LODDON butchers Jye and Kristy Arnold have taken no shortcuts on their way to snagging major prizes in the Australian Meat Industry Council’s regional finals. The Boort butchers faced double the competition to win four golds after the
north-west and north-east regions were amalgamated for this year’s competitions. They have figured in the AMIC awards every year since taking on the business five years ago. Results announced last week gave Jye and Kristy first for shortcut bacon, Eng-

lish pork sausages, Italian pork sausage and cheese Kransky. And they were close to winning in two other sections with second for their mettwurst with jalepeno and smoked cheddar sausage and a third for their Malaysian chicken satay sausage. Jye said it was an extra special achieve-
ment in 2022 in the competition region that stretched across most of Victoria’s top half. “We were up against more than 100 butchers from such a wide area of country Victoria,” he said. “To pick up four golds in the one competition is pretty amazing.”
