2018-2019 Your Impact at Work
The 2018-2019 LLA Impact Fund YOU are making a difference. Thanks to you, our students are being provided with educational tools that allow them to learn, develop, and thrive in various ways:
$14,000 for STEM Equipment
The Elementary used funds to purchase the following STEM equipment: • A STEM cart • A Chromebook cart – Used to charge and store Chromebook touchscreen computers • Elmo – Camera device used for projection in teaching • Three Apple TV’s • Five Osmos – An Osmo is an educational, interactive, and independent learning system that helps students develop math concepts, foster critical thinking, and build a foundation for coding and engineering. • 12 sets of headphones • 30 iPads – Used for Accelerated Reader and with the Osmos learning system
$15,000 for Children’s Center Play Equipment • New water-play playground equipment was installed, replacing the worn-out and dated equipment that had served the Children’s Center for over 20 years.

Year in Review 2018-2019
High School Gym Renovation: On Monday, October 8, 2018, the high school unveiled the most recent renovations in the gym. These renovations included the installation of air conditioning, new installation of lighting and sound, and a complete renovation of locker rooms and bathrooms. A total of $700,000 was raised for the $2.8 million project. Built in 1970, the high school gym has undergone various minor renovations over the last 25 years. In 1996, the gym floor was re-finished, followed by a complete remodel of the gym lobby in 2008. Thank you to those who have supported and continue to support this campaign.
Roadrunners Athletics
Loma Linda Academy’s athletic program continues to grow and flourish with a total of 18 competitive teams. Student athletes are challenged both on and off the court and are required to maintain a level of success in the classroom while meeting their commitments and obligations to their respective team. These demands, both mental and physical, allow our student-athletes to experience and put into practice real-life expectations that await them once their competitive careers are over. Quinton Webb, a sophomore on the boys’ basketball team, recently had the opportunity to experience competition at one of the highest levels in his sport. This past August, Webb had the privilege of participating in the Jr. NBA Global Championship Tournament, televised nationally on ESPN and Fox Sports. Not only did he participate, but he helped lead his team to
the tournament title. They defeated the No. 1 seed, from the Southeast region where they eventually defeated Africa, 70-61, for the tournament title. The youth basketball tournament, which is held in Orlando, Florida, consists of the top 13- and 14-year old boys and girls teams from around the world. Roadrunners Athletics has also been represented by Next Level Sports, which is currently running an afterschool program as well as summer camps in various sports. This program is geared towards younger age groups and is focused on instruction along with growing character through athletics. Visit the following links for more information on LLA Athletics roadrunnerathletics.com and Next Level Sports www.thenlsp.com.
2018 Roadrunner Golf Classic
On Sunday, September 24, 2018, the 19th Annual LLA Roadrunner Golf Classic was held at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon, in Beaumont, CA. The tournament, sponsored by OctoClean, raised a gross total of over $90,000, and supported 63 students with financial aid. A total of 120 golfers came out to enjoy a round of golf and camaraderie to benefit our students. All proceeds from the golf tournament go directly towards helping students attend Loma Linda Academy. Thank you to all of our sponsors and supporters of the LLA Roadrunner Golf Classic.

Year in Review 2018-2019
LLA Music In the midst of practicing, performing, and fulfilling their concert schedules during the 2018-2019 school year, LLA’s Music Department found a way to give back. After the Camp Fire decimated the town of Paradise, CA, the music department donated the entire offering from their annual Hallelujah Vespers concert, held on December 1, 2018, at the Loma Linda University Church. Over $9,000 was collected and donated to Paradise Adventist Academy to help the members of that community who lost everything and were displaced by the fire. The year culminated with a band and choir tour to Europe. The LLA Wind Symphony visited the countries of Germany and Austria, while Pro Musica spent their time in England. The LLA Orchestra remained stateside and visited the San Francisco Bay Area for their annual tour. To access concert schedules and to stay up-todate with the LLA Music Department, please visit www.lla.org/student-life/music.
