EFORE me on my desk lies a watch. It is a small watch and

bears the name of a maker noted for his attention to detail,

for his interest in the beautiful, and for his craftsmanship in the painstaking placement of each part. Each wheel, each screw, each spring, as in all watches, has some definite function, but each of these is a tiny marvel of precision. The case is a rare thing, and its design could only emanate from the mi nd of one who loves his work .

Before me in front of my desk stands another intri.cate product of fine workmanship, a young man. His Creator is the Master Craftsman, one to whom time and effort mattered not, but only perfection of detail . Through the centuries this Craftsman strove always to improve each time upon his former efforts with the result that man's body, if not defective, is the epitome of a well-balanced, smooth-running mechanism .

Unfortunately, he could not provide against man's indiscretions and maltreatment of the thing he had struggled to achieve for human kind-a body structure meticulously planne d to provide the utmost in health, thus there often results some inadequacy, some man -caused body deficiency. But in his way the Artisan was most considerate in that he provided the intelligent man with the opportunity to have these discrepancies corrected through Logan Basic Technique.

HE officers of the Logan Basic College of Chiropractic, being aware of the need for increased and uniform educational qualifications for the chiropractor of the future, have sponsored the program for professionally owned and controlled Chiropractic institutions. The Logan Basic College of Chiropractic is a non-profit institution as provided for at its inception, and will be professionally owned when and if any group of members of our profession find themselves in a position able and willing to assume financial and professional obligations necessary to the successful culmination of such a broad project .

Experience and the procedures of other well-established professions, resulting in the final ownership and control of their educational institutions by those professions, prove the need and valu3 of professionally owned and controlled Chiropractic educational institutions, to eliminate thereby th3 profit factor, which has long since been excluded from practically all oth e r professional health educational institutions .

CLINIC

COURSES OF STUDY The installation of university-trained instructors makes possible the culmination of Dr. Logan's plans to provide a course of study in the basic subjects unsurpassed in the Chiropractic educational field and sufficient to fully qualify the apt student to meet the graduate of any other health educational institution on an equitable basis.

ANATOMY

This course offers the student an opportunity to study the gross structures of the human body. A complete course in dissection permits the student to study the integuments, muscles, ioints, skeleton, viscera, vascular system, peripheral nerves, and sense organs. Lectures, demonstrations, and recitations correlate the observations made in the laboratory with the observations made from a study of the anatomy of the living specimen and X-ray films.

BACTERIOLOGY

This course considers the morphology and metabolism of the bacteria associated with disease. Differentiation by means of staining and growth on the various media is demonstrated . The immunological reactions of the body are finally discussed.

CHEMISTRY

The beginning course in inorganic chemistry, including quantitative and qualitative analysis, is followed by a developmental discussion of organic reactions with special reference to the chemistry of the human body. The final course includes a study of the fats, proteins, and carbohydrates, the chemistry of digestion, absorption, and metabolism. Diet and the tissues of the body are considered . The endocrine system is also discussed from the standpoint of chemistry.

CHIROPRACTIC TECHNIQU E In this division is la id the nucleus about which the AND APPLICATION student will later build his professional success.

Stress is laid on the advanced principles of Logan Ba sic Te c hnique ; t hrough it~ pro per application the student gains a knowledge of scientific and co nsistent reduction and correction of the causes of disease. All known valuable, corrective adjusting procedures are included.

For the first time, perhaps, and through the aid of X-ray, constantly changing but never before scientifically corrected defects in body structure are explained.

Palpation, taught in the first part of the freshman year, provides for a tactile recognition of normal or a bnormal location of the spinal sections, includes ne rve tracing, and affords a basis for the further study of manual examination.

In Orthopedy an intensive, detailed study is made of the body framework, and especially the pelvis and spinal column, the peculiarities of individual vertebrae, the synd e smology or ligamentous complements, and the myology or related muscular structure of the spinal column. This subject is taught in tho latter trimester of the first year.

COURSES OF STUDY-Continued Logan Basic Technique Theory and Practice: In the first and second trimesters of the second year, the theory of Logan Basic Technique is propounded, wherein vertebral subluxation and spinal scoliosis are shown to be the direct or indirect results of abnormality of the foundation of the spinal column, and the methods whereby they may be corrected are explained. Manual examination is combined with diagnosis by X-ray, and extended into a determination of mechanical factors responsible for structural body distortions. Basic 'r echnique diagnosis includes also a study of weight distribution as a basis for body imbalance and distortion .

Actual contact drill and practice are begun in the third trimester, and by the end of the second year, adjustments are exchanged among the students.

In the third and fourth years technique drill and practice are continued in classes and clinic, where the student develops skill and proficiency and adds otherwise to his knowledge .

CLINIC

Students, on reaching their third or junior year, are placed in charge of clinic patients. Here the student is afforded the opportunity to meet and solve the actual problems that he will encounter in practice. Under faculty supervision, students X-ray their cases, determine the proper adjustment by manual examination and X-ray interpretation, and give the adjustments. An office record, similar to that which the average practitioner finds necessary and practical, is kept by the student.

Because of the health-giving atmosphere and ideal location of the College and the efficiency of clinic procedure, the type of patient is attracted whom the student later, as a practitioner, will welcome in his practice.

DERMATOLOGY

Lectures are given on diseases of the skin and on syphilis which provide a general survey of the etiology, pathology, and symptomatology of the skin diseases.

DIAGNOSIS

A thorough consideration of the physical diagnosis of disease is

offered in this course, which is closely correlated with pathology and physiology and follows the course in bacteriology. The technique of the chemical and microscopic analysis of the blood and urine, sputum examination, and other aids toward making a correct diagnosis is included in this study.

DIETETICS

In this course lectures are given upon the various foods and beverages and their proper use to minimize the effects of disease.

COURSES OF STUDY-Continued EMBRYOLOGY

A study of the developmental anatomy of the human embryo is offered in this course. Lectures and demonstrations are given which describe the development, maturation, and fertilization of the human germ cells; the development of the embryo and growth of the fetus; origin and development of the various structures of the human body; and the various anomalies which result in the congenital defects. Laboratory facilities are correlated with the class work in human embryology.

HISTOLOGY

This course provides a study of the micro-anatomy of the skin and other tissues of the body. Laboratory facilities including the microprojector are provided for the study of histological sections.

HYGIENE AND PUBLIC HEALTH

All the practical phases of hygiene and public health will be taught in special classes as well as incorporated with related subjects. These subjects are of interest to the practitioners of all health methods because of their importance to public comfort, health, and well-being.

OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY

These subjects will be taught in a manner consistent with genera/ requirements and the needs of the future Chiropractic practitioner.

PATHOLOGY

This course is closely correlated with the course in diagnosis and the course in physiology. Both the gross and microscopic study of diseased tissues and organs are considered.

Diseases of childhood are shown to be the direct or indirect result of derangements of the body framework . A proper understanding lrnd application of procedures used to correct distortions or faults in the juvenile's spine and general health and to eliminate the need of braces, casts, etc., are made clear.

PEDIATRICS

PHYSIOLOGY

Opportunity is provided for the students to learn the functions of the human body. As far as practicable, demonstrations described in the lectures are made in the classroom. Lectures are given on the physiology of the muscle and nerve, central nervous system special senses, blood and lymph, organs of circulation, respiration, digestion and secretion, nutrition and heat production and regulation, and the physiology of reproduction.

COURSES OF STUDY-Continued PSYCHOLOGY

This lecture course deals with the psychology of the normal and the abnormal. The individual is studied as a whole; his activities are described, and the different physiological factors which present the diological basis for the various syndromes are considered .

X-RAY PHYSICS AND INTERPRETATION

X-ray Physics includes a working knowledge of the X-ray apparatus; the technical procedures for bone, soft tissue, degeneration, ma li gnancy, trauma, localization, and fluoroscopic work, and a study of the factors providing for the most diagnosable roentgenograms in the various requirements .

Specialization is made in fourteen by thirty-six inch or full-spine X-ray, which plays an important part in Basic Techniq ue diagnosis. A detailed, technical analysis of each abnormal factor is en terta ined .

The IDgan Basic College of Chiropractic is the only college teaching I.Dgan Basic Technique.

This new and most modern method for the correction of spinal abnonnali ti es, as well as the straightening of the spine itself, is being used by some two thousand practicing chiroprac-' tors toda,y.

It is the most effective, advanced method known to our profession, and has for its objective the ultimate in body repair. INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

An app licant must have high school credits equal to those granted in grade A high sc hools. Formal application blanks will be furnished upon request. After supplying all information therein, applicant shou ld return the blank, and in addition, should request the high school or college which he attended to send complete transcripts of his high schoo l or college cred its directly to the Logan Basic College of Chiropractic.

CREDITS

Students a nd graduates of recognized Chiropractic colleges, teaching only resident courses, will be allowed credits graded upon the basis of credit allowance in the Logan Basic College of Chiropractic. Qualifying diplomas wil l be conferred upon bona fide graduates of privately owned and controlled schools or colleges that become affiliated , or are absorbed by the Logan Basic College of Chiropractic.

WHEN TO ENROLL

Matriculation dates are on September 1 , Jan u a r Y 1, and June 1. Students should enroll on or as near these dates as possible, to eliminate confusion and avoid making up lost time. Special attention will be given, however-, to st ud ents who enroll between these dates.

TUITION

The tuition is $1,000, payable either upon entrance, or $325 the first year , $275 t he second year, $225 the third, and $175 the fourth year.

We advocate and use standard, original textbooks. The cost of texts and supplies per year is approximately $25.

REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION

The candidate must be at least twenty-one years of age and of good moral character. He must have attended not less than thirty-six months of Chiropractic instruction. He must have taken all obligatory courses offered at the Logan Basic College of Chiropractic, and have received a satisfactory grade during the four terms. He must have discharged all indebtedness to the College , and must be present when the degree is conferred.

Upon graduation the degree Doctor of Chiropractic will be co nferred, with a diploma certifying a thirty-six months' course of attendance. A Bachelor of Science de~ree is ai..arded for exceptional scholastic achievement.

LIVING EXPENSES

Room and meals at the dormitory are provided for as low as $1.00 per day; accommodations otherwise are as reasonably priced as in other cities of similar size.

HEALTH OF STUDENT

HROUGH the application of natural scientific procedures contained exclusively in Logan Basic Technique, and taught in the College of Chiropractic, it is possible to correct the primary cause of disease scientifically and permanently.

A fourteen by thirty-six inch X-ray spinograph of every student is taken at date of matriculation, at a nominal charge to cover cost of materials used. He is given regular adjustments throughout his college schedule. The student's health is of primary importance to his success; furthermore, the health of a chiropractor should exemplify the merits of his profession. A normal spine is the essential requisite of normal posture and health.

The installation of modern X-ray equipment in the College laboratory affords the sfodent comprehensive proof of the cause of disease and the consistent decrease in spinal subluxation and body distortion accompanying or preceding permanent improvement in health as possible through the application of Logan Basic Technique.

A series of X-rays taken during the four years' course will reveal that the practice taught will correct spinal defects-restore the body to its natural state of abundant vitality and physical well-being.
