SCHOOL MINIBUS STOLEN

On Friday evening 30th September around 7.25pm the minibus was reversed through the school gates, a man white, around aged 30, with stubble and wearing a hat was spotted driving the vehicle, as they reversed onto the road , they then scraped up the side of a residents car on Hurst lane. At 7.30pm they were spotted running a red light at the Pennington bypass and heading towards Lowton/Golborne. The images have also been captured on CCTV and there were 2 people. As the residents reported this so quickly to the Police , many people were alerted on social media and have been looking for us, to try and find our “Bertie Bus”, especially as they know this is not just a minibus to us, with coach fuel costs as they are this is a vital life line for children to have trips. We had just purchased 15 new and boxed booster seats and these were in the back, they are also missing. Today at 7.35am it was spotted by a number of wonderful people who alerted school and in turn we have informed the police. Unfortunately, they have left the bus with no engine, no booster seats and the gear stick is also gone. We also have to replace our school gates as although they close, they are bent.

Our children were as you can imagine really upset and we have talked about how the people who stole our bus didn’t think about how their unkindness impacts on others. Our Christian value is compassion and we don’t want to feel angry inside so we are going to let go of this feeling and forgive.

One little boy on hearing our sad news said” we are so kind, if they had asked to use our bus, we would have let them.” I think that says it all really.

George Moss and Sons: invests £500k in renewables to lower energy costs for tenants

Leigh business, George Moss & Sons Ltd, has pledged to support its tenants with the rising cost of living by lowering their energy costs through a £500k investment in solar panels.

The one hundred year old family business owns and manages 620,000 sq.ft. of prime industrial property at Moss Industrial Estate, on St. Helen’s Road in Lowton, which is home to over 100 local businesses of varying sizes and industries.

George Moss & Sons has already pledged to make the industrial estate carbon neutral through a range of sustainability initiatives, and, over the last year, has refurbished many of its older units and fitted them with solar panels.

Now, through this new investment of £500k, the business will accelerate its sustainability agenda by expanding the installation of solar panels across the industrial estate in order to support tenants with lower energy costs, protect them from rising energy prices, and ensure their growth and sustainability for the long term.

In 2020, George Moss & Sons celebrated one hundred years of growth by releasing a special centenary video which featured local people who worked for the business back in the 1940s, 50s and 60s, at a time when it built many of the town’s local landmarks. Since 1920, the business has passed down through the generations to the current owner, Sebastian Moss, the great great grandson of founder, George Moss.

In 2021, Sebastian Moss appointed Neill Wood as managing director to drive the growth and sustainability of Moss Industrial Estate and to share the strategic and operational leadership of the business as it enters its second century. Neill Wood, managing director of Moss Industrial Estate, said: “With costs spiralling, many small businesses are feeling the pinch and are very concerned about the future of the economy. As a business which has a history of supporting its tenants with their own growth and success, we are accelerating our sustainability plans in order to help our tenants with the rising cost of energy. “This £500k investment will enable us to install solar panels on around 40 per cent of our industrial units by the end of 2023. This is an investment that is worth making now to reduce costs in the long term and will enable our tenants to generate enough electricity to run their businesses, reduce their use of fossils fuels and protect them from future price rises in the energy market.”
