WHERE DO I START? Where do I start? My first such report to our school community was thirty one years ago at the end of our first year as a school in 1990. That was an especially challenging year, but for exciting reasons and I found writing about the year very enjoyable and almost entirely positive. Between then and 2020, our school, like all others has experienced many highs and only a few lows – ensuring that this annual task been relatively pain-free. Not so this time. The twin impact of COVID-19 and tragedy that struck our school this year certainly challenged us all beyond our wildest expectations of what a really tough school year could look like. In saying that, I hasten to add that I am extremely proud of our staff, students and parents in ensuring that it was not a wasteland of a year .Many good things still happened; not the least being that by year’s end all children were back at school and their infectious enthusiasm and camaraderie made the world of difference for us all. 2020! WHAT A YEAR! January 2020 started the year for me personally in a bushfire at Mallacoota. This was one experience I will never forget, as we had family who lost everything. Thankfully, we were all ok and still have each other. The day before teachers returned to school, my husband and I were flown back to Mallacoota by the air force to retrieve my car and then return to Melbourne. It was quite an emotional start to the school year. From day one, our staff quickly settled into the school routine, welcoming our new preps and returning students. Concerns were raised about the unknown Covid 19 virus as we started to hear more about what was happening overseas. In January, who would have thought that we would be learning remotely from home for a large part of the school year and our families would be impacted by a pandemic that has changed the world. Throughout the year, our students, staff, and families have remained connected via technology, learned new skills, shared google classrooms with their students, discovered online learning platforms, websites, and looked at many â€˜facesâ€™ on a computer screen. It certainly has been a very different way to learn. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Berwick Lodge who have supported, nurtured, and educated our students whilst remaining positive and connected via technology, and then face-to-face when remote learning concluded. Personally, there have been positives from the experience including spending more time with my immediate family, gardening and enjoying nature, exercising, and appreciating just the simple things that make our lives fulfilled. It was lovely to welcome back our students at the start of term 4, talk to parents, even though they were outside the school grounds, observing social distancing and wearing face masks, but the smiles of students returning to see their teachers and friends were wonderful. The school year is nearly finished, but it certainly will be one in which I will never forget. Even though there have been many challenges, I find focusing on the positives, even if they are only small at the time, helps move on to new challenges. Thank you to all our families for what you have done during the year to support your children with their learning, even under very difficult and challenging circumstances! I look forward to what 2021 brings and wish everyone a happy, healthy, and safe holiday!

STAYING HOPEFUL No one can deny that 2020 has been a year like no other and everyone has a different story to tell. Covid-19 brought with it unique and unprecedented challenges. We were shaken from our daily routines, and while everything around us came to a stop, at school we had to act quickly, changing the way we work, learn and interact. From a professional perspective we witnessed innovation and adaptation and overall the resilience of our staff and students as they embraced the uncertainty of what was to come. Teachers worked hard to develop, and present the curriculum content through the use of Google Classrooms, but as educators our role isn’t only to develop and present curriculum content. We are also deeply invested in the children’s welfare. School is a place where students have relationships with friends, class mates, team mates, and teachers, all of whom make a difference to our lives. The loss of school and the relationships structure and routine it provides for children and adults can’t be underestimated. Digital connectedness eased the disconnection felt by many, but could not replace the isolation felt in its entirety. Covid-19 certainly threw us a curve-ball! Individually, everyone has their own story to reflect on, be it good or bad. A mantra that echoed in my house, was ‘control the controllables.’ This was a daily reminder of what to focus on and helped us maintain a healthy perspective on what was happening around us. As a school community, we continue to navigate the unchartered waters together, to grow, learn, and adapt. Experiences shape us, for better or worse and my hope for the future is that we can all come out of this experience with a greater sense of our own strength, a new perspective and appreciation of what really matters and some new and innovative ideas that improve the way in which we operate. Lastly, I would like to acknowledge our graduating students who are moving on to pastures new in 2021. This was a grade six year like no other. A reminder that life is full of obstacles and although we sometimes can’t change what is happening around us, we can change how we respond to it. We are immensely proud of your efforts and resilience. You will be missed at Berwick Lodge. Stay hopeful.

MAKING LOTS OF MEMORIES What a crazy year This two thousand and twenty, We’ve gone through so many things, A year full of plenty, The start of Prep Was daunting but fun Their independence grew From needing their mum Online learning Was a surprise for all So we met via Webex Dressed up and had a ball Term 4 was amazing We were all back together Making lots of memories That would hopefully last forever We’ve learned English and Maths Had Science and Inquiry too We’ve learned all about farms And some things that were new Now it’s finally the end, And they’re off to Grade One, We’ll miss 2020 and Prep C, A year of memories and fun! To my beautiful Busy Bees, I was just so proud to be with you this year in what has been the craziest of teaching years so far! It has been such a daunting experience, filled with unknowns and the hope that things would go back to normal as soon as possible. However, I couldn’t have asked for a better grade to go through this with. Your bubbly, fun and beautiful nature gave me a highlight each day when I saw you online. A reason to keep smiling. We made the most of it, had fun dressing up and even making funny videos too. Coming back in Term 4 was so wonderful. To see your bright, smiling faces again was amazing! You should be so proud of your Prep year and start of school you’ve had - you have shown so much resilience, maturity and confidence! Congratulations Prep C! Love you lots and you’re going to be absolutely amazing next year!

PREP O'S REPORT

PROBLEM SOLVERS The year 2020 has been a little different than usual in many ways, but the one consistent thing has been the guiding force in Prep O is the student’s teamwork and love for learning. Prep O has shown that they can be strong, resilient and that they can be problem solvers. In Semester one, they learnt about families and the people in the community that keep us safe. They loved learning the alphabet book letters and sounds and quickly learnt our school routine with the VIP’s being the most favourite part of the day! Semester two began quite differently with the onset of remote learning, but the weekly Webex calls connected the students and seeing each others friendly faces was a highlight☺. It was fantastic being back together again in term four and the students settled back into our class routine so well. We finished off the year learning about farms and celebrating back at school our 100 Days with amazing projects and sharing a healthy recipe with the class. No matter what has been thrown at us this year, Prep O students have taken it in their stride and kept the smiles on their faces. What a wonderful bunch of kids! The year 2020 will definitely be one to remember!

PREP T'S REPORT

AN INCREDIBLE BUNCH Prep T, the superstars, have taken on their first year of school like true champions! They have loved getting to know each other, playing with their friends at recess and lunch, reading, ICT, writing and doing maths activities. Everyone has loved doing show and tell, PMP and learning so many interesting facts in our inquiry units. We had a fantastic week celebrating 100 days of Prep (at home), where we made things out of recycled objects, had a bake off, movie night and completed out 100 projects. During term 4, Prep T went above and beyond with their Book Week Dress up costumes. They also enjoyed showcasing their healthy recipes to the class and creating a recipe book. They have learnt what it is to be a good friend, how to be kind, what persistence is, how to be confident and how to get along with everyone. I am so proud of this incredible bunch!

IMPROVISATION One word to sum it all up – IMPROVISATION Improvisation is the activity of making or doing something not planned beforehand, using whatever can be found. Principals, Teachers, Support staff, Parents, kids… we all improvise. From lesson delivery to transitioning between remote and on-site, it just keeps changing constantly. Amazingly, we did it while surrounded with constant positive encouragement, love and understanding within families, friends and any other support groups. On a personal note, we are just so proud of what our students and their families for their hard work and support. 2AR you are the best! It’s definitely a year we will all remember but not one to repeat.

Ella-I really liked that my teacher already knew me because she taught my sister Caitlyn. Krishna- I loved growing and cutting my Hairy Harry. It was my first time cutting hair. Ashley- One thing l have enjoyed is doing sport every Tuesday. I love it. Lacey- The best thing about this year has been decorating my Hairy Harry. Saxon- This year I have enjoyed doing ICT because I’m good at technology and it’s fun. Byron- A highlight for me has been dressing up as Black Panther for Book Week. Trey- It’s been great making new friends and playing with old friends. Jack- I have loved playing and running around with Kai during play time. Sanvi- I have made lots of wonderful new friends this year at Berwick Lodge Primary School. Elle-The best thing about this year has been working on my rocket project. Helena- The thing l have enjoyed the most this year is learning about transport and doing my project on hot air balloons. Hayden- It has been fun playing with my friends at school. We have a great time playing football. Chalinya- l enjoyed learning about planes and sharing my project with my grade. Andrea- It was fun doing the Inquiry topic ‘Our Backyard’ because we learnt about minibeasts like the praying mantis. Britvir- One of my highlights was doing a project about planes. Isabelle- I had lots of fun making a water paint spider at art. Christopher- The thing l have really enjoyed is playing different games with my friends outside. Ruby- At sport we learnt how to play the game ‘Handball’. It’s really fun. Jonoel- I enjoyed doing my project about cruise ships and had so much fun making a model of a cruise ship with my dad. Kai- At recess Jack and l enjoy playing different games together. Chloe- I loved dressing up as Audrey from the Descendants for Book Week.

WILDEST DREAMS Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be teaching during a worldwide pandemic! Let’s face it, no one did! The one thing I have learnt about this year is that being resilient, persistent and kind will get you through anything. Having a supportive family, supportive friends and wonderful work colleagues really made my time remote teaching a lot easier and for that, I will be forever grateful. Bring on 2021! My highlight was coming back to school after remote learning to see my friends. - Zahra Grade 3 was fun because there was a lot to learn and it was different. - Liam I liked Grade 3 because I got to meet new friends. - Brody I enjoyed camp week even though we didn’t get to go. It was fun because I made a bed fort at home. - James I enjoyed coming back to school after remote learning to see my friends again. - Logan I am proud of myself for learning my times tables during remote learning and I also worked hard. - SophieI liked coming back to school after remote learning and seeing all of my friends. - Ella I liked the camp week activities we did in remote learning and making a tent. I also learnt my times tables. Abi My first year here at BLPS has been great! I have made lots of new friends and I can play on the cool playground with them. - Joash I really liked coming back to school after remote learning to see my friends and do more school work. - Luka In Grade 3 I made new friends and tried new things. - Lauren I liked coming back to school after remote learning to see my friends. - Will I enjoyed the camp week activities we did in remote learning. I liked making my own camp map. - Emily H I have enjoyed my first year at BLPS and I made a lot of new friends. - Emily Hu I was happy to come back to school after remote learning so I could play with my friends in the playground. - Isabelle I liked Gr 3 / 4 sport, playing games and the playground. - Tyler I enjoyed making new friends and the work we did in class. - Molly I enjoyed going out to Gr 3 /4 sport, ICT, PE and working hard in class. - Ryan I really enjoyed the camp week activities we did during remote learning especially the obstacle course. Dane I enjoyed PE and Gr 3 /4 sport on a Thursday morning. - Hadi I have enjoyed all of the school work in Grade 3 and working hard. I was very happy to be elected JSC representative for our grade. - Madi I really enjoyed Gr 3 / 4 sport on a Thursday and our assemblies even via Webex! I also liked doing Maths. Charlie I really enjoyed PE and Gr 3 /4 sport on a Thursday morning! - Ezekiel I have enjoyed learning about different things and being challenged. I was very excited when I was elected to be our grade’s JSC representative. - Darcy I really enjoyed PE and Performing Arts in Grade 3. - Michelle I enjoyed learning with my friends in Grade 3. - Har-Lee I enjoyed the camp week activities we did in remote learning but I loved coming back to school to see my friends. - Deacon

THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY YEAR IN GRADE 3: Zoe - Making new friends at my new school. Emily M - I made many new friends this year. Oliver O - I got to spend time with my family playing roblox during the lockdown. Quinn - I enjoyed playing with my friends at recess and lunch time. Logan - I liked online learning because I could play video games after I finished my work. Chloe - Learning with my teacher. Ruby - Forming new friendships this year. Oliver W - Having fun with all my friends. Louis - Remote learning was super easy for me and I face timed my friends. Tom - Itâ€™s great to have the regional borders opened up. Emily C - I enjoyed making new friends and chatting to my teacher. Marley - I like making up games with my friends. Hayden - During remote learning I could finish my work quickly and go on my ipad. Genny - I made long lasting friendships at Berwick Lodge PS this year. Laila - I made new friends this year. Senadi - I liked making new friends this year. Catherine - I liked remote learning because I spent more time with my family. Sophia - I liked participating in online camp activities at my nanna and grandad's house. Hamza - I liked making new friends this year. Vishi - I made new friends this year with children that have not been in my grade before. LEARNING FOR LIFE

Our school motto is “Learning for Life” and life is full of opportunities. 2020 has certainly been a year where both these statements have proven to be very true. As the teacher of Grade 3N this year I have had the opportunity to teach a wonderful class of enthusiastic, energizing and compassionate students. After 35 years of teaching I am still learning for life! Remote teaching was certainly a new way to be teaching this year. Embracing new challenges in a positive way and celebrating even the smallest of successes will always be my way of “Learning for Life.” Remember to be proud of your successes and enjoy the little opportunities as well as the big opportunities in life. I really enjoyed the show we saw at the start of the year about colours. We are all unique and that is what the show was about. (Bronson) I really have enjoyed studying dinosaurs in our Science unit in Term 4 ( Lachlan) I have loved being in Mrs Naismith’s grade. ( Dean) I have loved making new friends in our grade this year. ( Lara) Working with my friend has been great this year. (Grace) I have loved being with Mrs Naimsith and learning lots of different things. Did you know an octopus has 9 brains and three hearts! ( Jennifer) I really loved robotics with Mr Kelly. (Sam) I loved working on my dinosaur project. Did you know the word Pterodactyl means winged finger.(Josh) I am so proud that I have learnt my times tables. I love speedy maths! ( Indee) I have made great new friends this year and I have loved being back at school. NO MORE REMOTE LEARNING FOR ME! (Sadhana) I have loved learning about Australia’s neighbours. I would love to travel to Indonesia one day! (Evan) I have loved making new friends, and learning about short division. (Cordell) I really liked doing the group activities because we worked with lots of people. (Amanda) I loved being in Grade 3 with Mrs naismith and making the dioramas at school, especially making our own version of the zoo! (Aashi) I really loved our remote learning camp time. I made some yummy damper and had fun camping at home. I also loved being with my friends at school. ( Abigail) I have loved being in Mrs Naismith’s class. I loved doing my passion project about drama at the start of the year too. ( Emily) I have loved being in Mrs Naismith’s grade and doing lots of projects. ( Cailin) I have loved learning lots of new things in Grade 3. My favourite subject is maths. ( Lilly) I have loved being our grade’s JSC representative this year. ( Zac) I have loved playing the fun maths games this year. (Matthew) I really loved remote learning. But I love being with my teacher and friends at school too. TOUGH YEAR What a tough year it has been! Teaching through a screen proved to be very difficult, but seeing my students’ smiling, happy faces everyday in our meetings made it much easier. The fantastic work they were completing, along with their outstanding creativity made me so proud! Being back together again in the classroom for term 4 was an amazing feeling, one in which we all appreciate so much more now. Eleanor- My highlight of 2020 was playing basketball with my friends at school. Mason- I enjoyed being back at school and being with my friends. Daniel- I liked being back at school with my friends, chatting in the Anzac garden. Lennox- I enjoyed playing on the ¾ playground with my friends. Phoebe- The highlight of my year was learning new things in grade three. James- I have loved being back at school and seeing my friends again. Riley C- My favourite part of grade three has been sport and ICT. Zara- My favourite part of grade three was getting to play on a new playground. Quin- I liked being back at school and playing basketball with all of my friends. Alicia- I loved getting to see my friends again and spending time with them after being at home for a long time. Lailah- I have loved seeing my friends again and I really like the BER building. Mia- My favourite part of this year has been making new friends. Amelia- I loved doing camp from home, but I wish we had been able to go to real camp. Craig- I have enjoyed being back at school and seeing my teacher and my friends. Emily- I enjoyed being back at school with all of my friends. Quade- The highlight of my year has been making new friends. Mitchell- I have enjoyed shooting some hoops with my good friends. Shylah- I loved our grade three virtual camp week because all of the activities were really fun. Gabby- It was a tough year but I managed to get through it. I was so excited to finally be able to go back to school and see my friends again. Haylie- I have enjoyed being back at school and being able to hug my friends. Anastasija- I have enjoyed being in the BER building as there is so much space. The library is also just nearby and we even got our own slider drawers. Jackson- My highlight of 2020 has been playing basketball with my friends again. Nadia- I have enjoyed waking up whenever I wanted during remote learning to do my school work. Riley P- I have enjoyed being in the BER this year as we get to use slider drawers. Damian- I have enjoyed playing on the new ¾ playground this year. ‘I DIDN’T KNOW I’D MISS’ 2020 LOCKDOWN POETRY This surreal year will be one that we shall never forget. I had the pleasure in learning and teaching with such a talented, optimistic class remotely and onsite. Parents, students and teachers should feel proud of their concerted efforts. Returning to the classroom highlighted how much we value each other and our school! Students from 4B wanted to share with you their feelings about yearning for normality through poetic verse. Enjoy! This year, I have learnt that it is important to hug those you love, say what you mean and make it count, take time to play on playgrounds, cherish the taste of good food, appreciate your belongings and what you have, dance when thereâ€™s music, laugh when thereâ€™s jokes, enjoy the simplicity of a walk, breathe - in - fresh - clean - air and be present in each and every moment because... time is precious. Each day is preciousâ€Ś This year has been so challenging, but we have come through on the other side, stronger, wiser and more grateful. Iâ€™m proud of everyone in Grade 4T. Iâ€™m proud of everyone in our BLPS community. This is a year, I will never forgetâ€ŚI will remember all these gorgeous faces, their smiles and the fun times we have sharedâ€ŚWhat a year 4T!!! Letâ€™s remember the moments!!! Luke - 2020 has been an interesting year. I have had lots of fun (excluding the lockdown) from earning money to the rise and fall of the yeah Maadhav empire. This year has been an adventure of a lifetime probably better than all the adventures I'll ever have, this has been the best I will never forget 4T. Madison - I have learnt that we need to cherish our years in Primary School because we donâ€™t have a long time until we go into High School and some people are moving but we need to cherish our time together in grade 4 because you only get this chance once. I will really miss 4T :) Tyler - I had Confidence of my reading and I will miss 4T Will - I learnt how to drive a boat. Iâ€™ve learnt how to read better and write. Itâ€™s been a good year for me learning at home. Georgina - This year has been a very different year to them all. There have been some very tough challenges and even some amazing times. Martin - I have learnt that not every year is the same and that you should spend as much time as you can with your friends.I know we have not seen our teachers and friends as much as we should've. I know that we made the most out of lock down and remote learning. I will always remember this year as a special year. I'll miss my teachers and my friends that are leaving the school.I will miss them and I will miss 4T. Partick - I am a bit upset about this year but nonetheless, a great one. I have learnt so much and improved In almost everything and I feel great and this class will stay in my heart forever. I will miss 4T. Charlie - I learnt that we should respect everyone and appreciate the time we had in school. Madhav - This year has been like no other but in my opinion I think the world needed this ( well not this whole thing!) But people used to take things for granted and Covid has taught everyone a lesson. I will always remember this year because it was special, I will remember my times with my friends and teacher and all the experiences I've had in the grade and no matter what happens I will remember you guys! Rose - I learned that I should not take school for granted and itâ€™s important we are lucky to go to school and have amazing friends.I think this year has been awful but a good thing about Covid is that now we aprustate a lot more things than before Covid.I have learned to respect people thanks to Miss Tan.And I have learned how to get along with new people.Thanks to my friends.I will miss 4T :(. Bridie - That each day is a new day to live and breathe and have fun, to be able to make good choices, to help my family and friends. To be able to learn from home. I learnt a lot about the war and how to make good with instructions. I learnt that asking for help is ok. I've learnt a lot about my class and their lives outside of school. Miss Tan has taught me the best, she has shown me that she knows and cares for me and that's all I need from a teacher. I also learnt that I am going to be ok and I am happy. 2020 REFLECTIONS 2020 wasn’t just the year that reminded us to wash our hands and prevented us from doing the things we loved. It was the year that taught us to appreciate the moments in life that we may have taken for granted. It showed us the importance of spending time with family and friends. It highlighted how lucky we are to be a part of the Berwick Lodge community and to attend a supportive and caring school. It reminded us how great it is to attend our sports club, to go on a holiday, to visit local parks, cinemas, the zoo or even just the local shops. I’m not saying this year was easy, this year came with a number of challenges. But when I reflect on my year, I can honestly say it was my students in 4W that brightened each day. They never seized to amaze me with their positive attitude, resilience and persistence. They approached every day with a readiness to learn and have fun. I am so proud of each student in my grade and how far they have grown personally in this challenging year. So remember, when things go wrong, take a moment to be thankful! This year taught me to appreciate the small things in life, like spending time outdoors and seeing family and friends. – Tristan 2020 was crazy and it flew by very fast. Steph- This year was very different, it wasnâ€™t the year I was expecting. It was fun, and confusing. I canâ€™t wait to see what 2021 brings. Tess Hammond - Coronavirus, has changed year 6 completely. Thank you for the opportunity to be with my parents, I missed my friends lot. I missed sport :( Amelia- Even though this year was much different it was an amazing experience, I never thought I would care about such little things. Cooper- This year Iâ€™ve learnt to enjoy the little things in life like hanging out with friends and toilet paper. Ishan - This year was trash, we had to do online learning, and not face to face learning, we didnâ€™t get to meet our friends because of bad Coronavirus (Covid-19) Travis - This year was baddddddd because I did not like learning online, but I was happy when we came back!!! Tyler - THIS YEAR WAS BAD. Diesel - This year was different. Jaxson - 2020 was bad, but hopefully Year 7 is better! Good luck to the new Grade 6's. Holly - This year was terrible, but we got through it! Ana - This year was terrible, I hope next year (Grade 6) is better. 5/6 K REFLECT ON 2020 Veda- I enjoyed 2020 because of remote learning I was able to sleep in and have a flexible sleep schedule but still got all my work done. Kyra- I loved coming back to school and seeing my friends and teachers. Jacob- I loved coming back to school after remote learning and seeing all my friends. Abisayan- I enjoyed coming back to school after remote learning and playing with all my friends at recess and lunchtime. Jeda- I am thankful I got to spend more time with my family at home. I got to learn lots of new computer skills from remote learning. Isabel- I loved coming back to school and learning face to face and not on the computer. Heath- I was happy to come back to school and see all my peers. Anisa- I really enjoyed remote learning in 2020. Amelia- I loved learning about the Fennec Fox this year. 5/6 W'S TAKE ON 2020 What a year it has been! Even though everything looked a bit different at Berwick Lodge we still achieved so many great things. Learning new tech skills to socialising with our friends online, we definitely developed a whole new set of tools to take into 2021. We invented our own unique camp, with its own logo and creative setups. Amazing obstacle courses were built, delicious delights were baked and artistic crafts made along with entertaining videos of all our talents. We couldn’t ask for a better virtual camp experience! Although we missed our friends and school, we had amazing days sharing our pets, dressing up, participating in collection competitions, creating structures and playing games. We shared emotions, laughs and frustrations but we learnt to appreciate the little things: our friends, laughter and being able to see each other. I found it very hard during remote learning not seeing my friends but I loved the camp week program. - Jack The people in our class were so welcoming and I felt right at home! - Edie This was a good year. I loved online learning! - Brooke This year by far is the most average year ever, no cap! - Ethan The year 2020 was different from other years but it will be part of our history. - Brianna Although it was a bit rough, this year was great with friends and family .- Jeb Remote learning was interesting but we all got through it and to be honest, it wasn’t that bad! After a crazy year of remote learning, the best bit was seeing my friends, teachers, and Friday WebEx trivia! - Felix This covid year will be a year I tell to my children and grandchildren. - Faith This covid year has been very very very hard to just go regular school and then randomly turn into remote learning but I like to see my friends again! - Mia Spending time with my family was the really good side of quarantine. Plus this year is special in its way, this is the first time the whole world did remote learning for 8-9 months, it was also a different way of learning and communicating with my friends and teachers.2020 has its great things that no other year had! - Areeba I am grateful to have a family and friends to support me in this tough year. - Annabella This year was the best, I did like coming back from remote learning. It was sad not seeing your friends when you did remote learning. - Lilli I enjoyed being able to spend more time with my family during Remote Learning but coming back to school was so much fun. - Mikayla In the end, we realised we could adapt to two environments, especially when having your friends, teachers and family to support you along the way. - Dihara This year was hard but in the end, we all got through it together as a team I didn’t think I would be able to do it but in the end, I did it and now I’m sad to see it go.- Delilah This year was a year that will be in history class, I will never forget this year! - Harlem An experience in my life that I will always remember and cherish. - Mehran Being home with my family was good because I spent more time with them. When we got back to face to face learning in the classroom it was really good to see my friends, teachers and other classmates. WThis year was unpredictable and difficult. It started with bushFires to Covid-19. Everyone will remember this year 2020 - Brodie 2020 might have been a little tedious, but on the bright side itâ€™s all over and all of us will go down in history as the best teachers and students ever! Go us! - Charlotte 2020 has been fun and sad but my fav thinking was seeing my friends !- Jacklyn 2020 has been fun. I liked remote learning. It was fun being on Webex because I stayed home with my three dogs and then I came back to school and saw my friends. - Tyler 2020 has been fun. I mostly like seeing my friends the most. - Michael 2020 was amazing. I have made a lot of friends and I have done a lot of fun activities even though this year had some ups and downs. It was amazing. This is a year I will never forget. - Lorenzo 2020 has been a new adventure for everyone, probably the most memorable year in 100 years. - Jemma 2020 has been a very interesting year, especially the fact that no one has been able to go on holidays and mainly see any family while being in iso and the amount of shopping online. But I gotta say it is gonna be fun when we go on our christmas holidays and we can all go OUTSIDE!!! - Olivia 2020 was difficult but a bit fun. I chatted with friends and family time faded away quite quick, BUT I hope it never happens again. - Ali It has been a little tough but when we got a chance to go to school, it was less stressful. Iâ€™m also thankful for seeing my friends again while the restrictions are on and getting better. - Sean

SO MUCH FOR THAT 5/6 P Cast your minds back……..It’s January 2020 and a bunch of fresh-faced and enthusiastic young things file through the doors of the classroom. Immaculate books, folders and pencil cases are handed out, name tags are coloured in, everyone is anticipating the wonderful year spent in our classroom, learning and growing together…… SO MUCH FOR THAT!!! If 2020 would stop laughing at our plans long enough, it might be able to explain why we weren’t warned of all the things it had planned for us. There were times when it felt like 2020 was going to get the better of us, but not so fast! Lodgers are made of sterner stuff than that. Resilience was the key as we picked ourselves up, dusted ourselves off and dove headfirst into remote learning. We continued to learn, laugh and grow together, though now it was through Webex meetings and Google Classroom. We even managed to go on camp (in our own very special way). They say that necessity is the mother of invention, and our Grade 5/6 family were certainly inventive! So, even though this year has been difficult at times, and strange all the time, we will be able to look back on it as the unique challenge that it was – a challenge that made us develop all of the skills required to be successful learners, under any conditions. Breathe a sigh of relief everybody, the challenge has been overcome and we are all better for it!
