heartbeat of the Hawaiian people! Through dance steps and the basic hand motions, you'll learn the two types of Hawaiian dance: the ancient Hula Kahiko and the modern Hula Auana. Don't forget to bring your Aloha Spirit!

CINDERELLA DANCE CAMP

Immerse your children in the enchanting world of fairy tales such as Cinderella, Frozen, and Sleeping Beauty through the magic of dance!

Our campers will experiment with various dance styles as they rehearse for their mini performance. Additionally, each day will include a craft session and snacks to keep them energized. We encourage your child to wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement, and dressing up is also welcome!

Get moving with fun, lower intensity exercise! Especially designed to include the active older adult, someone who hasn't been exercising in a long time, or individuals who may be limited physically. Instructor has over 40 years teaching fitness classes.

YOGA - RESTORATIVE YIN

Gently and effectively help to restore balance to the mind, body and spirit. Focusing on deep breathing and mindful strategies to help you settle into each pose. Release, recovery, relaxation, surrender, and greater flexibility are the goals. All levels welcome! Bring a mat, blocks, and strap.

Choose a project such as a tote bag, placemat, pillowcase or skirt. Finish one or more projects depending on sewing ability and difficulty of project. The rental of these facilities is intended to enhance and promote the social, recreational, and cultural environment of the community. It is the intent of the City of Longview to encourage and permit the use of these areas to the public within the established policies detailed in the rental agreement packet available at the Longview Parks and Recreation office.

Financial Scholarships:

Financial assistance may be available for youth who, for financial reasons would be unable to participate in a recreation program. To be considered, a child must reside within the Longview city limits. Requests should be made at least five business days before the class begins. Contributions are accepted to help children that would otherwise be unable to participate in a class or program. Weather Policy:

All recreation programs are cancelled when Longview schools are closed due to weather. Morning recreation programs are cancelled when schools are delayed due to weather. Afternoon and evening recreation programs are cancelled when schools release or close early due to weather. Call the 360-442-5980 for additional information on weather related closures/delays.

Pre-registration Required:

Pre-registration is required for classes unless noted. Many classes fill up quickly so register early to ensure that you or your child will not be disappointed. Please note - same day “on-site” registration is rarely accepted by instructors.

Parks & Recreation Advisory Meetings:

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board are Longview residents who volunteer time for the preservation and development of parks, leisure, facilities, and recreation programs for the community. Meetings are generally held at 5:00 p.m. on the third Monday of each month at the Recreation Office.

Resident or Non-Resident?

A resident is anyone who lives or owns property within the Longview City limits. Even though your mailing address is “Longview” does not necessarily mean you are a city resident. Non-residents pay an additional $5 charge per class or program due at the time of registration. In-city status is determined by tax zoning.

If you are dissatisfied with your experience, use this form to notify the recreation office in writing prior to the second class to request a full refund. Refund Requests: Refund requests may be granted if the department is notified in writing three working days before the first class. Refunds are NOT available for one-day classes/events, team athletics, trips, or special events. All participant-initiated refunds are subject to the Recreation Manager’s, or designee’s, approval. Once approved, refunded fees can be applied to any current season activities, donated to our scholarship fund, or refunded by check or credit card within 20 days after approval.
