On Wednesday, March 17 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. seniors will be celebrated, kicking off on-campus learning. Seniors are asked to wear your new class t-shirts and Jeans. If you weren’t able to pick up the class t-shirts at vespers you may pick them up in Brobs room on Wednesday from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM.
As of 15 March 2021, California has officially reach the red tier of the state’s reopening plan. LLA high school is opening on March 17, 2021 for the previously mentioned event. On 18 March 2021, freshman, sophomore, juniors and will join the seniors on campus for their regular classes.
After Spring Break, Loma Linda High School, will be following a new class schedule. Check Page 5, to see the new schedule.
Currently, basketball, softball, soccer, swimming, and golf practices are taking place. It is possible that there will be sports seasons this year, if the COVID-19 cases stay under control.
Campus Ministries is now offering new community service opportunities for all LLA students! Different opportunities will be available every week so sign up on the campus ministry website to save your spot for community service and get your hours in quicker!
Due to the recent inclement weather the freshman and sophomore vespers have been moved from March 12 to April 2.
In celebration of Black History Month, the BSA sponsored a series of four open conversations in a series titled: “Fridays in February for the Culture.” The virtual programs addressed convene each Friday afternoon at 1:30. Programs featured student a mixer game, slide presentation, group discussion and alumni panel. Open conversations encouraged participants to interact with presenters and among themselves. Attendance increased with each passing Friday with 35 on the first Friday to 69 on the final Friday. BSA president, Elizabeth Mtango (2021), was pleased with the club’s programs which “shed light on issues many Black students have faced in isolation.” In the safety of the club meetings members can find support. Faith Ncube (2023), club vice president was pleased with the improving quality of the programs which reached a peak with the alumni presentations. “They [alumni] were so good,” she beamed. BSA sponsor, Dr. Andy Sandiford (English) and advisor, Pastor Baron Savory were pleased with the diligence of the club’s l nine-member leadership team which “worked well together to bring programs that opened meaningful dialogue. In addition to BSA members, attendees included LLA students, faculty, parents, and members of the community at large. As the event wrapped up on Friday, February 26, the words of Erin Stone (LLA 2024) rang true, “We need to continue these important conversations beyond Black History month, so we can understand each other better.”
