April 25 – May 7, 2011 LOGAN GRADUATES 89 NEW DOCTORS OF CHIROPRACTIC AND 33 MASTER’S DEGREE STUDENTS AT APRIL 23 COMMENCEMENT IN THE PURSER CENTER Logan College of Chiropractic held its 164th commencement for the degree of Doctor of Chiropractic on Saturday, April 23, 2011 in the William D. Purser, DC Center on the Logan campus. Charles Feltmann, the behind-the-scenes director of graduation planning, reports that 89 candidates received their doctorate degrees. Also, 33 students received their Masters in Sports Science and Rehabilitation degrees from Logan. The colorful ceremony featured on-stage flags from countries represented among the Logan student body and the academic hooding of each graduate. Logan President George A. Goodman, DC, FICC, and other college officials led the ceremony. John L. Gutweiler, PhD, professor in the Logan Basic Science Division, served as master of ceremonies. The commencement speaker was Professor Gerard W. Clum, DC, past president of Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, Calif. Conrad M. Taylor, who graduated summa cum laude (3.88 GPA or better), delivered the valedictorian address. Thirteen other graduates were also recognized with special academic honors. They included: magna cum laude (3.4 GPA or better) honorees Daniel A. Brink, Kathryn E. Baker, Luke A. Bennett, Bonnie E. Davis, Emily M. Barks, Ian P. Ahearn, Alyssa J. Schneider, Bradley T. Zinkel, Kathryn E. Weessies and Lena G. Haggerty. Cum laude (3.6 GPA or better) graduates included Brettany L. Hummert, Nicholas S. Curry and Trenton S. Stevens. Jason Biondo was the recipient of the $1,000 Dr. Al Chamberlin Student Doctor Award presented by the Logan Alumni Association. A number of 50+-year Logan alumni attended the graduation weekend activities.
