Well what an interesting and highly entertaining evening our ladies had at our August meeting! The speaker was an old friend of ours called Frances Raftery, this time Frances spoke about ( the clue is in the photo) the history of underwear, looking at how it has changed over the centuries, I really don't know how ladies coped all those years ago, not only with underwear but the dresses that they had to wear.
At the September meeting which is also Lowton WI's 61st birthday celebration, we will be welcoming Graham Gough talking about Rivington, past present and future.
Lowton WI meet on the first Thursday of the month at Lowton Social Club on Newton Road at 7.15pm.

Wigan Council has nominated us for the King’s Award for Voluntary Service.
Golborne Community Club
The Club is run on a “not for profit” basis. The club holds a Monday Club on the first Monday of the Month, 1pm until 5pm.
Members £4 and Non-Members £6 Come along and enjoy bingo, buffet, raffle and an artist all included in your fee. Cheap as chips and I’ve heard it is highly recommended!
