The only blemish so far in their record is a Sept. 8 loss against Faith Lutheran, where the Crusaders scored 0-21 win against Basic.

Although the Western Warriors put up a fight, they were plagued with flags and penalties, as they tried des perately to get any edge over Basic.
Their first game of the year was a 30-6 win against the Centennial Bulldogs on Aug. 25.
After the loss to Faith Lutheran, Coach Glenn Combs said the freshmen “will definitely be hun gry for another win and I have no doubt that we will bounce back.”

Following their groundshak ing debut, the freshmen team went on to devastate the Western Warriors on Sept. 1, deliver ing a rousing 39-0 victory.
Although the first two games were won easily enough, the most recent Sept. 8 game against Faith Lutheran provided a challenge to keep the freshmen on their toes.

From Youth Leagues to High School
Three years ago, Coach D made the decision to add high school football coaching to his roster, having pre viously coached only youth leagues.

“I coached youth football for twelve years, and once I saw all the kids that I started out with go to high school, I kinda just wanted to follow them and keep them on the right track,” said Coach D.
“First I look for someone who has good grades so that they’re eligible and able to be on the field; I look for someone who has that ‘don’t quit’ at titude and is just willing to work hard on and off the field,” said Coach D. Football players have been practicing throughout summer to get prepared for the season.

Following these events on Friday afternoon the varsity football team will be playing in this year’s home coming game against Durango. The
cil is making preparations for the 2022-2023 Homecom ing. They are developing themes for the dance, spirit days and sev eral ways on how to bring in in volvement from the student body.

Members of this year’s Student Council are striving towards more accessible and inclusive dress up days to encourage more students to be involved without having to go out of their way. Themes of these spirit days will ideally allow participants to wear items they already own so they can easily show their school spirit.

StuCo Gets Ready for Homecoming
Saturday morning the final prepa rations for homecoming will begin with the decorations for the dance in the school’s quad. Student coun cil members and other volunteers will work diligently to get the space pre pared for the dance later in the day.

Other than spirit days, Basic Acad emy’s Homecoming brings much more to the calendar. On Friday, Oct. 14 there will be a student coun cil lead assembly at the end of the school day and later a parade full of student and club organized floats as well as band and cheerleaders from Basic and other schools. The stu dent elected Homecoming court will also be featured in the parade.
As per usual, the student coun cil will release a theme for the stu dent section at the homecoming game to bring even more school spirit into the game. People attend ing will also get to see the Homecom ing court officially announced on the football field during half-time.

We lost Quinton tragically at the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting on October 1, 2017 in Las Vegas at only 20 years old This foundation was created in his name to honor the life he lived. He set an example to us by helping others on a daily basis. Our goal with this foundation is to continue helping others by providing athletic scholarships for middle school and high school students as well as contributing scholarships to organized sports through the valley
