RESILIENCE RETURN

ONE of the Loddon’s biggest events of the year will return for a second time in 2023.

Organisers of Bridgewater’s Run for Resilience announced on Tuesday the rural community and resilience-building initiative would be back on Mother’s Day. Active Farmers finally staged the inaugural event this year, after multiple forced postponements by COVID lockdowns and restrictions, when more than

Grassroots enthusiasm locks in second run

300 runners and walkers traversed courses between Inglewood and Bridgewater. Event manager Claire Harrison said this year’s Run for Resilience had been an uplifting day that received enthusiastic support from local communities. “That made our decision to run

the event again next year easy,” she said. “We (Active Farmers) take a grassroots approach to rural and mental health. “And we aim to be always here to provide support and services in local communities that make a positive impact to improve

health right across the board. We know it’s working and we need to keep pushing ahead.” Claire said feedback and support for the 2022 run had shaped the decision for a return next year. She said the date was also near the anniversary of the passing of Active Farmers volunteer Lesley Morrison who was honoured with the Fitty’s 5 short-course for participants. “It’s also a good time of year for farmers to take some time

out, even if only for an hour, to be part of Run for Resilience,” Claire said. “We want to build on that connection and enthusiasm through Run for Resilience. “We’re really excited that the team will be together to run the event again and keeping the health of local people and communities as a priority.” The Bridgewater event is the only Victorian Run for Resilience with other runs being held in New South Wales.
