FEES & FINANCE

Sorting out your finances whilst studying for your degree doesn’t need to feel overwhelming. Here’s the key information, kept simple, so you can focus on building your future at LMA.

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT FINANCE MADE SIMPLE

Most UK students can apply for:

• A Tuition Fee Loan to cover your course fees

• Maintenance loans to help with living costs are means-tested, so eligibility and amounts will depend on your personal circumstances. Using the Student Finance calculator can give an estimate, but it does not guarantee a loan.

Apply as early as you can, ideally before May in the year you are wishing to start your studies, to avoid delays. You can apply up to 9 months after the start date of your course.

Use the official Government Student Finance calculator to see what you’re entitled to: www.gov.UK/student-financecalculator

Student finance is available to full-time and part-time students who meet the eligibility rules for student finance. If you are eligible for a maintenance loan it will be paid directly into your bank account by the ‘Student Loans Company’ once you have enrolled and started attending your course, the loan is paid in three termly instalments.

To ensure we continue to invest in the student experience, tuition fees may rise each year of your course in line with the cap set by the government. The fee cap for September 2025 entry is set at £9,275. If the fee cap increases for the 2026/27 academic year, the tuition fee stated here will increase to the new cap. Fees are then subject to annual increases, these will not exceed the annual cap. For more information see our Terms and Conditions and Tuition Fee Policy. Both can be found on our policies website page www.lma.ac.uk/policies

Additional Costs: Students may need specific clothing, materials, or equipment, and could incur costs for tickets, projects, or other courserelated activities. We provide a ‘Before You Arrive’ list with recommended providers, including those offering special discounts. To help you plan for your studies, it’s worth knowing that these costs can vary depending on the projects or modules you choose.

FAQs

WHEN DO I START REPAYING MY LOAN?

You only start repaying once you’ve graduated and are earning over the repayment threshold (currently £25,000 per year for most students).

www.gov.UK/repaying-your-studentloan/what-you-pay

HOW MUCH WILL I REPAY?

Your repayments are based on what you earn, not what you owe. You only repay a percentage of your income above the threshold, not your whole salary. For example, if your repayment threshold is £25,000 and you earn £26,000 a year, you’ll only repay a percentage of the £1,000 above the threshold. That works out to just a few pounds a month. www.gov.UK/repaying-your-studentloan/what-you-pay

IS STUDENT FINANCE LIKE NORMAL DEBT?

Not at all. You won’t have to repay until you’re earning enough, and if your income drops below the threshold, your repayments stop. The degree, skills, and opportunities you gain at LMA will stay with you for life.

CAN I WORK WHILE STUDYING?

Yes. Many of our students take on parttime jobs. We recommend fewer than 20 hours per week so you can focus on your course. Local businesses often advertise roles through the LMA app, perfect for flexible work that fits around your studies.

POSTGRADUATE FUNDING AT A GLANCE

What funding is available: Funding is available through government postgraduate loans to help cover tuition fees and living costs.

More information: www.gov.UK/funding-forpostgraduate-study

ELIGIBILITY

Must be a UK national or have settled status.

More information: www.gov.UK/funding-forpostgraduate-study

REPAYMENT

Repayments start once your income is above a set threshold.

You will repay 6% of the income above that threshold. You only pay on what you earn above the threshold, not your total income.

Interest is applied, and repayments are taken automatically through the tax system. More information: www.ucas. com/postgraduate/fees-and-funding/ postgraduate-loans
