WELCOME...
Welcome to the Christmas Edition of Cheshire’s Golden Triangle
As the festive season begins to shimmer across our towns and villages, we’re delighted to welcome you to this year’s Christmas edition of CGT. There is something uniquely magical about Cheshire at this time of year – lights glowing in shop windows, communities coming together, and a shared sense of warmth that makes our region feel more connected than ever.
We begin our festive journey in the ever-evolving town of Knutsford. Its beautifully refurbished Market Hall, now looking wonderfully seasonal, stands proudly beneath a brand-new solar-panelled roof installed by local business CSS. The hall feels refreshed, vibrant, and full of holiday charm – an inspiring symbol of how tradition and innovation can thrive side by side.
From there, we make a stop at Gauntlet Birds of Prey, whose winter displays continue to captivate visitors of all ages. Their incredible work offers a rare chance to experience the beauty and power of these magnificent birds up close – an unforgettable treat at any time of the year, but especially enchanting during the festive season.
Our journey continues to CAFT – the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust – where the beloved children’s animal farm is supported this year by another exciting new arrival to the area, Cullimore Dutton. The joy CAFT brings to children and families is truly at the heart of what Christmas should be, and their work reminds us of the importance of giving, caring, and community spirit.
And of course, Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without gifts and a visit to Santa –and we have plenty of both in these pages. Little Abrianna shares her charming nineyear-old perspective on life as a young girl in our community, while we also stop by the outstanding Wilmslow Prep School, a place always brimming with joy, achievement, and festive sparkle.
Naturally, no December edition would be complete without a generous helping of seasonal food and drink. We’ve gathered some of the very best local flavours to inspire your celebrations.
From all of us at Cheshire’s Golden Triangle, we wish you the warmest season’s greetings, and who knows, if it’s warm Winter sun you are wishing for, Prestbury Travel may just be able to whisk you off to exotic far away lands?
We look forward to seeing you in the New Year.

MINCE PIES –the classics & the quirky
Ah, mince pies – the little pockets of Christmas magic that sneak into your hand before dinner even starts. Traditional mince pies are stuffed with mincemeat, which, confusingly, isn’t really meat anymore. Instead, it’s a sweet, spiced concoction of dried fruits, citrus peel, and sometimes a cheeky splash of brandy. Wrapped in buttery, crumbly pastry, they’re basically edible festive hugs.
But who says mince pies have to stick to tradition? Modern bakers have been shaking things up with all sorts of quirky twists:
● Chocolate Mince Pies –because who says Christmas can’t be fudgy?
● Apple and Cinnamon –a fruity, cozy upgrade for extra snug vibes.
● Gingerbread Glam –spicing up the pastry for maximum festive swagger.
● Zesty Citrus –giving the sweet filling a tangy, zingy kick.
● Vegan or Nut-Free –festive inclusivity for everyone without sacrificing flavour.
These variations make mince pies fun, fresh, and Instagram-worthy – though eating them is way more satisfying than posting.
BONUS TIP:
Swap in chocolate chunks, a splash of orange zest, or a sprinkle of cinnamon on top for instant “ooh, fancy!” vibes.
QUIRKY MINCE PIE TRAYBAKE
(Serves 6–8)
Ingredients:
● 200g plain flour
● 100g cold butter, cubed
● 2-3 tbsp cold water
● 250g mincemeat (classic or chocolatey for extra fun)
● 1 egg, beaten (for that golden glow)
● Optional: icing sugar for a snow-dusted finish
Method:
1. Make the pastry: Rub butter into the flour until it looks like breadcrumbs. Sprinkle in cold water bit by bit until it comes together in a doughy hug. Chill 15 minutes.
2. Line the tray: Grab a 20x20cm (8-inch) tray, line with parchment, and roll out two-thirds of the pastry to cover it. This is your cozy base.
3. Spread the magic: Spoon mincemeat evenly across the pastry. Warning: the aroma may cause festive swooning.
4. Top it off: Roll out the remaining pastry and cut strips to make a playful lattice. Press edges gently. Bonus points if it looks like a Christmas star.
5. Bake it golden: Brush with beaten egg, pop into a 180°C (350°F) oven, and bake 25–30 minutes until golden and glorious.
6. Cool and slice: Let it rest (if you can resist), then cut into squares. Dust with icing sugar for snow-kissed charm.
MINCE PIE COCKTAILS –CHRISTMAS IN A GLASS
If mince pies are the edible hug of the holiday season, mince pie cocktails are… well, the hug with a mischievous wink and a little sparkle. Imagine all the cozy, spicy, fruity flavours of a traditional mince pie – without the crumb mess on your jumper – and now picture them in liquid form. Yes, it’s basically Christmas in a glass, and it might just make you sing carols louder than usual.
Mince pie cocktails take the classic mincemeat ingredients – dried fruits, cinnamon, nutmeg, a splash of brandy – and give them a grown-up makeover. One popular approach is the “Mincemeat Martini”, where mincemeat gets blended with vodka or brandy, a dash of orange liqueur, and a little cream for silky richness. Shake, strain, and garnish with a cinnamon stick, and you’ve got yourself a drink that screams festive indulgence without the awkward pastry crumbs.
For those who like bubbles, a “Sparkling Mince Pie” works wonders. Think Prosecco or Champagne with a spoonful of spiced mincemeat and a twist of orange peel. It’s fizzy, fruity, and fancy – basically your Christmas party personality in liquid form.
If you’re feeling extra cozy, a “Hot Mince Pie Toddy” is the way to go. Warm up brandy, apple juice, a little mincemeat, and a pinch of cinnamon. Serve steaming, preferably next to a roaring fire or at least a glowing laptop screen pretending to be a fireplace. Sip, sigh, repeat – instant festive bliss.
And let’s not forget the show-stopper: the “Mince Pie Milkshake Cocktail”. Vanilla ice cream, a spoonful of mincemeat, bourbon or dark rum, and a sprinkle of nutmeg. Blend until smooth and pour into a glass so decadent it practically demands a Santa hat as garnish.
The beauty of mince pie cocktails is they’re flexible: more booze, less booze, creamy, fizzy, warm, or chilled – you name it, they’ve got a festive personality for you. Just remember: they taste like Christmas, but they pack a punch, so pace yourself unless you want to end up under the mistletoe singing carols solo.
In short, mince pie cocktails are the holiday mischief you can sip, share, and Instagram without worrying about pastry crumbs in your hair. They’re merry, they’re spicy, and yes – they might just make you feel like Santa’s cheekiest helper.
BONUS TIP:
For a sweeter, dessert-style martini, add a tiny drizzle of honeyor maple syrup. Want it extra indulgent? Rim the glass with crushed gingerbread cookies or cinnamon sugar.
THE MINCEMEAT MARTINI
The Mincemeat Martini is basically a festive cocktail in a glass – rich, spiced, and cheeky
Ingredients (makes 1 cocktail):
● 30ml vodka (or gin if you like a slightly herbal kick)
● 20ml brandy or dark rum
● 30ml sweetened mincemeat (store-bought works perfectly)
● 15ml orange liqueur (Cointreau or Triple Sec)
● 15ml double cream (optional, for a creamy version)
● Ice cubes
● Garnish: cinnamon stick, star anise, or a twist of orange peel
Method:
1. Chill your glass: Pop your martini glass in the freezer for a few minutes – it’s all about presentation and keeping things frosty.
2. Mix the magic: In a cocktail shaker, combine vodka, brandy (or rum), mincemeat, orange liqueur, and cream if you’re going creamy.
3. Shake it up: Add ice, close the shaker, and give it a vigorous shake for about 15–20 seconds. Think of it as giving the Christmas spirits a merry workout.
4. Strain and serve: Strain into your chilled martini glass. If you prefer tiny mincemeat bits floating, pour directly without straining – it’s rustic and festive!
5. Garnish: Add a cinnamon stick, a star anise, or a twist of orange peel. Optional sprinkle of nutmeg for extra holiday sparkle.
This drink tastes like Christmas in a glass: spiced, boozy, fruity, and ready to put you in the festive mood faster than a Christmas playlist. Just sip slowly – you don’t want to end up hugging the tree before dinner.
FOOD, FUN & FESTIVE CHEER!
Nestled in the heart of the historic market town of Knutsford, Cheshire, the Market Hall has been a local institution since its construction in 1964. Originally built to provide a central, indoor marketplace for local independent traders, the hall has retained its character of small-scale entrepreneurship and community focus across the decades.
In recent years, the building has undergone a major transformation. Plans for refurbishment were first reported in late 2024, with the council approving a £200,000 upgrade – part-funded by the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund – to modernise and revitalise the venue. Work began in 2025, and the hall reopened on 10 May after removing the suspended ceiling, levelling the floor, installing a kitchenette, upgraded accessible toilets, and new stall structures. The redesign also introduced a flexible central zone dedicated to pop-up traders and community events.
Today, the Market Hall buzzes with a vibrant mix of established and new businesses. The Market Café has become the social hub, offering breakfasts, light meals, and event bookings, while Polka Bakery tempts visitors with artisan breads and pastries. Thai
Kitchen serves freshly prepared Thai meals, and Cheshire Party Store specialises in balloons and party supplies. York & Co., the organic greengrocer, supports local farms, and long-standing favourites such as the Butcher & Deli, the Barbershop, and mobile phone repair stalls continue to welcome loyal customers. The combination of new ventures and familiar faces gives the hall a unique, communityfocused charm.
A festive highlight in the calendar is the “Breakfast with Santa” event. On Saturday 6 December 2025, children can enjoy pancakes or waffles with fruit, yoghurt, and honey, accompanied by a drink and a small gift from Father Christmas. The Market Café offers two sittings at 9:30 am and 11:00 am, and tickets cost £15 per child, available for purchase in person at the hall.
The newly refurbished Market Hall stands as a bright, welcoming venue where independent traders thrive, festive events bring families together, and community spirit continues to flourish.

Opening times: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, & Saturday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, with additional openings on Makers Market Sundays & during the Christmas Market weekend.
CHESHIRE SOLAR SERVICES
HELPING CHESHIRE GO GREEN!
Knutsford Council and Cheshire Solar Services Power Up Market Hall with Solar Upgrade.
Knutsford Market Hall has taken a major step towards sustainability thanks to a partnership between Knutsford Town Council and local business Cheshire Solar Services. A state-of-the-art solar panel system with battery storage has been installed on the roof of the 60-year-old building on Silk Mill Street, helping reduce electricity costs and improve energy efficiency.
The project marks the completion of the second phase of investment in the historic Market Hall, following a £200,000 refurbishment earlier this year. The latest works cost £90,000 and were funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, administered by Cheshire East Council.
Adam Keppel-Green, town clerk of Knutsford Town Council, said: “These works deliver a major sustainability upgrade, helping retain heat in winter, reduce heat gain in summer, and generate part of the building’s electricity. Even in October, the
solar system produced around 10 per cent of our daily energy usage.”
The Market Hall had experienced overheating during summer months, prompting the council to explore additional measures such as fixed air conditioning and ventilation to prevent future issues.
Local firm Cheshire Roof Repairs and its sister company Cheshire Solar Services carried out the renovation. The project included installing a new flat roof, replacing single-glazed skylights with double-glazed tinted units, and adding insulation to improve thermal performance. The solar system is expected to significantly reduce grid electricity consumption, saving the council money while supporting the environment.
Adam Wilkinson, director of Cheshire Roof Repairs, said: “We were proud to work on this project. Our teams handled scaffolding, roofing, and solar installation, sourcing most materials locally through Cheshire Building Plastics.
It’s a full-service, locally coordinated effort that benefits the community.”
The Market Hall now hosts eight traders, including an organic greengrocer, a local butcher, a bakery, and a vinyl records shop. A new central open space allows for pop-up traders and community events such as birthday parties, fundraising activities, and daylight discos, creating a vibrant hub for residents.
This project highlights the impact of local collaboration. By partnering with Cheshire Solar Services, Knutsford Town Council has not only upgraded the Market Hall’s energy efficiency but also supported local business, reduced running costs, and created a sustainable model for community-focused improvements.
SOARING AMBITION GAUNTLET BIRDS OF PREY & GARY JONES
Nestled on Manchester Road just outside the heart of Knutsford, Gauntlet Birds of Prey –Eagle & Vulture Park is a truly innovative wildlife attraction and conservation centre. Since its founding in 1996, this family-run park has grown into the largest birds-of-prey collection in North West England, housing more than 180 birds from over 50 species, including eagles, falcons, vultures, owls, and more exotic inhabitants like marabou storks and seriema.
The centre is more than just a spectacle –it’s deeply rooted in education and conservation. It is one of only a few UK bird-of-prey centres that is a member of BIAZA (British & Irish Association of Zoos & Aquariums). Throughout the year, visitors can attend flying displays (including a spectacular finale), a “Vulture Restaurant Talk” where keepers discuss vulture ecology, and “Meet & Greet” sessions with birds and even some of the park’s furrier residents like meerkats and polecats.
The park not only entertains, but actively engages in conservation via its own Gauntlet Conservation Trust, supporting projects both in the UK and abroad. Their educational outreach is strong: handlers visit schools with some of the birds to teach children about raptor ecology, and events like the “Young Falconer’s Club” help foster the next generation of nature stewards.
Through the Lens:
Gary Jones Wildlife Photography
One of the most inspired collaborations at Gauntlet is with Gary Jones, a wildlife photographer whose passion lies especially in birds of prey. Together, Gauntlet and Gary run bird-of-prey photography workshops at the park, giving photographers – from enthusiastic amateurs to advanced hobbyists – a rare chance to shoot a variety of species in naturalistic and carefully crafted settings.
These days are hands-on. In the mornings, participants photograph birds in static, photogenic setups around Gauntlet’s rustic pond and meadow areas; in the afternoon, they capture birds in flight against natural backdrops. Some specialist days even focus on species like goshawks and golden eagles, including in-flight sequences and feeding –all with minimal or no equipment on the birds, to preserve a wild appearance.
Gary (whose workshops are small-group, intimate affairs) brings not only expert photographic insight but also a deep respect for the birds. Attendees regularly praise his patience, dedication, and the quality of images they go home with.
Why This Matters for Knutsford & the Golden Triangle
● Local Innovation: Gauntlet is a standout attraction just minutes from the centre of Knutsford – it’s not your average zoo, but a conservation-led, education-rich, interactive wildlife park.
● Cultural & Educational Hub: Whether locals bring family, or photographers attend workshops, the park enriches the community by raising awareness of species that are often misunderstood, like vultures.
● Sustainable Attraction: Putting on talks, flying displays, and supporting a charity trust gives Gauntlet a mission that goes far beyond entertainment.
● Photographic Destination: For residents of the Golden Triangle or visitors, Gary Jones’s workshops offer a creative and deeply immersive way to engage with nature. It’s a rare opportunity
to photograph eagles, owls, vultures, and more – all while learning from a seasoned wildlife photographer.
● Event Potential: With signature events like “Owls by Moonlight” (a magical nocturnal flying display) and Vulture Fest, a charity event to raise funds for vulture conservation, the park is very much a living, evolving part of Knutsford’s cultural landscape.
Gauntlet Birds of Prey is a jewel in our region’s wildlife offering – educational, conservationfocused, and beautifully accessible. Pair it with Gary Jones’s photography workshops, and you’ve got an inspiring combination of art, nature, and community that reflects the spirit of Knutsford and the Golden Triangle.

THE MAGIC OF SEVEN!
You’ve heard of the Twelve Days of Christmas, right? That classic carol that goes on forever about lords a-leaping, maids a-milking, and a partridge that probably regrets ever getting in that pear tree. Well, the “7 Gifts of Christmas” idea is like that – but trimmed down for modern life.
Because let’s be honest: no one needs twelve drummers drumming in their living room. Seven is plenty. It’s a simpler, more thoughtful way to give gifts that actually mean something instead of scrambling for random stuff on December 24th.
The concept is simple: instead of one big expensive gift or a pile of random items, you give seven smaller, themed gifts. You can spread them out over a week – one each day leading up to Christmas – or just bundle them together for a big surprise under the tree. Either way, it feels intentional and fun, and it gives you an excuse to be creative instead of just panic-buying a candle and hoping for the best.
Now, people have come up with different takes on what the seven gifts should be. The most popular version follows the “something to wear, something to read, something you want, something you need” rhyme that parents everywhere swear by. But for the
seven-gift version, you stretch it out a bit.
So, you might give something to wear (hello, cozy socks or that sweater they’ve been hinting about), something to read (a great book or a funny magazine), something you want (that one slightly indulgent item that’s been sitting in their online cart for months), and something you need (because yes, toothpaste and power banks do count).
Then you add a few more for fun: something to eat, something to do, and something to share. “Something to eat” could be anything from fancy chocolates to a late-night pizza voucher. “Something to do” might be a puzzle, movie tickets, or even a new hobby kit for when the post-holiday boredom sets in. And “something to share” could be a board game, a photo album, or even a blanket for snuggling during your inevitable Christmas movie marathon. It’s all about mixing meaning with a dash of fun.
Of course, some people like to take a more spiritual or sentimental route with this idea. For them, the seven gifts represent virtues – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness. Each day leading up to Christmas, they focus on one, maybe doing a little act of kindness or writing a note of gratitude. It’s less about wrapping paper and more about wrapping your heart around what the season’s really about. Sweet, right?
But whether you go the thoughtful-virtue route or the seven-mini-presents route, the whole point of the “7 Gifts of Christmas” is to make giving –and receiving – more personal. It takes the pressure off finding one “perfect” present and turns the experience into something fun and meaningful. Plus, it keeps your wallet from bursting into flames.
And here’s where it really shines – when you do it for kids. Kids absolutely love the idea of getting a little surprise every day leading up to Christmas
(because who wouldn’t?). You can make it magical by wrapping each gift in numbered paper, turning it into a mini countdown. The gifts don’t have to be expensive – think new crayons, a Christmas book, hot cocoa mix, fuzzy slippers, or a small toy. You could even sneak in a “coupon” for a movie night or baking cookies together. It teaches them that gifts don’t have to be huge to be special, and that experiences can be just as exciting as toys. Plus, you’ll stretch out the Christmas joy beyond one chaotic morning of shredded wrapping paper and sugar-fueled energy.
So this year, skip the shopping stress, embrace the magic of seven, and maybe throw in a partridge just for tradition’s sake. After all, who says Christmas can’t be a little practical, a little heartfelt, and a little hilarious all at once?

So grab a mince pie, get cozy, and let’s unwrap the best Christmas gadgets of 2025.

Sleeker, smarter, and more comfortable than ever, these little white wonders now come with adaptive audio that automatically adjusts sound levels depending on your environment – whether you’re walking down Oxford Street or sitting by the fire pretending you can’t hear the in-laws.

What sets it apart this year? Garmin’s upgraded AI-based health insights. It doesn’t just collect data — it actually interprets it. Think of it as your personal wellness coach, gently telling you to drink more water or maybe chill out on that third slice of Christmas pudding. ...If your recipient prefers their music loud and social, check out the JBL Charge 6 portable speaker (£99.99) This chunky yet chic Bluetooth speaker is basically the life of any party –waterproof, durable, and capable of turning a quiet evening into an impromptu disco. Bonus: it doubles as a power bank, so you can charge your phone while belting out Mariah Carey for the fiftieth time.

The Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 2 (£14.32) is a minimalist little marvel that helps you find lost items through your phone. Who knew the best gifts could be the ones that help you keep track of your other gifts?
For the Creators & Streamers: Level Up Your Desk Setup
Let’s be honest: everyone’s either a creator or knows one. Whether they’re streaming, podcasting, or just want a desk setup that screams “I have 12 followers but big dreams,” the Elgato Stream Deck MK.2 (£125.99) is the perfect pick.
This slick little gadget features programmable buttons that let you control apps, lighting, sound effects, and even memes with a single tap. For those who’d rather stay in and vibe, there’s a wave of wellness gadgets that combine relaxation with a bit of visual magic.

It keeps your drinks cold, your snacks handy, and your inner geek extremely happy. For fans, it’s the kind of quirky collectible that’ll make their desk or dorm room twice as fun.
Trend Talk: The Big Christmas Gadget Themes of 2025
If you’ve noticed a pattern, you’re not wrong — 2025’s gadget trends aren’t just about having the newest toy. They’re about making life smarter, easier, and a little more delightful.
Here are the three big themes to watch:
1. Smart Meets Subtle: Gadgets that blend into daily life, like trackers and AI-powered health devices, are replacing loud, overcomplicated tech.
2. Social & Shareable: Products that look good on TikTok or make everyday moments more “postworthy” – think sleek designs, glowing effects, and little wow-factor details.
3. Wellness & Meaning: Even the most high-tech gadgets now come with a side of mindfulness –humidifiers, smart sleep trackers, and ergonomic gear are topping wish lists.
And yes, sustainability is still on everyone’s radar. Expect packaging made from recycled materials and devices built to last (a Christmas miracle in itself).
The Verdict: Gifts That Keep on Giving
From £8 to nearly £400, this year’s gadgets span every budget and personality. Want to impress someone who’s impossible to buy for? Go smart and personal. Looking for a fun surprise? Go quirky and conversation-worthy. The trick is to find that sweet spot where tech meets personality – where your gift says, “I saw this and thought, yep, that’s so you.” So as the Christmas playlists start up and shopping carts fill, remember: gadgets aren’t just about the gizmos and specs. They’re about giving a little joy, a little sparkle, and maybe – just maybe – helping someone finally find their lost keys.
Merry Tech-mas, everyone!
NATURALLY FESTIVE
Creating natural decorations is a brilliant way to make your Christmas a little greener. It’s also a lot of fun that the whole family can enjoy. Find out how to make orange slice decorations with cloves that smell incredibly festive and will add a traditional feel to your tree.
What you’ll need:
Oranges, cloves, ribbon or twine, scissors, a knife, chopping board, and an oven.
Method
Begin by slicing the oranges widthways into rounds about 1 cm thick. The number of oranges you use will depend on how many decorations you want to make, but three to four oranges is usually enough for a tree. Lay each slice flat on a chopping board or baking tray and decorate with cloves. Push the cloves into the flesh so the star-shaped tops face outward. You can arrange them in a simple ring around the edge or create your own patterns or initials.
Next, make a small hole near the top of each slice; this will hold the ribbon or twine once the slices are
dried. Place the slices design-side up in the oven at the lowest heat setting, around 65 °C, and dry them for about four hours. Using a wire rack speeds up the process, but baking parchment on a tray works well too.
Once dried, remove the oranges from the oven and allow them to cool. They may feel slightly tacky at first but will continue to dry on the tree. Thread ribbon or twine through the hole, tie securely, and hang your fragrant decorations.
Have a Happy & Beautifully Scented Christmas!
EVERGREEN ELEGANCE
CHRISTMAS COLOUR OF THE MONTH
As winter whispers its arrival and twinkling lights begin to shimmer across festive streets, one colour quietly claims the spotlight this season: evergreen. Deep, luxurious, and timeless, evergreen embodies the enduring spirit of Christmas – its elegance, warmth, and sense of continuity. More than a shade, it is a celebration of nature’s beauty, a nod to tradition, and a canvas upon which the magic of the season unfolds.
Evergreen conjures the image of fir and pine boughs dusted with frost, holly leaves gleaming against candlelight, and the enduring greenery of winter gardens. Its refined depth distinguishes it from the more exuberant reds and sparkling golds often associated with the season. Evergreen is understated yet commanding, offering a sophisticated counterpoint to the glitter and glamour of festive décor.
In the home, evergreen transforms interiors with a sense of calm and luxury. Imagine a drawing room adorned with velvet cushions in deep forest green, paired with burnished brass candle holders, delicate glass baubles, and the soft glow of fairy lights. The effect is both inviting and sumptuous – a perfect retreat for winter evenings, intimate gatherings, or festive entertaining. Layered with textures such
as rich wood, brushed metals, and natural pinecones, evergreen infuses a space with harmony and refinement.
Fashion, too, embraces this sumptuous hue. A tailored emerald coat or a flowing velvet gown in deep green conveys understated sophistication, while subtle accessories – gloves, scarves, or leather handbags – allow evergreen to punctuate a winter wardrobe with quiet elegance. When paired with metallic accents, particularly gold or champagne, the result is a look both festive and impeccably stylish, perfect for holiday soirées or elegant gatherings.
Evergreen’s elegance extends effortlessly to gifting and table décor. Wrapping presents in rich green paper, finished with satin ribbons and sprigs of holly, elevates even the simplest gift. Table settings echo the theme with deep green runners, polished cutlery, and candleholders that reflect a gentle, ambient glow. Evergreen’s versatility allows it to pair seamlessly with creams,
ivory, and metallics, creating an atmosphere that is simultaneously classic and contemporary.
Beyond its aesthetic appeal, evergreen carries profound symbolism. It evokes endurance, hope, and renewal – qualities intimately tied to the season. In wreaths, centrepieces, and Christmas trees, its lush depth serves as a reminder of nature’s persistence through the cold months, mirroring the warmth and continuity of family, friendship, and festive tradition.
Even the culinary arts celebrate evergreen’s charm. Think pistachio desserts, matcha-infused treats, or cocktails garnished with rosemary or mint sprigs. This rich, natural hue transcends the visual, inspiring flavours and scents that enhance the season’s sensory pleasures.
This December, let evergreen guide your festive choices with grace. Whether in interiors, fashion, gifting, or entertaining, it is a colour that radiates sophistication while remaining deeply rooted in the spirit of Christmas. Evergreen is not merely a hue –it is an experience, a symbol, and the embodiment of a classic, elegant holiday season.
Evergreen: timeless, refined, and eternally festive.
THE EVERGREEN ADVANTAGE
AND WHY PRESENTATION MATTERS
MOST AT CHRISTMAS AND BEYOND
There’s something magical about this time of year. The scent of pine needles lingering in the hallway, the soft glow of fairy lights reflecting in glass and the comforting hum of celebration drifting from room to room. Homes, naturally, become the heart of the season; dressed in their finest, welcoming guests with warmth and sparkle.
Yet as the evergreen garlands go up, so too does interest in the property market. While many assume the festive period is quiet, estate agents and online portals tell a different story. Boxing Day consistently records one of the highest spikes in property searches of the entire year, as families, relaxed and inspired, gather around screens and begin imagining new chapters.
For homeowners considering selling, this moment presents a unique advantage. With the right presentation, your property can rise above the flood of new listings; shining like a star atop the Christmas tree.
Creating moments buyers can feel
A beautifully staged home doesn’t just look appealing; it feels inviting. Buyers form emotional impressions instantly, picturing future Christmases; stockings lined along the mantel, a tree perfectly framed by the lounge window, or a table set for a festive feast. When staging is thoughtful, it showcases not only space, but lifestyle potential.
SELLING THIS WINTER?
HERE’S YOUR CHECKLIST
✓ Book a pre-Boxing Day staging consultation, beating the surge and entering the market beautifully prepared.
✓ Refresh high-impact rooms by focusing on living spaces, kitchens and the primary bedroom.
✓ Prioritise flow and light as buyers crave calm, effortless movement.
✓ Highlight cosy, seasonal features such as fireplaces, reading nooks and dining zones which perform exceptionally at this time of year.
✓ Invest in professional staging. A small spend now can prevent costly price reductions later.
Cluttered rooms, heavy décor or distracting personal touches can distort proportions and overwhelm. In contrast, elegant, restrained
styling draws the eye to architectural strengths. It lets buyers breathe, settle, imagine.
The first impression starts online
With more than 95% of searches beginning digitally, the first viewing is often through a lens; not a doorway. On Boxing Day, those browsing sessions happen between helpings of pudding and re-runs of classic films. Your listing has only seconds to spark interest.
Professionally staged properties photograph beautifully, standing out amongst the scroll. Clean lines, harmonious textures and clear focal points translate powerfully to screen, enticing buyers to click, enquire and book viewings. The beauty of staging is that it’s evergreen; its value doesn’t fade with the decorations.
Regardless of economic tides, staged homes: attract more offers, sell faster, spend fewer days on the market, resist the downward slide of price reductions and a modest investment now can protect equity and unlock a premium return later.
Support for a standout season
As we exchange gifts and gather with loved ones, the market quietly warms beneath the frosty air. Preparing your property now means joining the Boxing Day surge fully dressed, ready to impress, and positioned for optimal return.
Harrison Home Staging specialises in transforming empty and occupied homes into their most compelling versions; elevating value, improving flow and refining visual appeal. Whether you’re selling soon or setting intentions for the New Year, expert guidance can make all the difference.
Because no matter the season and no matter the trend, one truth remains beautifully evergreen: a perfectly presented home will always steal the spotlight.

CHRISTMAS IN CHESHIRE’S NATIONAL TRUST GARDENS
Twinkling, Frosty & Totally Magical!
If you think Christmas is all about frantic shopping and dodging parking tickets, think again. Cheshire’s National Trust gardens turn the festive season into a glittering, frosty wonderland –the kind where you can drink mulled wine without judgment, take pictures of every twinkling light, and pretend you’re the hero in a Jane Austen Christmas special.
Dunham Massey – where winter magic meets Instagram gold
Dunham Massey is basically a Christmas Instagram filter in real life. As you stroll through the park, deer look at you as if to say, “You think you’re fancy with your mulled wine, but we’ve been fabulous all year.”
Trees sparkle, pathways glow, and giant baubles dangle like they fell straight out of Santa’s workshop.
The house itself is decked out in Victorianstyle decorations — think garlands so thick they could double as jump ropes, and wreaths so perfect you’ll swear the elves were on overtime. Families wander through the halls with hot chocolate, marshmallow mustaches optional but encouraged. It’s all so magical, you half-expect the Stamford family ghosts to pop out and critique your taste in Christmas jumpers.
Tatton
Park – The Christmas showstopper
Tatton Park is the place to go if you want Christmas with a side of “wow.” The mansion changes themes every year, from The Nutcracker to Dickensian Christmases, so you can feel cultured while pretending you understand ballet or Victorian social hierarchies.
Walton Gardens
Outside, the gardens are a winter fairyland. Frost sparkles on hedges, ponds reflect twinkling lights, and if you listen closely, you might hear the hedgehogs gossiping about who has the best festive decorations. Kids (and adults who are kids at heart) can visit Santa in his grotto, make wreaths, and eat their body weight in mince pies. Meanwhile, the Italian Garden will quietly judge your lack of greenthumb skills from its frost-covered perfection.
Lyme Park – For those
who like their Christmas with a side of drama
Lyme Park has the kind of scenery that makes you dramatically throw your arms in the air and announce, “I was born to live in a Jane Austen novel!” The mansion overlooks rolling hills dusted with frost, and inside, rooms are decked out in candlelight and greenery so lavish it could make a Christmas tree feel insecure.
The Edwardian gardens offer the perfect excuse for a brisk winter walk, or, let’s be honest,
a power-struggle over who gets to take the next selfie. Hike up to The Cage for panoramic views and bragging rights over your friends who stayed home watching festive TV specials. Afterwards, the Timber Yard café awaits with mince pies and mulled wine –essential survival tools for surviving winter’s chill and your relatives’ festive banter.
Quarry Bank – Rustic Christmas Charm (With a Hint of History)
Quarry Bank is where history and Christmas collide like a snowball meets forehead. The mill itself
glows with lanterns, carol singers echo through the yard, and the Apprentice House is decked out like a 19th-century Christmas special. The gardens, though less formal than Dunham or Tatton, have a frosty, wild charm that feels like stepping into a cozy winter postcard.
Here, you can pretend you’re a Victorian mill worker celebrating Christmas without any Zoom calls or Wi-Fi complaints – and that, my friend, is true festive escapism.
Why Cheshire National Trust Gardens Are Basically Christmas Gold
Whether it’s Dunham Massey’s dazzling lights, Tatton Park’s grandeur, Lyme’s dramatic hills, or Quarry Bank’s rustic charm, Cheshire’s National Trust gardens are more than just places to look at trees and shrubs. They’re magical, hilarious, familyfriendly (and adult-friendly) escapes that let you walk, sip, snap, and laugh your way through December. So wrap up warm, put on your reindeer jumper, and prepare for the kind of Christmas joy that only comes from twinkling lights, frosted lawns, and just a little bit of festive chaos. Bonus points if you can convince a deer to pose for a selfie – but don’t blame us if it photobombs you.
Because in Cheshire at Christmas, the gardens don’t just sparkle… they sparkle with personality.

LIFE IN CHESHIRE’S GOLDEN TRIANGLE BY ABRIANNA
PRIESTLEY, AGE 9
When people talk about Cheshire’s Golden Triangle, they usually mention big houses, fancy cars, and very posh shops. But when you actually live here – especially in Wilmslow – it feels completely different. I should know, because I’ve lived here most of my life. I’m Abrianna, I’m nine years old, and I go to Wilmslow Prep School. To me, Wilmslow isn’t just somewhere people think is fancy. It’s my home, and it’s full of friendly faces, green spaces, and people who really care.
My Morning in Wilmslow
Most mornings, I walk to school with my mum. She manages TG Jones, so everywhere we go, someone seems to know her. People always stop to chat, which makes our walk longer, but I secretly like it because it feels like the whole town is one big family.
When we arrive at Wilmslow Prep, my best friends are usually waiting by the bench for me.. They make every day more fun, especially when we’re practising for plays, doing art projects, or sneaking extra giggles during assembly. Our school might be small, but that just means everyone knows each other— and the teachers even know our budgies’ names too. Mine are called Snowy and Cloud because they look like little pieces of the sky that learned how to chirp.
The Carrs –Our Giant Playground
After school, one of my favourite places in the world is The Carrs. It’s huge, green, and always full of dogs who look like they’re smiling. Quincy, my best friend
and I race across the grass, climb trees, and see who can balance longest on the fallen logs. The River Bollin sparkles when the sun hits it, and it always makes me feel calm. There’s also a group called Friends of the Carrs, and they help keep the
park looking beautiful. They plant things, tidy up, and make sure the wildlife has a safe home. I like knowing that people choose to help the park just because they love Wilmslow, and I want to do that when I’m older.
Market Days and Town Adventures
Wilmslow’s Artisan Market is like a giant treasure hunt. There are stalls with brownies, pies, candles, soaps, handmade gifts, and bread that smells like heaven. Everyone comes out to wander around, and you end up seeing almost the entire town. I think that’s what makes Wilmslow feel cosy: wherever you go, someone smiles at you.
Places I Love Around Town
Sometimes after school or on Saturdays, my mum takes me to a cafe like Smiths at the train station or Buzzy Bees for a treat, and on weekends, we sometimes go to the Rex Cinema. It’s small and cosy, and I love picking a comfy seat to watch the latest animated films. Other times, we visit the trampoline park in Handforth, which is like bouncing in a giant playground. I can jump higher than I ever thought, and we always end up laughing until our tummies hurt.
When I’m at home, I love gaming too. I play lots of different games, sometimes with my friend Eric who comes to visit. It’s fun exploring worlds that aren’t in Wilmslow, but I always love coming back to my real adventures around town.
Grown-Ups Doing Grown-Up Things
My grandma is the editor of this magazine (which is very cool), and she’s also the founder of Cheshire’s Golden Triangle Networking. She says it’s a group that helps business people make new connections – kind of like how school helps us make new friends.
The networking group meets at Browns in Wilmslow (where I love the hot chocolate), The Bridge in Prestbury, and The Lost and Found in Knutsford. Mum says it’s becoming a really exciting thing for local businesses. I imagine it’s like show and tell, but for adults.
A Home Filled With Nature
Another reason I love Wilmslow is because nature is everywhere. We have Lindow Common with its mysterious Black Lake, the leafy paths of the Bollin Valley, and woodlands that look magical in every season. Whenever my grandma and I walk there, we pretend we’re explorers discovering new kingdoms.
My Wilmslow
Some people think the Golden Triangle is all about glamour. But when you’re nine years old and actually
live here, what you really notice is kindness. You notice the markets, the helpers, the schools, the dogs, the parks, the families, and all the friendly faces you see again and again.
To me, Wilmslow isn’t perfect because it’s posh. It’s perfect because it’s home. A home with mums who stop to chat, grandmas who make magazines, best friends like Quincy and Eric… two very noisy budgies called Snowy and Cloud, adventures around town… and even the gaming worlds I explore from my bedroom.
AN ALL-ROUND EDUCATION
Choosing the right school for your child has to be one of the most important decisions a parent makes.
Located in the heart of Wilmslow, Wilmslow Preparatory School is a small, ambitious school, developing curious and creative minds. Every pupil is nurtured as an individual, encouraged and inspired to achieve their very best both in the classroom and beyond.
Small class sizes (fewer than 20 pupils), specialist teachers and dedicated, tailored teaching allow us to track each pupil’s progress in detail, and tailor that child’s learning accordingly; whether that be challenging them or providing additional support.
There are many things that make our school extra special – the warm welcome, family atmosphere and the fantastic attitude of everyone who works here, pupils and staff! These attributes underpin our excellent academic teaching and, of course a vibrant and well-rounded programme of sport and the arts, as well as a wide variety of extra-curricular activities; all delivered by an experienced and supportive staff team.
Well-rounded Pupils
We place emphasis on the arts, sports and charitable work, and provide opportunities for children to be involved in a wide range of exciting and creative opportunities. Within our superb pastoral care, pupils feel safe to challenge themselves and each other, ensuring that every child recognises their individuality and their own self-worth.
Arts Council Recognition
Wilmslow Preparatory School has achieved the Silver Artsmark award from Arts Council England. This is the culmination of a two-year project to embed arts, culture and creativity across the
whole curriculum. This recognition demonstrates how our pupils have access to a diverse cultural education and ongoing opportunities to be creative.
Happy Pupils, Happy Families
Our pupils leave us as capable and self-fulfilled individuals, with a love of learning and a strong moral purpose, having experienced the very best possible start to their young lives, you couldn’t really ask for more.
Come and see for yourself
Families are welcome to visit the school at any time for a tour. To book or find out more about Wilmslow Prep School, please call: 01625 524246, email admissions@wilmslowprep.co.uk or visit www.wilmslowprep.co.uk.

SENSATIONAL CHILDREN
Supporting children in our present technological environment has its challenges. Whilst we are impressed by the seamless interaction between children and technology, most adults are concerned about screentime, safety, meaningful human interactions and movement skills. These are just a few examples of concerns we have as adults looking to support children.
Alongside these concerns we are seeing an increase in child mental health needs which are impacting on school attendance and learning. We are seeing a significant number of children experiencing school avoidance and social anxiety. At W-S&T we strive to support children and young people achieve their goals and aspirations and develop into independent individuals. As Occupational Therapists we offer assessments
and interventions to support children and young people with neurodevelopmental needs. These include ADHD, Autism and Dyspraxia;. We also support children with neurological conditions such as cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury or genetic disorders.
Having worked in London and surrounding areas over the last 20 years we have now opened an office in the North to progress our newly
established Research and Development team. This team sees us partnering with manufacturers in the North to develop ‘sensational spaces’ for children and young people. Our team offers a wealth of experience in occupational therapy, engineering, technology and Artificial Intelligence. Our aim is to build sensory spaces to support the wellbeing of and development of children and young people.
CHRISTMAS TOY APPEAL
This December, the communities of Wilmslow, Alderley Edge, and Knutsford are coming together in the most heart-warming way – through several local Christmas toy appeals that give everyone the chance to brighten a child’s Christmas.
In Wilmslow and Alderley Edge, the Rotary Club is once again running its much-loved RotaToy appeal. Their volunteers deliver empty “shoeboxstyle” RotaToy boxes to local schools and nurseries, where families fill them with new and pre-loved toys. Each box is age-checked and then passed on to charities supporting vulnerable children, including those affected by domestic abuse. The Everybody Foundation / Everybody Health & Leisure is also getting involved – last year alone they donated more than £3,000 worth of toys to support the appeal. Alongside this, S&G Response in Wilmslow is running its own Christmas Appeal from 1st November to 14th December 2025. They’re collecting new toys and selection boxes
for The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust, as well as books for their “Books for Children” drive. Donations can be dropped off at S&G Response, St Ann’s Parade, 14 Alderley Road, Wilmslow (Mon-Fri, 7:45am - 5:30pm).
The team at Alderley Edge Dental
My CWA is also launching a major Christmas appeal, supporting local families affected by domestic abuse. This year, they’re asking for brand-new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages, as well as gifts for teens. Donations can be taken to their Cheshire support centres, and they even have an Amazon wish list for anyone who prefers to give online.
Over in Knutsford, the well-known Toy Appeal –supported by the Knutsford Beer Festival –is gearing up once again. Each year, volunteers wrap and sort tens of thousands of presents, packing them into festive “sacks” ready to be delivered to children across the North West. The appeal runs on both financial donations and toy contributions, with around 80% of its support coming from cash gifts and the remainder from physical donations at local drop-off points.
How you can help:
● Donate new toys to any of these wonderful appeals.
● Volunteer your time – the Knutsford Toy Appeal, for example, always needs more hands for wrapping and sorting.
● Give money if you can; cash gifts help organisers buy exactly what’s needed.
● Spread the word at your workplace, school, or community group and encourage others to set up collection points.
By joining forces across Wilmslow, Alderley Edge, and Knutsford, residents can help bring joy, comfort, and a little Christmas magic to children who need it most.
FUSION FESTIVE BURGERS
The Golden Triangle’s Tastiest Christmas Craze
If there’s one thing Cheshire’s Golden Triangle does better than anywhere else, it’s Christmas done in style – fairy lights twinkling on Alderley Edge, roaring fires in Wilmslow gastropubs, and the unmistakable hum of festive indulgence. But this year, the humble Christmas burger is getting a glamorous Golden Triangle makeover. Welcome to the world of Fusion Festive Burgers –where global flavours meet Cheshire chic, and the result is as Instagrammable as it is delicious. Think of it as your classic Christmas dinner in burger form – but with a luxurious twist that would make even Santa trade his mince pie for a bite. The idea behind fusion festive burgers is simple: take the familiar comfort of a burger, add festive favourites like cranberry sauce or roast turkey, then throw in a creative global influence – Korean,
Mexican, Indian, you name it – to give it a cosmopolitan edge worthy of a Wilmslow winter soirée.
Take, for example, the “Turkey Tikka Royale” – a showstopper you might find gracing the menu at a local boutique eatery. Imagine a juicy turkey breast patty marinated in warming tikka spices, topped with cranberry raita, and nestled in a golden brioche bun dusted with edible glitter. It’s festive, fiery, and fabulously fusion – perfect for pairing with a glass of Bollinger or, let’s be honest, a postshopping cocktail on London Road.
THE TURKEY TIKKA ROYALE BURGER
Ingredients:
● 1 lb ground turkey
● ½ cup tikka masala sauce divided
● ¼ cup fresh coriander chopped
● ½ tsp ground cumin
● 4 hamburger buns
Method:
● In a large bowl, add the turkey, 1/4 cup of the tikka masala sauce, cilantro, and cumin. Mix to combine all ingredients.
● Preheat the broiler to 500° F or the highest setting. Line a sheet pan with foil.
● Shape the meat into 4 burger patties and place on the prepared sheet pan. Cover evenly with remaining tikka masala sauce.
● Place under the broiler and let cook until burgers are cooked through; about 8-10 minutes.
● Remove from oven and let cool for 5-8 minutes before serving. Serve placed on your favorite hamburger buns topped with mayo and pickled red onions.
Or how about the “Merry Miso Burger” –a playful nod to Asian flavours with a sweet-savoury glaze that would make even Rudolph do a doubletake. Think miso-glazed beef, sesame slaw, and a drizzle of truffle mayo, all wrapped up like the ultimate Christmas gift. The flavour combination is bold yet balanced – much like a Cheshire Christmas party itself.
Fusion festive burgers aren’t just for the meat lovers, either. The Golden Triangle crowd knows their wellness, so the veggie versions are stealing the spotlight too. The “Beetroot Blitzen Burger” – a vibrant purple beet patty topped with whipped goat’s cheese, candied walnuts, and rocket – is as good for the soul as it is for the feed.
Or the “Nutcracker Vegan Delight,” which layers roasted chestnut and lentil patties with spiced cranberry chutney and vegan brie. It’s proof that plant-based can still mean indulgent.
Of course, presentation is everything –especially in Cheshire, where a festive table spread is a statement piece. Fusion burgers are designed to dazzle: glossy brioche buns, glimmers of gold leaf, and sides like rosemary fries or truffle-scented sprouts. (Yes, even sprouts can
be chic when served with parmesan dust and pancetta crumble.)
What makes these burgers extra special is how they bring people together. Whether it’s a family get-together in Prestbury, a girls’ night at Victors, or a post-football lunch at the Mucky Pup in Wilmslow, the fusion festive burger has become the social food of the season. It’s casual enough for a pub, but creative enough for fine dining –the perfect middle ground for the Cheshire crowd who love a bit of both.
And let’s face it – after a year of avocado toast and açai bowls, we all deserve something a bit more indulgent. A fusion festive burger is comfort food dressed up for the holidays: familiar, yet full of surprises. Each bite is a passport to somewhere new – whether that’s Japan, Morocco, or just the next table over at Browns.
So this Christmas, skip the same-old roast and grab something with a little more sparkle. The fusion festive burger isn’t just food – it’s a celebration of everything we love about the season: creativity, togetherness, and just the right amount of glitter.
Because if there’s one thing we know for sure in Cheshire’s Golden Triangle, it’s this: festive dining should always be fabulous – and a little bit extra.
WHY I CREATED CGT NETWORKING
AND WHY OUR COMMUNITY DESERVES IT
If there’s one thing I’ve learned after years of publishing Cheshire’s Golden Triangle Magazine, it’s that our local business community is bursting with talent, ideas, and energy. Yet, despite living and working in one of the most entrepreneurial parts of the country, I kept hearing the same thing from business owners across Wilmslow, Alderley Edge, Prestbury, Mobberley, and beyond:
“We need a better way to connect.” Not formal. Not forced. Not corporate or intimidating. Just something genuine, local, warm, and purposeful.
And that’s exactly why I created CGT Networking –a modern, inclusive networking group built for the community I know and love. With our very first event launching on 3rd December in Wilmslow, I wanted to share the story behind it, and what I hope it will become.
This Community Is My Home
My name is Jacqui Priestley, and if you know anything about me, you’ll know this: I am proudly, wholeheartedly a Wilmslow woman. My family lives here. My grandchildren go to school here.
My friends are here, my work is here, and my social life is rooted here. This isn’t just where I live. This is who I am.
So when I talk about supporting “our local community,” it isn’t a marketing phrase –it’s personal. I care deeply about the people who live and work in Cheshire’s Golden Triangle because they’re my neighbours, my readers, my advertisers, and in many cases, my friends.
And over the years, I’ve watched countless brilliant local business owners working hard, often in isolation, without a simple space to come together. It became clear that something needed to change.
A Vision for Something More Human
CGT Networking was born from a vision: to build a go-to community for local business owners and entrepreneurs who want meaningful connections, real opportunities, and a genuine sense of belonging.
But I didn’t want to create another rigid networking organisation with rules, targets, or exclusivity.
That world doesn’t appeal to everyone –it certainly doesn’t appeal to me.
So instead, CGT Networking is:
● welcoming
● warm
● inclusive
● local
● collaborative
● and refreshingly pressure-free
No membership fees. No locked-in commitments. No hidden extras.
Just a simple £25 for a meal, great company, and a room full of opportunity.
A Network That Moves With Our Community
Our first meetings are in Browns of Wilmslow on the 3rd Dec, The Bridge in Prestbury on the 5th and The Lost & Found in Knutsford on Dec 11th, but this is just the beginning. We already have plans for events across Alderley Edge, Mobberley, Handforth, and Mottram St. Andrew and other wonderful Golden Triangle spots.
I want these gatherings to feel relaxed yet purposeful – the kind of events where you walk in feeling welcome and walk out feeling energised.
For me, the magic of networking isn’t in the formalities; it’s in the conversations that happen
around the table, the introductions that spark unexpectedly, and the collaborations that grow quietly but powerfully.
Open to All – With No Pressure at All
I believe there’s more than enough opportunity in our community for every business owner to thrive. That’s why CGT Networking isn’t exclusive or restricted – all industries are welcome.
And let me say this very clearly: there are no attendance expectations whatsoever. Come when it suits you. Join us when you can. No guilt. No pressure.
We’re here to celebrate local life, build genuine connections, and strengthen the amazing business community we already have.
This Is Only the Beginning
I can already feel the momentum building, and I know 2026 will bring an exciting new wave of activity and opportunities for the Golden Triangle. CGT Networking started as an idea – a simple one – but it has quickly become something much more meaningful.
And I can’t wait to meet you.
