Welcome to the June issue of Local Living As we move out of May, so too do we finally move out of lockdown! Our Life After Lockdown section is making a return this month, with even more local businesses looking forward to seeing you all back.

While precautions will still be in place in many establishments, this next stage of reopenings marks the start of life hopefully returning to normal.

While our Life After Lockdown segment has some amazing local businesses, our What’s On Guide has activities and events for the whole family. Here’s hoping this is just the start of a jam-packed summer!

As always, we hope everyone is staying safe and healthy, and following the guidelines still in place.

It’s been a long road, but we’re finally seeing the end of the tunnel, so let’s all stay strong and keep protecting ourselves, our families, and each other.

What’s On Guide

Dave was a born and bred Golborner, a father of 3; 2 sons and a daughter of which his eldest son as always played at Golborne Sports FC His passion was Liverpool FC. He supported local food banks which is what the proceeds will be going to and also if anyone would like to bring any items on the day would be most welcome.

This is the first time his family and friends will have been able to get together to celebrate his death due to COVID restrictions.

Also our annual fundraiser also donate to MND.

We all first met Lynda at the toddler group when she used to bring her granddaughter, several years ago.

She has contributed endless voluntary hours helping to run the two weekly sessions and also been a huge support behind the scenes with the administration of the group, which she is still currently fulfilling. Her husband Derek has also been involved with helping the group in various tasks.

Lynda has helped to raise money for several charities over the years for example:- completing Race for Life numerous times for Cancer Research, selling cakes or raffle tickets at events for Alzheimers society, Retts UK, MIND, The Walton centre to name a few.

She’s even dressed up each year as an elf for the children’s Christmas parties and accompanied them on the roller coaster rides at Gullivers world on our summer annual trip.

Lynda has been strong, inspirational, uplifting, reliable and an understanding friend to us all at the group and will be sincerely missed.

Indian Spiced Lamb Burgers Ingredients For the Burgers: 500g Lamb Mince 2 Garlic Cloves 1 x 2.5cm Piece fresh root ginger, peeled & finely chopped 1-2 small green chillies, deseeded & finely chopped 2 Tsps Ground Cumin 3 Tbsps Garam Masala or Medium Curry Powder

For the Pea & Tomato Relish: 100g fresh or frozen peas (thaw if using frozen) mashed 4 medium tomatoes, roughly chopped Large handful freshly chopped coriander To Serve: 4 Burger Buns 1-2 Salad Leaves

Method In a large bowl, mix all the burger ingredients together.

Season. Using slightly damp hands, shape the mixture into four 5cm burgers. Cover and chill for 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, prepare the pea and tomato relish. In a small bowl, mix all the ingredients together, season to taste and set aside.

Cook the burgers under a preheated moderate grill or on a prepared BBQ for 6–8 minutes on each side until thoroughly cooked and meat juices run clear.

Serve in burger buns with salad leaves, a spoonful of the relish and selection of accompaniments of your choice.
