“We had been growing year-on-year since 2015 and then the pandemic hit and provided us with a further massive lift,” Jim explains. “Local shoppers started to visit even more frequently and were buying bigger baskets, but we also attracted new shoppers from further afield,” Jim adds.

“Fortunately, we’ve held on to those elevated sales levels, so in March 2022 we decided on another refit to keep that momentum going and provide an even better offer for our loyal shoppers.”

That refit required a three-day closure which once again saw Jim and Leanne lead adopt a hands-on approach – including one memorable 22-hour day as the pair worked to bring their vision to life. That kind of support is hugely reassuring. We really are a very happy store with a great team too. All our staff are local, many have worked here for years and they know most, if not all, of our local shoppers, as do we of course.”

Needless to say, those local shoppers are thrilled with their new-look store.

“Sales are growing week on week,” Jim says “and shoppers say they love what they see. We are just hitting the all-important summer season now which brings a lot of additional visitors to the area plus many second home owners. Many of those are just seeing the transformation for the first time and the reaction is overwhelmingly positive.
