Fast healing of agonising Achilles tendonitis

“The cost was reasonable – it’s given me my life back”

Alison Lukins, aged 52, runs a dairy farm with her family on the Somerset Levels. “I’m always busy and often walking through mud and cow pats wearing wellington boots.”

So when, three years ago, Alison developed agonising Achilles tendonitis in her right heel, her whole life was disrupted. “I had to take stairs one at a time and at night keep my foot against the headboard at 90 degrees to avoid severe pain whilst trying to sleep. If my wellies caught the back of my heel it was agony. In the end I couldn’t work and wondered if life was worth living.

“After suffering for three years trying painkillers and physiotherapy, I saw online that Shockwave therapy might help. Then, in the LocalReach magazine, the word Shockwave jumped out from Matthew’s advert.

“I got a quick appointment and had a session of Shockwave followed by Laser therapy and immediately noticed an improvement. After three intensive sessions, we went to Scotland and I was striding out as though nothing was wrong. Later I had two more sessions and then my heel was 99% better and has continued to improve.”

“I was really impressed with Matthew, he is so kind, pleasant and professional. The clinic is very convenient and the cost was reasonable and affordable, especially because it’s given me my life back. I’m telling everybody I see now!”

Matthew explains, “Achilles tendonitis can be agony but Shockwave therapy pulses waves that are proven to prompt natural healing and our revolutionary Level Laser machine uses uniquely powerful yet gentle light frequency to heal musculoskeletal conditions quickly.”

One Pair Is Never Enough

As the countdown to Christmas starts to enter our minds and we start making lists or maybe even start Christmas shopping it is easy to become overwhelmed and start putting off doing other jobs.

One job not to be put off is keeping our eyes in tip top condition. Spending hours Internet shopping or crafting Xmas cards and presents can take its toll, causing dryness and eye fatigue.

This isn’t limited to just Christmas however, our ever increasing busy lives, which includes, driving, writing, reading, sporting activities, using multiple digital devices including virtual reality, reading music, crafting, (the list goes on) means sometimes one pair of specs isn’t enough for all the demands that we make on our eyes.

With that in mind Eyetech are pleased to announce an exclusive pre-Christmas offer. It will run through November and December. For this period only we are offering our clients the opportunity to buy one pair of spectacles and get a second pair at half price. This applies to any combination of spectacles. So if you’re off in search of some winter sun, pop a new pair of sunglasses in your suitcase to wear alongside your everyday pair, or maybe a spare pair of reading specs to keep by the bed or to leave at the office.

To take advantage of this limited offer make sure you book your Eye Examination early, to avoid disappointment.

Empowering and limiting beliefs

Beliefs are not facts, rather our personal principles and rules we live by, they can be both empowering and/or restrictive.

A notable example of opposing beliefs in action are seen in the cult TV show the X files main characters Moulder and Scully. Moulders was open to unexplained phenomena and Scully was driven by science and quantifiable evidence. Often Leaving the viewers exacerbated by Moulders at times naive gullibility and even more frustrated by Scully who despite having many strange encounters continued to dismiss the obvious!

Beliefs around past challenging events can continue to impact negatively upon someone; if you find yourself frustrated by your own selfimposed rules stopping you from applying for that new job or meeting someone special, begin to question your assumptions, asking how else you can think about this, even where the rule came from?

If you find your beliefs in the way of making lifestyle or wellbeing changes, contact me for a 30-minute exploration call to see how I can support you through coaching to achieve your desired outcome.

Street Festive Market 2024

Street Parish Council are delighted to announce they will host their festive market in the village on Saturday 7th December.

The stalls will showcase products from local businesses ranging from handmade crafts, jewellery, stocking-fillers not to mention a range of refreshments and treats to suit all tastes. Local community groups will also be attending to offer advice and sign posting to the incredible services they offer.

There will be plenty of entertainment including music and festivities to create a very merry atmosphere for all. The market will run from 11am-4pm along the High Street and Farm Road.

Street Parish Council members will be on hand to interact with the community and answer questions or offer advice at their very own stall outside Crispin Hall which will be hosting its indoor Christmas Market the same day. Everyone is encouraged to come along and share their opinions about how the council can work to achieve local aims and build on a vision of priorities for Street and the wider community to help it continue to thrive.

Over the years the parish council have worked hard to make the market a truly special occasion for villagers and visitors alike. It is a great opportunity to celebrate the village and provide an exciting day for families and everyone within the community to revel in the festivities!

Street Festive Market follows Small Business Saturday the weekend prior, so it is a perfect opportunity to support local enterprises and contribute positively to the local economy.

If you’re interested in reserving a stall, please email Danielle, Assistant Clerk – Community Engagement, via acce@street-pc.gov.uk to request a booking form. It will be first-comefirst-served, and it is a great pleasure to say there has been lots of interest already because of previous years’ successes.

The scheme for the festive lights along the High Street and Farm Road will be updated this year and the council hopes the community will enjoy this enhancement over the festive period.

The council encourage all businesses to get on board with the joyful spirit of the season and join in with the day’s celebrations. The annual Christmas Window Competition will be launched in late November with a grand prize to be announced in the new year to a lucky winner who participates providing all the correct answers.

We hope you will join us for what promises to be a fun-filled and entertaining day out for all!

Stay up to date with all the Street Parish Council news, by following the website at www.street-pc.gov.uk and by following our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts.

How the Sales Process Works

With more attractive mortgage rates now on offer, hopefully this will lead to increased market activity, so I thought it might be helpful to summarise the sales process from when a potential buyer makes an offer on your property.

Step 1: Qualifying the Buyer – this involves determining how the purchase will be funded. If it is relying on the sale of their current property, the chain is checked. If the buyer is relying on a mortgage has this been agreed in principal ? For a cash buyer, the Agent needs to confirm that they’ve the actual funds in place.

Step 2: Sales Progression – this is where the hard work really starts as it is vital to keep track of the whole chain from beginning to end with weekly calls to the Solicitors and Agents involved. Often there is a dedicated Sales Progressor whose sole job is to progress, monitor and move forward a chain. Should the chain break, then the sale is stalled or may collapse completely.

Step 3: Arranging the Survey – This performs 2 main functions a) provides a valuation on your property used by a mortgage lender to determine its suitability for lending, and b) provides a summary of the property’s condition.

Step 4: Conveyancing – Solicitors will be instructed to act on your behalf in respect of the sale and the onward purchase of your new home. You will be sent lengthy documents to complete on the house you are selling, confirming exactly what is included in the sale. As the sale progresses, the buyer’s Solicitor will have raised enquiries some of which you will be asked to respond to.

Step 5: Exchange of Contracts and Completion – once both Solicitors are happy then an exchange of contracts take place. At this point both yourself and the buyers are locked into the sale and the buyer will need to take out building insurance. Normally there is a gap between exchange of contracts and the completion date, but it is not always the case.

Step 6: Handing over the Keys – this will be done by the Agent, and the utility meters read at the same time.

For anyone wondering what their home is worth, my EweMove website features a free online valuation tool that provides an instant valuation report or ring 07566 756699 to book an appointment today !

Hearing Loss and the Festive Season

The festive season, a time for joy, laughter, and cherished memories, can be a magical experience for everyone. For those with hearing loss, however, it can present unique challenges. The cacophony of noise at Christmas parties, and the distant chatter of loved ones at the dinner table can make it difficult to fully immerse oneself in the festivities.

For individuals with hearing loss, these auditory challenges can lead to feelings of isolation, frustration, and even anxiety. The fear of missing out on important conversations or social interactions can dampen the festive spirit. Moreover, the added stress and fatigue associated with the festive season can exacerbate hearing difficulties.

It is important to remember that hearing loss is treatable. With advancements in hearing technology, there are incredibly effective solutions available to improve hearing and enhance quality of life. Hearing aids, for example, can significantly improve speech understanding and reduce listening effort.

If you or someone you know is experiencing hearing loss, it is essential to seek professional help. A routine hearing test can provide valuable insights into the extent of hearing impairment and help determine the most suitable treatment options. By addressing hearing loss early, individuals can enjoy a more fulfilling and connected Christmas period and beyond.

If you’d like to speak myself or the team for further advice or to book an appointment, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

The Glastonbury and Street Lions Club Presentation

The Glastonbury and Street Lions Club (CIO) has recently donated £600 to the Somerset Prostate Support Association (SPSA) and also supported a Prostate Testing event organised by them in Glastonbury. Sponsorship for the day was provided by The Brue Boys, a local choir established over 15 years ago in the Baltonsborough area. They organised a concert earlier in the year with sponsorship from Burns the Bread and Glastonbury Ales which raised £2580.00 for SPSA and, together with two private donations and finally the G & S Lions Club donation, £5,600 has been raised that will enable 200 men to be tested. A spokesperson for the Lions said “The support that the SPSA has had from The Brue Boys and others is wonderful and we are delighted to be able to support this initiative from the SPSA. Every year in the UK 40,000 men are diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and early diagnosis can be crucial to successful treatment.”

The SPSA holds events throughout the year and anyone interested should go for more information to mypsatests.org.uk as tests must be booked in advance online. Unfortunately it is not possible to to be tested without a prior appointment. If there are any questions regarding either SPSA or a test please contact Peter Hopwood on either 01458 441669 or via email peterhopwood46@gmail.com

“Fantastic responsive service. It’s the 2nd time I have used central roofing and on both occasions they turned up on time got on with the job and kept us informed on what was being carried out. Went above and beyond and assisted me in issues around insurance. I would recommend this company to anyone with roofing issues.”

We used Central Roofing to take down an old flat roof and install another on our business premises at Knight Brothers Garage. The company was very reliable, they turned up when they said they would, the guys that did the work were very tidy and efficient. The work was completed in the time frame they set…we are more than pleased with the finished job.
