MAKE A SPLASH . . . SAFELY!
All things swimming and water safety at the YMCA . . .
When the weather starts to heat up, the pools, lakes, oceans, rivers, and other bodies of water start calling! While swimming can be an enjoyable summer activity, it is important to remind all parents and caregivers of the importance of water safety. Here’s five tips on how children can stay safe in and around the water:
Ensure children know to always ask permission before going in or near the water. 1 4
Supervise your children any time they’re in or near water.
Wear a life jacket if you are an inexperienced or non-swimmer. Never swim alone without a water watcher.
Don’t engage in breath holding activities.
SUMMER SWIM LESSONS
Swimming at the Y helps people thrive – in and out of the water. Swim Lessons provide the opportunity to set goals and achieve success, learn water safety and enjoy swimming as a form of exercise. We offer sessions all summer long for swimmers of all ages and abilities.
