READY FOR CENTURY

Leonie’s love for country, cricket and horses LEONIE Pollock has been a women’s cricket trailblazer but always most at home in the country where farming and horses have been a big part of her life. The Inglewood and Districts Health Service resident was a member of the Women’s Land Army during World War Two and next Thursday turns 100. She will likely receive a letter of congratulations from the Queen who Leonie says is a wonderful woman and was applauded by the farmer’s wife from Derby on the back of a truck in Bendigo when the Queen became the first ruling monarch to visit Australia in 1954. LeonIe is a favourite with staff at IDHS where she has lived since 2020. READ LEONIE’S STORY OF A CENTURY - PAGE 11 LH PHOTO
