The Hordos and Weinbender Families wish to extend an invitation to our 20th Annual Bull Sale. Our hospitality will be second to none as well as the bulls in this years offering.
For 20 years our intentions have remained simple, to provide our customers with sound beef bulls that go out and work. The bulls are developed with longevity in mind and are backed by an accurate spread of information to help you select your next herd sire. From gestation length to ultrasound data all the tools are here, and we pride ourselves on that.
Our focus has always been to raise a fertile, productive cow herd. A 70-day breeding season has been our norm for many years. All AI and natural breeding dates are recorded which allows us to provide a gestation length for each calf born on the farm. Calving ease is of the utmost importance to us. Every calf is weighed within 12 hours of birth, again at weaning, then again at yearling. This information is key to help us with important herd management decisions. We continue to include ultrasound data, this provides us with another tool to compare sire groups within our program. The females in our herd all receive a disposition score, they all must maintain a respectable comfort level with us during calving and throughout the yearly routine.
Raising livestock that are consistent in quality and type is the outcome of our program. Order buyers across our nation pay premiums on pens of cattle that meet these criteria. We can guarantee the offering we have in this year’s sale is our top end, which is what our valued customers deserve.
If you have any questions on the sale feel free to give any one of us from Sliding Hills a call, Regards,
The Weinbenders

A note from Bohrson Marketing
On behalf of Sliding Hills and Mission Ridge, welcome to the 20th Annual Bull Sale. Wow 20 years… that’s an accomplishment! This year’s sale has plenty to offer, great Charolais and Hereford bulls in a friendly welcoming environment and a special surprise to celebrate 20 years of bull sales for the Weinbender Family. The Weinbenders have always been eager to supply a range of bulls for their clientele. Take for instance two bulls sure to help with some calving ease would be the LT Count Down and DCR New Salem bulls. With possibly more heifers saved back due to low cattle numbers these bulls should be seriously studied. I’d also like to note that they have some pretty overwhelming performance to boot. On the other hand, if you’re in the market looking for the bulls that can really put some flesh on the scale, some real performance is also available. Search out the DYV Paynes Halftime calves they are well known for adding length, thickness, hair and are quiet as can be!
The Sliding Hills gang is very proud of their momma cows, and rightfully so. When walking through them you can’t help but admire their femininity and their beautiful body shape with sound foot and leg structure. Be sure to check out the pictures on the reference dams page… you will see what I mean. With this in mind, I’ll talk about the special surprise. Charolais Breeders take note! Sliding Hills are offering up a once in lifetime opportunity. A pick of the heifer pen! This is a special offer to celebrate 20th Annual Bull Sale. A little twist, it’s not from the 2026 calf crop, it’s from the 2025 calf crop. Only 2 females have been sold in the past 15 yrs. Getting to come in and pick a heifer that has made it through the stringent culling program is a huge advantage to you. You can pick a heifer that has made every cut and is ready to be bred. Once you pick the heifer you can also access their bull battery, which is proven and very deep, or breed them to your own heifer bull. FYI, you might settle an argument which heifer is the best…Carey and Dale have been pointing out their top pick to me..im staying out of it. The true winner will be the buyer.
The gang over at Mission Ridge are very excited to bring probably their best set of bulls yet. I know that they strive to produce low maintenance cattle that minimize effort and inputs. Producing bulls that go and get the job done and done well! While talking with James, it’s clear that he is pretty high on a group of bulls with new genetics not only in their herd but not many others in Canada either. After a trip to tour a great group of cattle in Sheridan, Wyoming it was clear that he had to bring those same genetics into his own herd. The Hordos family jumped at the chance to buy some semen from the NJW 247C 41E Soul 173K. Take note of the added shape, length and red meat this bull brings to the table in a homo polled package. I for one am really looking forward to seeing them sale day.

25 PICK OF THE 2025 SLIDING HILLS CHAROLAIS HEIFER CALVES
In honor of our 20th annual sale, we wanted to do something special. After much deliberation we have decided to offer pick of the 2025 born heifer calves here at Sliding Hills. An opportunity that has never been offered during our time in the breed and may not be offered for another 20 years.
We have kept our cow herd closed, only selling 2 females in the last 15 years. The cow families run deep including the Shania’s, Adelaine’s, Miss Carlo’s, Callie’s, Serenade’s and the Sue’s. Our cow families we have built around years of strict culling. The females remaining have always been classed as the untouchables. This group of heifers features ET calves by our Shania 9E donor and M6 Germaine 484 (2 full sisters to SVY Historic 241K). Many of the heifers are off 4 herd sires including our proven calving ease specialist, DCR New Salem K142 who’s first daughters are milking this year and are flawless. Along with Sparrows Parker 806F, LT Countdown 9712, and DVY Paynes Halftime 11K
The selection must be made shortly after the sale, if the buyer wishes we will keep the heifer here and breed her to one of our herd sires.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or come tour the heifers before sale day. The coffee is always on. A list of heifers is available upon request. Selection to be made by April 1st, 2026
• Co-owned with Johnston Charolais, Rathwell Manitoba

Grace’s Blanket Auction
Grace, who turned 4 in January has experienced a year filled with both joyful moments and significant challenges. Born with Klippel-Feil Syndrome Type 4, Grace has faced more obstacles, yet she continues to defy expectations with remarkable strength and bravery each and every day.
Over the past year, Grace’s medical journey has brought additional diagnoses, each one difficult to navigate in its own way. Through it all we are deeply grateful for Hope’s Home, which has become an essential part of our lived, providing the critical medical care Grace needs and invaluable support to her parents. We are forever thankful for the opportunities and compassion they have given our family.
Quilt will be auctioned off at the beginning of the sale.
All proceeds go to Hope’s Home in Regina, SK

Welcome!
As we hit this point in time in the year preparing for our 2026 bull sale, it gives me another chance to reflect on our last year’s successful sale. A special thankyou to everyone who expressed interest and purchased last year and years prior!
Congratulations to the Weinbender’s on hitting the 20 year milestone with this bull sale! We love working with Carey, Lee Ann, and Dale each year and we look forward to celebrating on sale day!
There are several ups and downs that occur over the year in any cattle operation. Having said that, it is truly a rewarding and much deserving time to be in the cattle business, as we all know the grit and determination it takes raising livestock.
Again, this year we are truly proud to present our 2026 offering! While writing this, we sit at the halfway point in our calving season. With that we are calving out half and some full sisters to bulls we have sold in years prior and that excites us a bunch. Witnessing this truly makes me feel we are on the right track as a purebred operation. Although dad has been raising purebreds for a long time, I look back at when I started in the picture and seeing what we all went through in selecting genetics that worked for us, and trying to overcome some of the ones that didn’t to the point now where I truly believe our cows are doing a lot more of the work than we are, and that excites me. Low maintenance cattle are something we strive towards, please feel free to stop in any time to tour the cows and bulls to see the path we are on!
Please use this as an invitation to join us on March 21 st , either in person or on DLMS!
Sincerely,
James and Sarah

THE PERCENTAGE CALVING CHART
1. In any breed, the average beef cow should calve 7% of her body weight.
2. Charolais and Hereford cows weigh on average between 1200-1800 lbs. Expect a calf birth weight between 98 and 126 lbs.
3. Calving ease is MORE important than birth weight. A longer calf will calve easy but the extra length of body will add birth weight.
AVERAGE GESTATION LENGTH
CHAROLAIS: 286 days
HEREFORDS: 285 days
