The Hunt for a Little Bit of Everything

When it comes to shopping, everyone is always on a hunt. Some are searching for the perfect blouse that transitions from work to after hours. Others are searching for a gift for dear Aunt Sally or for Uncle Bob, who is always collecting. Then there is the special treat that hunters pick up for themselves. The experience becomes easier when a little bit of everything is found in one store.
Leon Thomas Treasures, located in downtown Kinston, is bustling with customers dropping by for a quick purchase or lingering for a visit and a stroll. “Leon Thomas is a multifunctional boutique offering a little bit of everything and a large selection of clothes and “Made in North Carolina” products,” said Manager Bonnie Foy. “You can’t come in and not find something you want,” she added, “and you can’t see it all in one visit.”
Every corner of the store is filled with something different. Steak sauces and rubs are to the right or a hand painted birthday card is to the left. Take time and enjoy the hunt, the “treasure” is yours to find. Foy enjoys meeting customers and learning about their shopping interests as she uses the information to influence purchasing decisions for the shop. She rotates
merchandise regularly to ensure the latest trends are always available. The store, which once housed only artisan goods, has expanded. Leon Thomas Treasures includes clothing, jewelry, pocketbooks, housewares, artwork, gifts, and locally made and North Carolina made goods.
“We offer customers a broad range of products that are all different and unique—and not found at every store,” she said.
The inclusion of local, regional and statewide artisans is important to Foy. “I am happy to share the special products made around North Carolina. Each of our businesses support each other; there is good all around,” she said.
While there are good treasures to be found in Leon Thomas, there is also lively conversation and community connectivity.
“My love is retail. I love seeing people and helping put a smile on their faces,” said Foy. “Retail is all about personalization, and I love coming to this place and seeing what I can do to help someone find the right item for themselves or someone else.”
