AN EXCEPTIONAL FAMILY OF DISTINCTIVE SPIRITS AND CHAMPAGNES, PRODUCED IN ICONIC LOCATIONS.
WE ARE AN INDEPENDENT DISTILLER, BLENDER, AND PRODUCER OF SOME OF THE FINEST AND RAREST SCOTCH WHISKIES IN THE WORLD, AS WELL AS A GROWING PORTFOLIO OF OTHER PREMIUM AND SUPER PREMIUM SPIRITS AND CHAMPAGNE. OUR HERITAGE IS AMONGST THE OLDEST IN OUR INDUSTRY.
The Loch Lomond Distillery Company has a history that goes back to at least 1772, with the founding of the Littlemill Distillery.
In 1814, the original site of the Loch Lomond Distillery was established near Tarbet towards the northwest end of Loch Lomond. In 1832, the Glen Scotia Distillery was founded in Campbeltown and is one of only three distilleries remaining in Campbeltown from that era.
Our portfolio includes award-winning Loch Lomond single malts and blends, recently recognised as Distillery of the Year at the 2024 IWSC Awards. Our Glen Scotia whiskies were also recognised at the 2021 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, with Glen Scotia 25-yearold awarded ‘Best in Show’, the overall winner of the competition, and therefore, the best whisky in the world. Our super-premium Littlemill Single Malt whisky is developing a growing international reputation and is recognised in the top tier of ultra-premium whiskies. Our portfolio has grown with the introduction of Spearhead Single Grain Whisky, Ben Lomond Gin, and Champagne Piaff.
As our international presence continues to grow, we are delighted to be involved in several high-profile partnerships, including with the R&A for The Open Golf Championship, the Scottish Professional Football League and the Super League Rugby. Our production spans sites across Scotland, operating with Loch Lomond malt and grain distilleries at Alexandria in Dunbartonshire, Glen Scotia Distillery in Campbeltown, Argyll, and our own bottling plant in Catrine, Ayrshire. We have demonstrated a history of continual innovation and development of production capabilities to enable a degree of self-sufficiency unmatched in the industry.

LITTLEMILL AND LOCH LOMOND: FROM ILLICIT STILLS IN BOTHIES AND BARNS TO THE GREAT BONDED WAREHOUSES OF THE INDUSTRIAL AGE, THIS PART OF SCOTLAND HAS PLAYED A KEY ROLE IN THE STORY OF WHISKY.
Loch Lomond marks the boundary between the Lowlands and the Highlands of Scotland. This area - so close to the major bottling town of Dumbarton - has been at the heart of the whisky industry for centuries. Sadly though, at least nine distilleries around the loch have been lost over the years, leaving Loch Lomond Distillers to maintain a proud local tradition into the 21st century.
Our own story began in 1772, with the founding of the Littlemill Distillery on the site of an old brewery at Dunglass Castle in Bowling. It is possibly the oldest distillery in Scotland, with distilling at this site dating back to the 14th century. It is a few miles from the loch itself, with its water source being the Auchentorlie Burn.
The distillery changed hands several times before being acquired by an American gentleman named Duncan Thomas. He lived in the former exciseman’s house at Littlemill for a while and went on to build the new Loch Lomond Distillery in Alexandria which is now our home.
THE INSPIRATION FOR THE LOCH LOMOND DISTILLERY COMES FROM THE PHYSICAL BEAUTY OF THE HIGHLAND REGION IN WHICH IT IS SITED. THE MAGNIFICENT BEN LOMOND MOUNTAIN TOWERS ABOVE THE LOCH AND LOOKS DOWN ON THE DISTILLERY.
Its history is steeped in the 7 Celtic Clans that touched Loch Lomond, including the clans of Colquhoun, McFarlane, Galbraith, MacAulay, Menzies, and Buchanan.
Loch Lomond Distillery opened in 1964, with production beginning the following year. In 1984, the distillery closed - or fell silent, to use the traditional term. Happily, though, Alexander Bulloch and the Glen Catrine company acquired the business and resumed malt production in 1987. Grain whisky production began in 1994, with two new malt stills added in 1999 and a further two in 2015.
At the time the grain distillery opened in 1994, it was the only distillery in Scotland producing both grain and malt whisky. It also operates a unique set-up of four sets of stills producing many different malt styles as well as our Single Grain, made exclusively with malted barley. Our distillery has produced many different brands and bottlings over the years, each with their own character and charm.
LOCH LOMOND ORIGINAL
Loch Lomond Original Single Malt Whisky is distilled from Scotland’s finest ingredients, delivering a burst of sweet honey and citrus notes with a gentle hint of smoke on the finish. All of which results in an easy-drinking whisky with the unmistakable Loch Lomond signature style of fruit, honey and soft smoke.
LOCH LOMOND STEAM & FIRE
Loch Lomond Steam & Fire brings to life our diverse distilling process and our bespoke, hand-charred casks from our own time-honoured cooperage, resulting in this truly unique and imaginative whisky.
This expression is a celebration of the incredible alchemy and engineering capability of our distillery and a product of our exploration, experimentation and know-how as master makers, distillers and coopers.

LOCH LOMOND 16 YEAR OLD WAYPOINT SERIES
Guided by our boundless imagination, we reveal a whisky capturing both flavour and place. Master Distiller Michael Henry has created a whisky with a character inspired by this place. Bringing together spirit distilled exclusively in our Swan Neck Stills and a Cognac cask finish, to create a whisky that is worthy of exploration and a fitting tribute to the natural beauty of the Falls of Falloch. This Whisky was matured in three kinds of ex-Bourbon American Oak casks before finishing its flavour journey for 12 months in ex-Cognac barrels, this whisky captures exploration and depth in every drop.
LOCH LOMOND 18 YEAR OLD
Loch Lomond 18 Year Old Single Malt is a perfect representation of Loch Lomond’s signature style; it has mouth-watering notes of baked apple and rich toffee with gentle wood smoke on the finish. Aged in 100% American Oak – bourbon, refill and re-charred, Loch Lomond 18 Year Old is bottled at 46% and non-chill filtered to keep things as nature intended.
This expression is brought together by Michael Henry, our master blender, whose signature on each bottle is our personal assurance of quality.
LOCH LOMOND 25 YEAR OLD
The Loch Lomond 25 year old proudly exhibits our craft and knowledge in both distillation and maturation. This exceptional whisky undergoes a meticulous aging process in first-fill, refill, and re-charred American Oak casks for a quarter of a century, meticulously overseen by our team of expert coopers.
Michael Henry, our master distiller, personally handpicks casks for blending, ensuring that we present the epitome of our signature orchard fruit, honey, and delicate soft smoke flavours unique to Loch Lomond Whisky.
LOCH LOMOND 47 YEAR OLD
This 47 year old whisky is the 3rd and final release in our Remarkable Stills series. The series takes inspiration from our unique Straight Neck pot stills, which were installed at the distillery in 1965 and give us the ability to control the style of spirit produced.
Distilled in 1974, this liquid started its journey in refill American Oak casks. After 43 years the liquid was transferred into 2nd fill Oloroso Sherry casks to add additional dried, tropical fruit complexity to complement the distillery’s orchard fruit characteristics created by our Remarkable Stills.
A total of 200 bottles were produced for the final release in the Remarkable Stills series. 100% of the spirit for the 3rd and final release is unpeated spirit from our unique Straight Neck pot stills. These innovative stills give us superior control at the distillation stage, allowing the spirit to be taken off at a higher collection strength.
LOCH LOMOND 50 YEAR OLD
Distilled in 1973 in our distinctive Straight Neck stills, this incredible spirit has gone through an unparalleled journey for you to savour. It all started with a gentle maturation in refilled American Oak casks, providing the liquid with enough time to develop a rich character. Additional maturation in first fill Bourbon casks in 2011, followed by a re-cask in Oloroso Sherry hogsheads in 2017, further enhanced the complexity of this elegant single malt.
LOCH LOMOND SINGLE GRAIN UNPEATED
LOCH LOMOND SINGLE GRAIN PEATED
Our single grain whisky is distilled in our Coffey still and made exclusively from malted barley before being carefully matured in the finest oak casks under the watchful eye of Michael Henry, our Master Distiller, combining to create the perfect harmony of flavour and aroma. The result is an elegant and fullbodied range of single grain whisky with exceptional smoothness which make these whiskies very approachable and easy to drink.
The result is a light spirit with notes of white flesh fruits and crisp citrus, a tropical character often associated with older fruit-forward whiskies.
Limited to just 100 individually numbered bottles from our oldest reserves, our 50-year-old is carefully crafted by half a century breathing in the climate of our stunning natural surroundings.
This outstanding Single Grain Scotch Whisky is made exclusively from heavily peated malted barley in the malt room at the Loch Lomond Distillery. It is then matured in a combination of first and refill bourbon casks from our own on-site cooperage.
LOCH LOMOND SIGNATURE: DELUXE BLENDED SCOTCH WHISKY
Loch Lomond Signature is a deluxe blended whisky containing the best Scotland has to offer - our malt and grain whiskies and the purest water distilled at Loch Lomond and matured in finest first fill oak casks.
After a long and slow maturation, the whisky is then married and conditioned in our 100-barrel Cask Solera.
The Solera system combines Oloroso sherry casks and American Oak casks that have been recharred to create an intensity and smoothness unique to Loch Lomond. This process ensures that a depth of flavour and character has been extracted from the wood and passed onto the whisky through the layers of the Solera.
LOCH LOMOND RESERVE: PREMIUM BLENDED SCOTCH WHISKY
This unique premium blended Scotch whisky contains both malt and grain distilled and matured on the banks of Loch Lomond. Every barrel is selected for its character and maturity before being married in recharred oak.
This exceptionally well-balanced whisky delivers a perfectly smooth finish. Our blended Scotch only uses whiskies distilled in-house.
Loch Lomond has been creating award-winning single malt whiskies since 1814, with a style inspired by our stunning surroundings. Alongside our core releases, we make available a limited number of single and exclusive casks to allow our whisky drinkers to try something different. Each carefully selected cask is distilled with care and quality at its heart and, when bottled, has customisable labels and designs to help create something truly unique.
There was a time when whisky virtually coursed through the streets of the town. With a distillery on every corner, nigh on every inhabitant involved in its creation, and boats queuing in the port to carry off casks, it was known as the whisky capital of the world. Down through the years, all that knowledge, experience, craft, and whisky passion has been distilled into Glen Scotia, an exquisite example of the classic maritime Campbeltown style. So, when you pour a dram of Glen Scotia, it’s more than whisky in the glass.
James Stewart {1809 – 1895}
By William Bright Morris
James Stewart was a founding partner of The Scotia Distillery, Campbeltown. He also served as chairman of the Distillers’ Association for 25 years and it was in recognition of this, that his portrait was commissioned in 1874.
Campbeltown was, reportedly, the ancient seat of the Scottish Parliament set up here by King Fergus in 503AD. Indeed the first site of the Scotia Distillery in Parliament Street is said to be on the site from where the Stone of Destiny originated, the stone on which all Scottish Monarchs were crowned.
Towards the southern end of the Mull of Kintyre, Campbeltown is an isolated, distinctive place. The whisky produced here is special too - so much so that it’s classified as a separate region, quite apart from the Highland, Speyside, Lowland and Islay whiskies which are perhaps better known today.
Distilling was probably going on in Kintyre for centuries, but the written legal history begins in 1609 with the granting of a licence to produce ‘aqua vitae’ to a John Boyel of Kelburn. With an excellent water supply, easy access to peat and grain, and a growing market in Victorian Britain and beyond, little Campbeltown had 28 distilleries by 1851, and proudly proclaimed itself ‘the whisky capital of the world’. Today only three distilleries remain, of which ours, Glen Scotia, is one of the smallest in Scotland.
GLEN SCOTIA has been internationally recognised winning both “Best Whisky in the World” for our 25 year old and Scotch Whisky Distillery of the Year in 2021. The first time any distillery has ever achieved this unique double.
Founded in 1832 as Scotia, our distillery survived a decline in the industry in the early part of the 20th century, although it was silent between 1928 and 1933 when it was acquired by Block Brothers.
The ‘Glen’ was added to the name in 1939, and the distillery was bought by the Canadian spirits giant, Hiram Walker, in 1954. Glen Scotia changed hands again several times before it was bought by Loch Lomond Distillery Company in 1996.
The Mull of Kintyre peninsula is known, of course, for ‘mist rolling in from the sea’, and Campbeltown whiskies are characterised by a distinctive, salty tang.
Glen Scotia had been producing Single Malt in the time-honoured manner and is a fine example of this historic style. Your first dram is likely to be a singular pleasure and remain long in the memory.
Since its purchase by the Loch Lomond Group, Glen Scotia Distillery has had investment to increase production, warehousing, and also the creation of a stunning new shop and tasting room.
The result of this investment means the distillery’s dunnage warehouse can now be used to mature more of our precious liquid on-site to ensure the Campbeltown climate has as much influence on the maturing malt as possible.
As one of only three distilleries in the Campbeltown region, it’s important to offer a unique welcome to visitors to the area.
Our visitors’ shop is styled to look like an old Victorian shop and harks back to when Campbeltown was the “Victorian Whisky Capital of the World”.
By offering daily tours and tastings, we can engage more proactively with visitors, showing them around the newly refurbished site and offering a sample of our new range back in the shop.
Nearly 200 years of history, expertise, craft and whisky-making knowledge have combined to create one of the most admired Single Malts in the world.
Glen Scotia Double Cask is a classic Campbeltown malt, with a formidable pedigree of whisky-making since 1832.
Every carefully selected cask has been matured in first-fill bourbon barrels before finishing this outstanding single malt whisky in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. Deep amber in colour with caramel and toffee on the nose, as well a signature Glen Scotia sea spray. On the palate, there is a perfect balance of rich spicy fruits, toffee and fudge, and a dry finish with vanilla oak.

An exotic and mouth-watering dram for those not afraid to explore and looking to be wonderfully surprised.
Glen Scotia Victoriana is a modern interpretation of a classic Victorian-style Campbeltown malt whisky.
A window through time, each cask is hand chosen for its character, maturity and flavour, ensuring this amazing liquid truly reflects why Campbeltown was known as the “Victorian Whisky Capital of the World”. Elegant and complex on the nose, evoking crème brulee overlaid with a subtle sea spray that is classic of a Campbeltown malt. The taste is rich and robust with roasted sugars, dark fruits, and spice. Married in batches and bottled at cask strength without chill filtration.
Glen Scotia 15 Year Old is an exceptional single malt whisky produced at this historic Campbeltown distillery. It has been gently matured in our finest American Oak barrels giving a gentle vanilla oak character, interwoven with the subtle notes of sea spray and spicy aromatic fruits on the nose.
A complex whisky with a subtle maritime character that embodies the true spirit of a classic Campbeltown single malt. Non-chill filtered.
18 YEAR
Glen Scotia 18 Year Old started its maturation in refill bourbon barrels and refilled American Oak hogsheads before our Master Blender selected the finest casks and vatted them together before a twelve-month finish in first-fill Oloroso casks. The Oloroso finish brings perfumed floral notes, which complement the distillery character of fruit with hints of sea spray and spice. An exceptional whisky with a complex maritime character that embodies the true spirit of a classic Campbeltown single malt. Non-chill filtered.
Glen Scotia 21 Year Old has been matured in a combination of refill bourbon barrels and refill American Oak hogsheads. Our Master Blender has then personally selected the finest and married them together for a six month finish in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks. The Oloroso sherry finish adds perfumed floral notes, making this a delicately aromatic dram while preserving the signature distillery character: rich fruits and spice with hints of Atlantic sea spray. The result is an exceptional single malt that delivers the true character of a refined and classic Campbeltown whisky.
Glen Scotia 25 Year Old has been matured in the finest bourbon casks. Individual casks are carefully selected for their character and flavour, and then further married together in first-fill bourbon casks for a minimum of twelve months. The fresh bourbon finish brings a hint of sweetness whilst raising the intensity of the wood but preserves the distillery character of fruit and hints of sea spray. An exceptional non-chill filtered single malt delivering the true character of a Campbeltown malt whisky.
Winner of “Best Whisky in the world” in 2021 having won double gold and platinum awards in 5 consecutive years – a worthy and thoroughly deserved achievement for an absolutely outstanding Single Malt Whisky.
48 YEAR OLD
With only 250 individually numbered bottles drawn from our oldest reserves, the Glen Scotia 48 Year Old is a rare and unique opportunity to taste a bygone era of the Glen Scotia distillery.
Originally laid down in December 1974, this remarkable liquid has passed through the hands and care of multiple generations of distillery teams. It is incredible to think that it was specially selected to be kept back time and time again by various hands, and allowed to continue its journey long after its carers stood down from the helm of the distillery. More than just a remarkable age, it is a window through time into a past era of Glen Scotia.
This rare 48 year old single malt is presented in a handmade oak display case, inspired by the artistic Spanish ‘Azulejo’ tile designs that were once found in the bodegas and bars of Seville, then wider Spain and Portugal over the 18th and 19th century.
THE REAL STORY OF LITTLEMILL DISTILLERY BEGAN OVER TWO CENTURIES AGO. IN 1750, ARCHIBALD BUCHANAN PURCHASED AUCHENTORLIE ESTATE, JUST A FEW MILES WEST OF LOCH LOMOND ON THE BANKS OF THE RIVER CLYDE FROM HIS BROTHER ANDREW AND WITH IT, A BREWERY CALLED LITTLEMILL.
Littlemill started producing whisky legally in 1772, when owner Archibald Buchanan of Glasgow built accommodation for the excisemen. In a less official capacity the site - formerly a brewery attached to Dunglass Castlemay have been used for distilling liquor since the early 14th century.
Littlemill passed through the hands of several individuals and businesses until it was acquired by Glen Catrine in the 1990s. However, the distillery fell silent in 1994 and was destroyed by fire in 2004, never to produce a drop again.
ART
WE’RE PROUD TO MAINTAIN ANCIENT TRADITIONS AND SKILLS. BUT WE’RE NOT AVERSE TO NEW IDEAS... ...IF THEY HELP US MAKE GREAT WHISKY.
Our business is a blend of tradition and modernity, and we firmly believe that’s the best way to make whisky today.
At Loch Lomond in Alexandria, we’ve recently invested £15 million into brand new stills, and we can make fine single malts and some of the best grain whisky in Scotland on the same premises. Our highly efficient bottling plant at Glen Catrine in Ayrshire produces more than 40m bottles of whisky and other spirits each year in all standard sizes of bottles from 5cl to 4.5L.
Meanwhile, in Campbeltown, our Glen Scotia Distillery still looks much as it did in the 19th century when Duncan MacCallum constructed the malting floors that form the imposing frontage on the town’s High Street. It’s said the spirit of MacCallum haunts the building to this day, yet the distillery was refitted at the turn of the millennium, following 15 ‘silent’ years, and today is in full and s teady production.
As for our people, they’ve amassed whole lifetimes of shared experience. From coopers and maltsters to stillmen and blenders, our people share a deep love and knowledge of their craft. The same is true of our suppliers - whether we’re sourcing American Oak bourbon casks or buying grain from Scottish farmers, we work with experts we know and trust.
OUR PEOPLE ARE AS VITAL TO OUR BRANDS AS GRAIN, MALT AND WATER. AFTER ALL IN WHISKY, THERE’S NO SUBSTITUTE FOR A GOOD EYE, A SUBTLE PALATE AND AN EXPERIENCED NOSE.
HIGH COMMISSIONER ORIGINAL BLEND

Paying homage to our passion for making unique, easy to drink whiskies led us to create this 7 year old, lightly peated limited edition. Barrel-aged for 7 years to bring out the full authentic taste, this delicate, premium blended Scotch Whisky combines the exceptional balance of flavours from our original recipe.
The Glengarry military cap, or as it is known in Scotland, ‘bonnet’, has been worn with pride by Scots for hundreds of years - since the days when tartan and kilts were banned, and much of our whisky was produced in illicit stills hidden from the excise men. It was named after Alexander Ranaldson MacDonnell of Glengarry, one of the last great Highland clan chieftains, who adopted the traditional headgear in 1794 for his regiment of local men, the Glengarry Fencibles. A friend of Sir Walter Scott and an inspiration for Robert Burns, MacDonnell of Glengarry was bold, adventurous and yet refined - the quintessential Scotsman. Today, the spirit of Glengarry lives on through the bonnet that bears his name. This is reflected in the distinctive character and refinement of the Glengarry whisky range comprising of a smooth, rich and easy-to-drink blended whisky, together with a range of Single Malts.
Clansman captures the heart and soul of Scotland in this fine whisky.

TRADITION, HERITAGE, AND TIME-HONOURED PRACTICES CAN PRODUCE INCREDIBLE WHISKY… BUT FOR EVERY RULE THAT MUST BE OBEYED AND EVERY STATUTE THAT MUST BE HONOURED, YOU LOSE AN OUNCE OF ORIGINALITY AND A SPARK OF FREE SPIRIT.
Our Loch Lomond Distillery may have a distinguished history, but we’re taking a whole new path. A forward-looking journey that’s not shaped by history or heritage. With a reputation for making innovative, much-loved spirits, Spearhead is our latest whisky. Crafted from a single grain, it’s a bit of a rule-breaker when compared to other whiskies.
WE ARE THE WHISKY THAT DOES THINGS DIFFERENTLY. HERE’S HOW WE MAKE SPEARHEAD:
GRAIN we use 100% malted barley and a longer fermentation process of 92-ish hours. This results in a fruitier more flavoursome spirit.
DISTIL our continuous distillation process happens within a copper Coffey still. Not a pot still. This makes our spirit lighter than most Scotch whiskies.
MATURE matured in ex-bourbon barrels, which turns our spirit into Scotch whisky (after 3 years) and adds depth.
FINISH finished in infrared and fire toasted virgin American Oak barrels, giving a whisky that’s sweeter and more approachable.
SPEARHEAD’S UNCONVENTIONAL, SWEETER, LIGHTER FLAVOUR MAKES IT THE PERFECT SPIRIT FOR MIXING. NOW MIX IT WITH YOUR IMAGINATION AND INSPIRATION. FIND OUR LIST OF RECOMMENDED SERVES AT WWW.SPEARHEADWHISKY.COM
