Does Your Employer Offer Volunteering Days ?

EuroMix offered for their member of staff Mark to volunteer at Little Nest Rescue C.I.C. for a day instead of having to go to work!

Not only did Mark crack on through all the jobs, his Boss Steve stayed and joined in too.

They put some graft in with a smile on their faces and a spring in their step.

On top of volunteering EuroMix generously donated much needed fire safety equipment, first aid equipment, brushes and snow scoops to the rescue.

Talk to your employer do they offer Volunteer Days?

Lowton Community Darts Hits Bullseye with Darts Room Upgrade

Lowton Community Darts is celebrating a major milestone after eight years of steady growth and community spirit. What began as a small local initiative has now flourished into a thriving club, made possible through incredible local support and generosity.

The project received a significant boost thanks to a matching contribution from BD Construction Ltd. The combined effort has enabled a complete rebuild of the club's darts facility at Lowton Social Club, transforming it into a state-of-the-art venue.

The newly revamped darts room now boasts five interactive darts boards, allowing players to compete with others across the globe in real-time. In addition, two dedicated practice boards have been installed for members looking to sharpen their skills.

Luke, a member of the darts team, praised the collaborative effort behind the project: "Without people's contributions and without BD Construction, this room wouldn't have happened. We are absolutely amazed by what's been achieved."

The club isn't stopping there. In a bid to grow the sport and create more inclusive opportunities, Lowton Community Darts is now launching two exciting new programs: a Ladies League and a Darts Academy for young players aged 10 to 17.

"This has been years in the making," said a spokesperson for the club. "We've seen more and more people get involved each year, and this upgrade is a game-changer. Whether you're a seasoned player or just starting out, there's something for everyone here now."

If you're interested in joining the league, signing up your child for the academy, or simply learning more about what the club offers

Karate Instructors Take On the Ironman—

And Conquer It!

Three instructors from the English Karate Academy proved their strength and stamina go far beyond the dojo as they successfully completed the Bolton Ironman 70.3 on Sunday, 8th June.

Senseis Gary Foxwell (51) Iain Wilkinson (48) and Gareth Waite (45) tackled the gruelling triathlon, which included a 1.2mile open water swim at Pennington Flash, a 56 mile bike ride and a punishing 13.1 half marathon to the finish line a total of 70.3 miles!

Months of intense training paid off as all three crossed the finish line well within the 8.5 hour official cut off time, demonstrating not just physical endurance, but the mental discipline they’ve honed through years of martial arts.

They’re not stopping there! The trio already has their sights set on returning next year but perhaps the biggest challenge lies ahead for Sensei Iain, who has signed up to complete a double Ironman over Mount Snowdon!

From black belts to Ironmen, these Karatekas are a true inspiration to students and atheletes alike.

“Since starting group I really look forward to my Saturday mornings in group as everyone is so supportive”

Slimming World Consultant

Vicki Jones says” we’re all so proud of Mark not just because of how much weight he’s lost , but because of his positive attitude in group.”

You are assured of a warm welcome at any of our 10 sessions locally.

Lowton WI

The month of June has traditionally been our Strawberry Tea and this year was no different, who doesn’t love a delicious scone with jam and clotted cream, the ladies of the WI do that’s for sure. To add a bit of fun to the evening it was time to get their thinking caps on for a quiz, since Lowton is within the Lancashire Federation of the WI the theme was of course Lancashire. At our July meeting the speaker will be Ruth Sanderson whose talk will be titled “Choices”.

If there are any ladies out there who are unsure of what the Women’s Institute is about, why not phone Val Barrow on 07419 335330 for further information and arrange a visit. Lowton WI meet on the first Thursday of the month at 7.15pm in Lowton Social Club on Newton Road.
