January 10 - 16, 2011 NEWS FROM IN AND AROUND THE LOGAN CAMPUS There have been several rank changes among a number of Logan faculty members. They include: Dr. Marcus DeGeer, Clinical Science, assistant professor to associate professor; Dr. Jeffrey Kamper, Yorkshire Health Center, instructor to assistant professor; Dr. Anthony Miller, Chiropractic Science, instructor to assistant professor; Dr. Mary-Unger Boyd, assistant professor to associate professor; and Dr. Pamela Wakefield, Veterans Memorial Health Center, assistant professor to associate professor. Congratulations to all. Several employees are celebrating significant years of service to Logan. They are: Dr. Ralph Filson, Chiropractic Science (30 years); Maureen Alli, GSS (25 years); Gregory McDaniel, Physical Plant Custodial (10 years); and Lenny Glenn, Accounting (5 years). Thank you! Congratulations to Dr. Jason Goodman, Chiropractic Health division and Student Health Center, and Jessica Goodman, Purchasing department, on the birth of their son Jace George Goodman, who was born January 7 at 10:56 a.m. He weighed in at 7 lbs. 9 oz. and was 21 inches long. Mom, baby, dad and grandparents Drs. George and Elizabeth Goodman are all doing well. Congratulations also to Wayne and Sharon Kehrer, vice president of administrative affairs, on the birth of their granddaughter Melody Marie Gagliano, who arrived at 8:12 a.m. on January 7 at 8 lbs. 14 oz. and 21 ½ inches. The Wall Street Journal recently reported the results from a study of the "Best Jobs in 2010." Doctors of Chiropractic ranked #56. Medical doctors were rated #128. The worst job was roustabout (physical laborer on oil rigs and pipelines). The best-rated job was actuary. Go figure. (P.S. Public relations executive ranked #113.) Dr. Laney Nelson, director of the BIOFREEZE® Sports & Rehabilitation Center on the Logan campus, will present a lower extremity stress syndromes seminar at the 5th Annual Professional Football Chiropractic Educational Seminar on February 27 in Indianapolis, Ind. Dr. Nelson will explain how to manage these syndromes with taping and posting the sock liners and shoes as well as through manipulation and talar glide function. He will leave Logan on Feb. 26 and return the evening of Feb. 27 and will take four (4) students with him. Please stop by the BIOFREEZE Center to sign up for this event. FROM THE OFFICE OF STUDENT SERVICES ATTENTION TUTORS: There will be a mandatory meeting of all tutors on Thursday, January 20 from 11 a.m. until noon in room 142A. Lunch will be served. Please RSVP to Student Services no later than Tuesday, January 18. Also, please let Student Services know when you plan to offer group tutoring sessions so that the schedule can be completed. Let’s get this done as soon as possible so that we can get started. REMINDER TO ALL STUDENTS: Whenever you move or get a new phone number, be sure to update your information with the Registrar’s office. STUDENT WORKERS NEEDED FOR COMP BOARDS: Student workers are needed with the Comp Board Exam on Thursday, January 13, 2011. Pay is $7.25 an hour plus snacks. Start time is 7 a.m. sharp and
