Outdoor Walking Cricket for the Over 55’s

Outdoor Walking Cricket started in June and runs until 30th July, 10:00am - 12 noon at Huntspill & District Cricket Ground, New Road, West Huntspill TA9 3QD.

All abilities are welcome regardless of whether you have played cricket before or not. It is open to both males & females and all playing equipment is provided. All you need to do is wear comfortable clothing and footwear and look forward to having a social and active, enjoyable, and fun time playing a version of cricket with likeminded people.

Brent Knoll Music on the Green 2024 - ‘Six Machine’

This year’s Annual Music on the Green will be held on Brent Knoll Village Green on Saturday 20th July at 7:30pm.

Burnham Moose President’s Lunch

Moose Burnham Lodge held their Soup & Sweet on 11th May and raised over £300 for local charities, which was amazing. Stage 2 Drama - your local Berrow Players

Another show finished and thank you to all who attended and hope you had a great time, a lot of hard work but with a wonderful set produced by our team Andrew Kempton, Colin Rufus and John Burham we enjoyed performing. We continue to meet twice a week at the Balliol Hall, Church Road, West Huntspill, TA9 3RN throughout the summer months. Why not come and join us? As technology advances, so do the tactics of scammers and hackers. We are witnessing a sharp increase in the creation of new, deceptive, scam techniques and infections, that we suspect are both designed and manufactured with the help of AI tools – artificial intelligence – to make them leaps and bounds more convincing than ever seen before. Increasing numbers of people are being scammed because it is now harder than ever to know what is and isn’t genuine.

Therefore, we our redoubling our efforts to strengthen the protection of equipment for our customers. The techniques we use to keep our customers safe have continuously evolved over the years to defend against threats as they emerge, and we offer and encourage a straightforward home visit whereby we can review existing equipment and offer help and advice as to what should be strengthened to stave off scammers and infections.

Often, upon attending a customer for unrelated reasons, we realize the customer was scammed, or is infected, despite them having not realised it themselves – often relying on big name anti-virus, that doesn’t always do the job. Learn the life skill that is swimming

Burnham on Sea swimming club has been established for nearly 50 years. We provide affordable swimming lessons and training for swimmers beginning to learn to swim right through to those swimming competitively. We participate in a number of galas and have an inclusive approach. We are entirely run by dedicated volunteers which allows us to keep our prices as low as possible enabling everybody to learn the life skill that is swimming.

Age UK Somerset is searching for volunteers to train in, and deliver, Tai Chi QiGong or Sit, Fit and Fun sessions. Sit, Fit and Fun is a fun and friendly chair-based exercise session. We are in desperate need of Volunteer Community Car Drivers. Our volunteer drivers take people to attend medical appointments out of their local area when they don’t have any other form of transport. Foundations Up Construction Team Up with Sweet Track Counselling

Foundations Up Construction joined a team from Sweet Track Counselling to complete the Somerset 100 Cycle ride on the 19th May to raise awareness for their low-cost counselling services. Sweet Track is a not-for-profit community interest company which offers free and affordable counselling, funded through donations and grants. “It is fantastic to have raised over £1,500 for a great and local cause which is supporting young adults in the area. The event was really well organised and great fun. We had superb weather and the atmosphere was very supportive. They even had refuelling stations to take on snacks and water – which was very welcome!” says Charles from Foundations Up Construction.

Mental Health in construction is an issue which often goes unnoticed by the wider public. Over a quarter of all work-related illness in construction is caused by stress, depression and anxiety. Sweet Track is based in Glastonbury so they are in a position to help construction workers (and others from all walks of life) from all across Somerset by offering affordable counselling services to all local people who need it.
