Curator and lecturer Connie Gray will delve into the archives of the famous fashion magazine to explore how trends are set. Brent Knoll Village Fête

Brent Knoll Fête is on Saturday 8th June, on the Village Green from 2:00pm, with all the normal traditional stalls, games and entertainment. We will be entertained by the Chalice Morris Men, Brent Knoll School Maypole Dancers and King Alfred School Concert Band. Fancy dress theme is “Book Characters”, so lots to choose from! Our next meeting will be Tuesday 11th June at the Catholic Church Hall, Oxford Street, Burnham on Sea. Demonstrator for the evening is Denise Bright from Templecombe with her demonstration titled “Joys of the Season” Doors open 7:00pm, come along and have a tea/coffee and a chat before the meeting starting at 7:30pm. Serendipity Singers Concert

Serendipity Singers present their Annual Concert on 22nd June, 3:00pm at the Highbridge Community Hall, Market Street, Highbridge TA9 3BP. We’ve seen an increase in fraud attempts by text messages, phone calls and random pop up messages on the screen. Criminals claiming to be from organisations such as Microsoft, Amazon, Apple and high street banks have tried remote access scams on our customers. Learn how to protect yourself as fraudsters get smarter.

What is a remote access scam?

Remote access scams are when criminals contact you pretending to be someone they’re not. Then, they convince you to click web links or download applications for remote access software. This software lets fraudsters gain access to your computer or mobile phone. Once they have access, criminals will try to get into your financial accounts and information.

How to spot the signs:

Large organisations will never contact you to:

• Ask you to click on a web support link or download remote access to your device.

• Tell you your account isn’t safe, and ask you to move your money to a new account to keep it safe.

• Ask for your app PIN, card PIN, or any passwords.

How to protect yourself from scams:

• If someone claiming to be an organisation asks you to download an application or visit any weblink (such as AnyDesk or TeamViewer) to get access to your computer, hang up immediately.

• If you have received an email, these can often be reported directly to the organisation. You can use a search engine and put in “Phishing” then the organisation name, and often they will have an email address that will accept the scam messages.

Can pelvic floor exercises help treat incontinence?

You might already be aware of pelvic floor exercises. Women are frequently recommended them after giving birth, and men after prostate surgery. But did you know they can really help with incontinence?

This is because they strengthen your pelvic floor muscles, which support your bladder. When these muscles are stronger, you’re less likely to have leaks.

Pretend you’re trying to stop the flow of urine. Pull in and squeeze those muscles. Hold the squeeze for 5 to 10 seconds, then rest for 5 to 10 seconds. Don’t hold your breath or tighten any other muscles - and keep breathing!

Try for three or four sets of 10 contractions every day. You can do them anytime, anywhere. When you’re watching tv, sitting at a desk, driving a car – no-one will ever notice!

Are You A Happy Bus User? Volunteers needed to help out

Twice a year the Local Transport Authority allows bus operators to change timetables, this usually is just before Spring and Autumn schools return from their breaks. We need you to help man stalls handing out paper timetables to those who need them AND also help out at other events promoting bus travel, adopt a bus stop: keep an eye out for cleanliness, shelter damage, graffiti and if correct timetable is shown in the case. We are a community group totally manned by volunteers no fees or incidental expenses are paid.

Beach’d Buoys Going Large

The Beach’d Buoys, Somerset’s acclaimed Shanty Band are looking to expand further into Somerset. Their unique style has been entertaining pubs, clubs, community groups care homes and celebrations since the mid-2010’s and are looking for musicians and singers to develop the group further. It doesn’t pay; all proceeds go to the SW Childrens’ Hospice at Wraxall. We are also prominent in the various Festivals throughout the South West.
