Viva Las Vegas! This past weekend I rolled into Sin City with my teen daughter for a club volleyball tourney. It was quite a departure from 30 years ago when a Vegas 40-hour romp meant something entirely different. There were no donations made at the casino, no late night clubbing and thankfully no problem waking up early – which was a good thing.

As I watched my daughter and her team compete on the court, it made me proud to see how all her hours and years of dedication to volleyball were paying off. Competitive sports teaches kids so much. Life is a game in so many ways, as we have our small victories and crushing defeats along the way. Though my daughter may not possess the “win at all cost” gene that I have, her friendly and fun spirit shined brightly. I think cheering at a game can be even more stressful than playing in it. I witnessed the team coalescing as the tournament progressed and the competition elevated. It was so fulfilling to see her and her teammates rise to the moment.

She may have not walked away the victor, but feeling that adrenaline rush and performing at the highest level was a wonderful life lesson.

Jerry Seiner’s journey into the automotive world began in 1975 when he purchased his first Chevrolet dealership in Cadillac, Michigan. With a background in advertising and a passion for cars, Seiner quickly established a reputation for exceptional customer service and strong ties with General Motors, earning him the nickname “The GM Guy.”

His commitment to building lasting relationships laid the foundation for what would become a family-owned automotive group recognized across the western United States. Today, Jerry Seiner Dealerships operates over 10 locations across Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and California, representing leading brands such as Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac, Kia, Mazda, Isuzu Trucks, and now Honda.

In its milestone 50th year, the company isn’t just reflecting on its history—it’s writing the next chapter. Among the most significant developments is the recent acquisition of Ocean Honda in San Juan Capistrano, now proudly operating as Jerry Seiner Honda. This move signals a strategic entry into Southern California and furthers the company’s mission of “Making Friends to Last a Lifetime.”

Leading the California expansion is Tim Hemmersmeier, a third-generation member of the Seiner family. With years of experience across the organization and a forwardthinking approach to leadership, Tim brings a deep understanding of the brand’s values and a fresh perspective to the San Juan Capistrano store. His presence ensures that the culture of care, integrity, and professionalism that defines the Seiner name will continue to guide the store’s growth.

“Tim is more than a General Manager,” said Chris Hemmersmeier, President and CEO of Jerry Seiner Dealerships. “He represents our family’s ongoing commitment to building strong connections with customers and communities. His leadership reflects the values we’ve stood by for 50 years—respect, transparency, and treating every customer like family.”

With Tim at the helm, Jerry Seiner Honda is positioned to become a trusted destination in the community—offering the full lineup of Honda vehicles, a knowledgeable and friendly staff, and the award-winning service that has come to define the brand experience.

“This acquisition aligns with our strategic vision and brings our core value of exceptional customer service,” Chris Hemmersmeier added. “We’re excited to introduce the ‘Seiner Difference’ to the vibrant San Juan Capistrano community.”

That “difference” has been the foundation of the company since day one. From its early beginnings to its current multi-state presence, Jerry Seiner Dealerships has prioritized building long-term relationships—both with its customers and its employees. The group’s approach centers on empowering its teams and fostering an environment that makes people feel welcome and valued.

When Chris Hemmersmeier succeeded founder Jerry Seiner in 2012, the company entered a new era of thoughtful growth and innovation—one that honored the business’s heritage while preparing it for the future. Since then, the group has strategically expanded its footprint without compromising the core values that have earned it decades of customer trust.

The addition of Jerry Seiner Honda in San Juan Capistrano is not just a milestone—it’s a springboard for what’s ahead. As the organization looks to the next decade, it has its sights set on expanding into new cities, high-growth communities, and taking on bold new challenges. With each opportunity, Jerry Seiner Dealerships continues to evolve—learning from the ever-changing, fast-moving automotive industry while staying grounded in its values.

As the company grows, so does its commitment to delivering meaningful customer experiences and building strong community connections. The Seiner legacy isn’t just something to look back on—it’s a promise that continues to grow, one customer, one store, and one relationship at a time.

RESTAURANT

Just over a year ago, Shorecliffs Golf Club in San Clemente completed a major renovation that included an upgraded course, refreshed clubhouse and the addition of the new 501 Restaurant & Bar. The restaurant now features a modern interior, a well-appointed center bar, a spacious wraparound patio and two golf simulators—all set against a scenic backdrop of rolling hills, graceful trees and a manicured fairway. Once touted as President Nixon’s favorite local course, Shorecliffs is tucked away in a resort-like setting bordered by green canyons and ocean breezes.

Now home to the stylish 501 Restaurant & Bar, locals can enjoy fresh, flavorful meals including hearty breakfasts, light and tasty lunches and sophisticatedly crafted dinner entrées.

State-of-the-art burgers, filling appetizers and other classic golf club fare abound, but the dinner menu offers something new—enticing even the most discerning palates. Must-try dishes include the delectable lobster ravioli with a savory dill sherry cream sauce and the grilled salmon, cooked to perfection and finished with a tangy tarragon sherry sauce that may even convert the pickiest non-fish eaters. The Chicken Marsala melts in your mouth, glazed with Marsala wine, shallots, cream, parsley and a delicate demi-glace, complemented by thinly sliced portobello mushrooms. The mouthwatering New York steak is served with a Chianti reduction, pink and green peppercorns, brandy cream, veal stock, garlic, shallots and tarragon—paired perfectly with garlicky butter mashed potatoes.

Don’t miss Prime Rib Night, held every second Thursday of the month, with a fish option available for non-meat eaters. Reservations are recommended. Other entertaining events include Italian Night, Movie Night and a four-course Murder Mystery Dinner on July 19. Live music is offered every Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m., the perfect backdrop as you sip from a wide selection of wines, beers and signature cocktails.

Looking to host a party, corporate event or wedding? Shorecliffs provides an idyllic setting with lush fairways, elegant water features, upscale décor and a customizable menu of services and dishes—making 501 the ideal venue for any budget or theme. Whether you’re a single-digit handicapper or simply prefer cruising in a golf cart, 501 Restaurant & Bar at Shorecliffs Golf Club is a top-notch dining destination everyone can enjoy.
