Greetings from the Editorial Desk
E di torial
Dear readers and contributors, On behalf of the Editorial Board member we are glad to welcome you to series of interesting essays, articles and stories representing the ideas of our students. The editorial board and staff editors dedicated a monumental amount of time and energy towards improving the journal, and their tireless efforts have made this year’s edition a great success. It has been exciting to see the annual magazine develop as it enters into its second year and continues to mature. This provides a creative and democratic platform for students, teachers, staff and the parents to voice their ideas, opinions and suggestions. Although it is less than two years since the Tibetan Homes School, Dekyiling has been handed over by Sambhota Tibetan School Administration, we can proudly announce that, It has undergone a rapid evolution to become an ambitious learning center. We are all aware of this deadly and infectious disease Corona Virus also known as Covid-19 which has deeply affected and shaken up the education sector around the world. This catastrophe at the same time taught us the lucrative side of online teaching and learning. With the help of online teaching modes, we were able to sermonize a large number of students in flexible and an efficient way, which result in online classes becoming the new normal. The whole education system got an opportunity to experience a new mode of learning. Hence, online Teaching was indeed dynamic, interesting, and interactive. To bring to your notice, Teachers have burned the midnight oil to ensure they impart knowledge in the most effective and engaging manner to their students. Above all, we would like to thank THF, mussoorie for their enormous support and all the teachers, students and staff of THS, Dekyiling for their tremendous efforts. We all are glad that this magazine 2020 has framed into a perfect combination of thoughts and activities with an objective of mind and heart. With regard

It is a great honored and privilege to be introduce myself as the school head captain of Tibetan Homes School,Dekyiling for the academic year 2020-21. It is a matter of pride to have been given the unique opportunity to render my services to the school. In my school journey, I have witnessed and experience wonders, which this institution does in truly nurturing an individual. I would like to thank my principal madam GenlaLobsang Dolma la for being such a wonderful principal, I also want to thank all the Respected Teachers who believed in my abilities and appointed me as the school head captain. School magazine provide a platform to create and express their own ideas in a good form and in different languages. I truly feel that we must endeavor in contributing our best towards the making of our school, exceedingly not only in studies but also through our participation on various school activities. This year pandemic has made 2020 stressful and struggle for everyone involved in education. Hand sanitizer and laptops have replaced backpacks. Covid-19 affect parents, teachers, students and communities. But our teachers worked really hard to provide education through virtualclasses to help in these difficult times. Apart from that they also counselling students to keep us engaged amidst during lockdown. I want to “thank you” from the bottom of my hearts to every teacher, in every school, who educate students during these challenging times. Lastly, I want all my friends to study well and make your school and parents proud. Thankyou. Sangay Norbu, VIII (School Boys Captain)
I feel a great pride being selected the head captain of our Tibetan Homes School, Dekyiling for the session 2020-21. But unfortunately, due to coronavirus had created a great pandemic throughout the year. I hope you all are good in health, taking necessary precautions and must be attending your daily virtual classes as well. This pandemic year had taught us great lesson of how our world has become so much interdependent with each other. During the challenging time I have realized that our school administration and teachers have come up with great preparation of how to tackle all these challenges so that we students can keep on continue with our education and learn a new way of doing things through the digital platform & yes, we have learned a lot. Hence, I really appreciate all the efforts of our great teachers and experience that this school has provided me. I am so grateful and thankful to all my teachers and friends who believed in my capabilities and trusted me enough. My friends always keep yourself motivated and have the courage to do something helpful for society. Deal anything with great patience and love. Through this message may my words will inspire you to see things differently even during the challenging period. I must thankyou all for being such a lovely fellow student. ‘The greatest leaders are not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. She/He is the one who have the courage to continuously help fellow people to do something better for society’. I only hope our future school captain should keep up the name of our school and raise it to the greater height. I am sure they will actively promote the school values at all times, specially by providing leadership qualities to the students’ body. Be a good role model for younger students. Lastly, I would like to advise my friends, to be a better person. Follow your dreams, but never forget where you came from. Make your teachers, parents, friends and communities proud of yourself. Most importantly make your country proud. Thank you and love you!
Kunga Tsedron ‘A’, VIII (School Girls Captain)
What I like most about my parents
My parents are the gift from God. I love everything about my father and mother. My father is the man of house and he works really hard. My mother is a house wife, that’s why we spend much time with each other. What I like the most about my mother is her efforts, which is to make me happy and feel special every day. My mother wakes up early in the morning and makes our favourite breakfast and every day she prays good health for us. My parents knows what I like. Therefore, they always make me happy. When I did good things or when I got good marks in studies, they gave me presents. My are the best because they always help me with my studies and problems. I will always give my best to make my parents happy and proud. When I grown up, I would love to be like my parents always.

Good Habits
There are so many types of people in this world. Some people having good habits and some are having bad, but the most important thing in our life is to be kind, honest, loving, caring and good human being as well. If we do good then others may learn and do the same but if do wrong then you can’t expect from others too. As a Tibetan we must respect elders and we should give care to younger one. Being good keeps happy everyone, as His holiness always says ‘We must be compassionate, kind hearted and give help to others. If we work on compassionate and kindness continuously then sooner or later it will become our habit, habit which our world truly needed, especially during these days. Lastly, I would like to conclude my writing by remembering you all that, the world is in the worst situation now days. Only kindness and compassionate within people can light up the condition. Cooking my Favou r ite food w ith my Father /Mother
The different skills of cooking is an art. If you are a great chief or cook then you can win anyone’s heart, because everyone in this world loves food. Food is the most important factor which works as a fuel to human body and also it gives joy to any family if they have enough food to share with each other on their dining table. When I was younger, I just love to help my father while making food. My father is a great cook. He knows how to cook food deliciously. I really love to taste my father’s tasty foods. Because of him I gradually started cooking. Therefore, I usually spend my leisure time in the kitchen by learning how to cook by following my father’s cooking methods i.e. cooking recipes. One day I told my father that, today I am going to make food for the family and I made it. Everyone in my family loved my food and praised me a lot. There appreciation gave me more motivation in learning different kinds of delicious food, also whenever I got any chance to help my parents in making food I never missed it. I really like to cook food the way I love to help my parents. Tenzin Wangmo, VI

My favou r ite stor y
Everyone have favourite story, even I have too. My mother told me so many stories but my favourite one is “The woodcutter and his axe”. In this story we can understand how honesty is important. I really liked the woodcutter most in the story because even though he was poor he never stop being honest and taught us to be honest. My mother always told me that never tell lie to anyone especially to the teachers and elders, always be honest. Therefore, I am trying my best to being honest girl. This is my favourite story and I am sure you all have a special one. My Favourite story gives advice and I really wanted to know about yours too.
