Hey Local Break Readers,
Welcome to our 3rd issue, where we’re all about the badass women surfers of North County. The “seasterhood” is real, and it’s not just for women— plenty of men find their crew in the lineup too.
In this issue, we’re excited to feature:
• Lex, the surfer and creative mind behind Sea + Soil,
• Elle on the magic of her women’s surf retreats,
• Kyla, a surf instructor dedicated to building community,
• A squad of 9-year-old girls starting their own surf club,
• And the Changing Tides Foundation, mentoring young girls through surf.
We’re also celebrating local legends— Linda Benson, who paved the way for women in surfing, and Caity Simmers, proving that “Pipeline’s for the f**kng girls.”
This issue is a reminder that surfing is for everyone. It’s a sport that thrives on inclusivity, positivity, and we’re lucky to have such an epic surf scene here in North County. The “seasterhood” is alive and thriving, creating connections in and out of the water. Everyone has a story—hope you enjoy reading about these.
