Welcome to the August issue of Local Living It’s been a long road, but freedom is finally on the horizon.

Most restrictions are finally being lifted, and it is beginning to feel like life is starting to go back to normal. Well, as normal as it can feel in this heat! We here at Local Living hope that all our readers are finding ways to keep cool this summer, despite how challenging the weather is trying to make it!

In this issue, we have a bunch of articles highlighting local stories, including a fundraiser for breast cancer charity Cop-

paFeel. Be sure to check them out! We encourage everyone to donate if they can, as breast cancer will affect 1 in 7 women (and 1 in 100 men!) in the UK alone, and every penny raised goes towards CoppaFeel’s awareness and education campaign. This is an important cause that is close to our hearts, and we hope bringing some attention to the story in this issue can do some good.

As always, if you have a story you think should be highlighted, please don’t hesitate to get in touch! We love to showcase local heroes, and would love to be able to help even more get the recognition they deserve in our community!

Local Woman Joins Cancer Charity Fundraiser Golborne & Lowton local Shelley Benbow, will be teaming up with Giovanna Fletcher and Emma Willis to trek the Scottish Highlands in September for the breast cancer awareness charity, CoppaFeel!

Shelley was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2014 at the age of 33 after finding a lump in her right breast. She discovered the charity mid-treatment and decided she wanted to use her story and experiences in a positive way to help others and has been a volunteer boobette for the past 7 years.

Along with the celebrities and around 100 others, Shelley will be taking on the once in a lifetime adventure mid September. The 'Come Fly with Gi' team will be camping, trekking 100km and climbing in the Scottish Highlands for 5 days, tackling some of the most challenging sections of the Rob Roy way and climbing to the summit of one of Scotland's highest mountains, Ben Lawers (1,214m) to raise money for CoppaFeel! and the wonderful life saving work they do.

Local Care Home Recognised for Care Service Awards Elmridge Court Extra Care Estate has recently been recognised by the Wigan Hospice Service for two awards, exemplifying their excellent care and compassionate staff.
