Although Easter is a couple of weeks away Lowton WI’s April meeting had a little theme going on. A small group of ladies who are named the ‘The Crew’ as they hold “Brew for the Crew” charity events for our ladies to raise money for the North West Air Ambulance, last month held a cake sale (which WI doesn’t eat cake?) the cakes were delicious and were very much Easter themed cakes. Our craft group, not to be out done had made some Easter characters which were sold on the evening. We also held a table raffle and all in all on the evening we raised a grand total of £129.60 to be donated to the North West Air Ambulance Service. Well done to all our ladies.
Our Crew members are holding a ‘Brew for the Crew’ event on the 16th. May 1pm-3pm in St Mary’s Community Hall, please come along and support the yellow helicopter which we have seen landing on the local school field when having been called out to our area. Our speaker this month was a very entertaining lady called Lisa Moore who is a felt artist, Lisa told us how she had become interested in the craft and how she has built a business up over time, Lisa is a regular speaker at various WI groups as well as holding workshops. Our speaker in May is talking about ‘Policing in Preston’.
