Brothers and Sisters,

As we enter the new year, I hope you all had a happy holiday season. I also want to thank you for all that we have accomplished together last year.
2022 was a big year for our union. Through it all, we have remained strong by standing up for each other and fighting for a public transportation system that works for everyone. Read more about this year's highlights on page 4.
Last fall, we made a difference in the lives of working families by helping elect pro-labor, protransit candidates across Massachusetts. We're especially proud to have supported Governor Maura Healey and State Auditor Diana DiZoglio – two strong leaders who value our union and the workers we represent. Learn more about our election victories on page 14.
Local 589 also held our own elections this year. I'm truly honored to continue serving as your president, and I'm excited to serve alongside the rest of our executive board. I know I speak for all our members when I say we will miss our three retiring board members tremendously: Pat Hogan, Brian Walsh, and John Clancy. Read more about these three men and catch up on our union election on pages 6 and 7.
As we turn up the thermostat and dig out our snow shovels, we want to thank everyone who joined us for two wonderful events when the weather was a lot warmer: our annual golf outing and our Family Fun Day. Enjoy some sunny photos from these events on pages 8-13. None of our success as a union would be possible without the hard work and dedication of you, our members. Thank you for everything you do to keep our communities moving forward. I hope you were able to take some time to rest, recharge, and spend quality time with your loved ones this holiday season. Happy New Year!
In solidarity,
Jim Evers President
