History of Logan University

Named for its president and founder, Hugh B. Logan, DC, Logan opened in 1935 under the name Logan Basic College of Chiropractic. Its first class of seven men and women enrolled that fall and would go on to graduate in 1939.

Between 1958 and 1964, Logan merged with the Carver College of Chiropractic from Oklahoma City and the Missouri Chiropractic College. Following these merges, Logan changed its name to Logan College of Chiropractic.

In 1973, Logan acquired its current residence - 112 acre wooded hilltop and buildings that once housed Maryknoll Seminary – in Chesterfield, Missouri. In 2007, MSNBC named Logan one of “America’s Most Beautiful Campuses.”

In 2013, Logan College of Chiropractic became Logan University to recognize the expanding College of Health Sciences.

Logan is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, as well as the Council on Chiropractic Education, and continues to augment academic offerings to meet current health care demands.
