Welcome to the September issue of Local Living As local restrictions lift and vaccines become more widely available, things are finally starting to get back to normal. We’d like to thank everyone for doing their part in getting the world back to the way it should be. We’d also like to encourage you to continue your support of our local businesses included in the magazine.

This issue, check out some inspiring stories from our community - from our very own distributors being made Head Students, to a young tennis star rising through the ranks! We also have information about Lowton Women’s Institute reopening, so keep an eye out for that if you’re interested.

Lowton Women’s Institute Reopening Lowton WI held their first tentative meeting since pre-lockdown, and what a exciting evening it was!

There was an impressive and emotional turn-out for speaker Caroline Hendry from the Cinnamon Trust, a National Charity for the elderly and terminally ill people and their pets.

The discussion was a wonderful, heartwarming subject - perfect for our first meeting back together.

Lowton WI meet on the first Thursday of the month at Lowton Social Club on Newton Road, starting at 7.15pm.

If anyone is interested and would like to arrange a visit, please phone Lin Hayes on 01942 207764.7 Their next meeting is on the 2nd September, when they will be celebrating their 57th birthday! The speaker for that evening will be John Stirling, with his talk

‘From Toy Town to Buckingham Palace’.

Local Boy Becomes Wimbledon Champion Brennan Foster, 14, started his tennis journey at just 3 years old, and just this month placed first in the LTA

Road to Wimbledon Finals.

After competing everyday on the grass courts at Wimbledon in both the Boys 14u Singles and Boys 14u Doubles, Brennan finished top in his group box in the singles, going on to reach the second round, losing to the no.2 seed in a very close match. He then went on to play in the boys doubles, where both Brennan and his partner, Joseph Mclaughlin, played some very strong matches, reaching the finals and lifting the trophy to become the Wimbledon 2021 Boys 14u Doubles County Champions.

Trophies were presented by Jamie Baker - Wimbledon Tournament Director and Dan Bloxham - Head Coach at Wimbledon All England Lawn Tennis Club.
