August 22 – September 4, 2011 LOGAN GRADUATES 66 DOCTORS OF CHIROPRACTIC AT AUGUST COMMENCEMENT; 26 STUDENTS RECEIVE MASTER’S DEGREE IN SPORTS SCIENCE AND REHABILITATION Logan College of Chiropractic/University Programs held its 165th commencement at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 20 in the William D. Purser, DC Center on the Logan campus. Charles Feltmann, the behind-the-scenes director of graduation planning, reports that 66 candidates received their doctorate degrees. Also, 26 students received their Masters in Sports Science and Rehabilitation degrees from Logan. They were: Ian Philipe Ahearn, DC; Carson Richard Aune, DC; Guillermo Bello Betancourt, DC; Abraham M. Carpenter, DC; Nicholas Scott Curry, DC; Avid Geoffrey Doiron, DC; Tracy M. Ford, DC; Brandon Fox, DC; Brett Patrick Guist; Jeremy D. Hunter, DC; Benjamin Lynn Johnson, DC; Micah J. Lieberman, DC; Eric U. Luke, DC; Joshua R. Luster, DC; Tiffany A. Miller; James W. Z. Myers, DC; Natalie Brooke Pendergrass, DC; Rance E. Peters, DC; Joshua D. Prange, DC; Michael Anthony Preneta, DC; Kari Elizabeth Schmidt, DC; Jilynn Sloppy, DC; Conrad M. Taylor, DC; Jamie Renee Tripp, DC; Lee T. Westmoreland, DC; and Kristy Taree Williams, DC. Logan President George A. Goodman, DC, FICC, and other college officials led the ceremony. Associate Professor Daryl Ridgeway, DC, chair of the Chiropractic Science Division, served as master of ceremonies. The commencement speaker was Kent S. Greenawalt, president and CEO of Foot Levelers Inc. Mr. Greenawalt received an honorary degree of doctor of laws at the commencement. Magna cum graduate Carolyn L. McGrath delivered the valedictorian address. She was also presented with the Dr. Al Chamberlain Student Doctor Award which includes a $1,000 scholarship. Logan’s 49th Awards Presentation was held on Friday, August 19 at a special breakfast in the Purser Center. Eight graduates were recognized with special academic honors. They included: valedictorian Carolyn L. McGrath, Amanda M. Stolle and Kevin P. Ward, magna cum laude (3.74 GPA or better); Timothy A. Wanninger, Henry W. Krug IV, Lydia D. Ogden and Megan K. Floarke, cum laude (3.6 GPA or better). Four graduates were selected for inclusion in the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges. They were: Carolyn L. McGrath, Amanda M. Stolle, Timothy A. Wanninger and Kevin P. Ward. Other honorees included: Carolyn L. McGrath, Basic Science Division Award; Chiropractic Science Division Awards: Dean H. Powell, Logan Basic Technique Award; Michael S. Harbison, Diversified Technique Award; Jude A. Miller and Joseph N. Snyder, overall Chiropractic Science Division Award; Clinical Science Division Award: Carolyn L. McGrath; Learning Resources Center Awards: Jude A. Miller and Kevin P. Ward; Radiology Department Award: Carolyn L. McGrath; Research Department Award: Jared M. Gullet, Henry W. Krug IV, Amanda M. Stolle, Holly A. Tucker and Kevin P. Ward; and Sports and Rehabilitation Department Award: Eric D. Dixon. Health Center Achievement Awards were presented to: Demetrius L. Anderson, Garrett T. Bruni, Ashley L. Eavenson, Michael S. Harbison, Carolyn L. McGrath, Jude A. Miller, Timothy M. Plumley, Joseph N. Snyder and Jeffrey T. Yates. Health Center Senior Intern Assistant Awards were presented to: Joshua M. Bell, Garrett T. Bruni, Kristie L. Davis, Jeaana L. Gifford, Jared M. Gullett, Michael S. Harbison, Margaret A. O’Toole, Anthony M. Pasek, Timothy M. Plumley, Nathaniel K. Ritchie, Amanda M. Stolle, Rebecca K.
