Team Loyalty!!

We hope that everyone had a great Labor day spending time with friends and family. We also want to thank each and every one of you for helping us get this nomination for one of the Best Places to Work in Sacramento, without our staff we wouldn’t be where we are today! Remember to turn in your ticket request forms as early as possible and don’t forget to turn in your guesses for the Who’s that baby now contest for a chance to win an 8-hour paid day off!!

Letter from the President

Hello Team Loyalty,

Wow, how time flies! Kids are heading back to school and summer is over. This is a great opportunity to sell laptops, music instruments and hopefully a few bikes. Mentioning how time flies may daughter Lauren has left for college after a month of emotions, I have finally accepted that it is now her time to shine and become the young woman I know she can be. I am so proud of her and hope you do not mind as I will give some updates of her experiences and growth. While she is on the other side of the country she is still an asset to Loyalty Pawn. Lauren puts together and creates content for our newsletters, manages our Golden 1 ticket requests and other corporate responsibilities. I feel really old having a daughter in college, ugh. I would also like to wish Lauren a Happy 19th Birthday on September 15th Love You Goose!

Some major victories for the month. Plans back and submitted to the city of Roseville (Yay, finally), we have a time line for the new exterior signage completion of all site surveys was completed August 28th, fabrication is scheduled for 8/30 through 9/14 and installation is set for 9/17 through 9/28. I was really hoping this to be done a while ago but am excited to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Some more exciting news Our Roseville and our West Sacramento locations are staffed and ready to open until 8:00 PM starting September 1, 2018 congratulations and Thank You for the hard work, patience and commitment to the new hours.

One more huge victory, on Friday August 24th our state association California Pawnbrokers Association (CAPA) got word from the Governor’s office that he signed our legislative bill AB1993. This bill reduces the hold time on buys from 30 days to 7 days. We also as an association have set an agenda for next year’s legislation to be a revenue enhancement which will allow us to charge a little more in fees to keep up with the states rapidly grown inflation. As one of the lowest interest income states in the nation a revenue increase would drastically help the financial viability in the state of California. I must not go without mentioning all of the support letters you sent back to me reached the Governor’s desk and always help influence our policy makes when they see support from are communities. We had over 26 submissions for support which was one of the highest number of letters of any pawnshop in the state of California. Thank You to everyone!!! We will be needing more of these letters next year keep an eye out.

Let’s keep the reviews up, and keep CRUSHING our sales and loan numbers and most importantly of all have a FUN and SAFE September

“We cannot walk alone.” ~ Martin Luther King Jr.

A Letter from the General Manager

Hello Loyalty Team,

Very excited to announce the new hours for West Sac and Roseville. This will be a tremendous opportunity to help drum up business. The expanded hours will keep us competitive and offer a great service to those customers who need our Loyal services after 6:00 pm. Please feel free to share the facebook extended hours with your friends and family!

We continue to build our teams and explore new business options by being engaged in our community. Part of the success in growth is we have and continue to develop strong teams. We welcome high talented individuals and continue to explore new training methods.

Some noteworthy accomplishments from August is Roseville had the most retail sales in the company as well as the largest loan growth for the whole month. Fantastic job Roseville!! The top salesman for the month was Parker Hush, 2nd place Jason Wagner and 3rd place Dominic Tognolini. This was a great month in sales as we surpassed July by $35,000. Many more month’s like this to come!!!

Lastly, we like to take some time to celebrate positive successes. Each store has hit milestones and has had reasons to celebrate. When was the last time you or your team was celebrated? We are open to ideas from our loyal team members to celebrate. What say you?? Please reach out to me with ideas to celebrate accomplishments. I would also like to hear how some of you may have been celebrated already. Let’s have a great September and keep it competitive!

Loyalty Pawn Family

Hello Loyalty family!

We have made huge strides to breed our Vision, Values and Goals and really practice what we preach. I have seen many changes in the last few months but none more than the spirit of our culture. As you all know Loyalty Pawn was recognized and nominated for being one of the best places to work in Sacramento. This is such a great accomplishment and we should all be proud, I know I am, so great job everyone! The Loyalty Pawn family is growing and it’s important to keep up with knowing each of the members of our family, not just occasionally speaking to them over the phone. One way to keep up with the growing family is that I will be going around conducting interviews with everyone and getting to know them on a personal level.

This month we are going to get to know Mark Xiong, the recently promoted store manager of the Florin location. Mark was born December 2, 1983, in Stockton California. Mark has been in the pawn industry for just over 7 years. His areas of expertise are fishing, camping and outdoor equipment. Mark has recently finished his course in GIA for jewelry diamond and colored stone essentials. In his personal life, Mark is the oldest sibling of 9. His hobbies consist of avid hiking, hunting, fishing, collecting guns and anything that has to do with the outdoors. His dream is to one day buy a bunch of land out in the middle of nowhere and become a hunting guide. He loves learning and teaching the art of primitive technology where nature provides all the resources you need to survive. As of now, he is passing down the knowledge to his son Ethan(10), who dreams to follow in dad's footsteps. His daughter Kayleen(13) also enjoys going out on hunting trips and known to be pretty good with a rifle. Family means everything to the Xiong’s, he is always finding new and exciting adventures to share with his loved ones. It could be as small as going to check out a waterfall called Eagle Falls in Lake Tahoe or traveling all the way to the Eiffel tower in France. It is easy to say if you’re looking for something exciting to do outdoors, call Mark. There has been one huge milestone for Mark and his wife of 14 years Aline they recently have crossed, after searching for about 3 months they have purchased their first house and is now working hard with their family to make it a home.

Mark was asked what he loved about working for Loyalty pawn his response was simple “everyday is always different and I have the opportunity to make a difference in the community by helping our clients”. He enjoys working for Loyalty Pawn because of the culture and it feels like a family dynamic with opportunity to better himself and grow within the company. One of his biggest struggles has been that in the last few years he hasn’t been able to bring a deer home but is not willing to give up. In the picture you see Mark in one of his many adventures with his family, this one he went out for a goose hunt in Hogan Lake.

Loyalty Pawn Employee Services Corner

Labor Day is right around the corner! Did you know that the observance and celebration of Labor Day was a street parade to exhibit to the public "the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations" of the community, followed by a festival for the recreation and amusement of workers and their families. This became the pattern for the celebrations of Labor Day. Speeches by prominent men and women were introduced later, as more emphasis was placed upon the economic and civic significance of the holiday. Still later, by a resolution of the American Federation of Labor convention of 1909, the Sunday preceding Labor Day was adopted as Labor Sunday and dedicated to the spiritual and educational aspects of the labor movement. *Source US Dept of Labor.

September Birthstone – A Very Blue Month! Sapphire, the birthstone of September, is most desired in its pure, rich blue color but is present in almost every color including pink, yellow and green. In the Middle Ages the gem was believed to protect those close to you from harm and also represented loyalty and trust. Loyalty? How appropriate!!

Fun Sapphire Folk Lore September’s birthstone, the sapphire, has been popular since the Middle Ages. Back then, the celestial blue color of this gem symbolized heaven and attracted divine favor and wise judgment. Greeks wore sapphire for guidance when seeking answers from the oracle. Buddhists believed it brought spiritual enlightenment, and Hindus used it during worship. Early Christian kings cherished sapphire’s powers of protection by using it in ecclesiastical rings. Famous star sapphires like the 1404.49-carat Star of Adam, the 563.4-carat Star of India and the 182-carat Star of Bombay came from Sri Lankan mines. Australia was a significant source of sapphires until deposits were discovered in Madagascar during the 1990s. Madagascar now leads the world in sapphire production. This gem became a symbol of royal love in 1981 when Britain’s Prince Charles gave Lady Diana a 12-carat blue sapphire engagement ring. Prince William later gave this ring to Catherine Middleton when he proposed in 2010. Aaaaawh…Today, top-quality blue sapphire remains one of Mother Nature's rarest gems. Happy birthday to our September Sapphire babies of Loyalty Pawn!

Who’s That Baby Now Interview.

Things you didn’t know about Stan J Lukowicz, CEO/Owner Loyalty Pawn, Inc.

Where did you grow up? Jackson, Ca until I was 10 and have been in Sacramento ever since

What did you want to be when you grew up? International Stockbroker

What thing(s) would you like to share with the team --(things about you) that most people don't know? I was bullied when I first moved to Sacramento and when I finally decided to stand up for myself. I got in a fight with the biggest guy in my class (I did not win). Got suspended for three days for starting a fight and when I got back to school the kid that beat me up asked what I did while I was grounded I told him I was grounded in my room for three days, what did you do? He said Movies, rode motorcycles and horses, shot guns, etc. He invited me over to his house the following weekend and we have been best friends ever since 7th grade.

What three adjectives best describe you and why? Loyal, dedicated, giving.

What is it about the pawn industry that keeps you in it? The people on both sides of the counter and my dedication to making a change in the industry

What is your favorite color? Blue (how appropriate is that considering this is September where the birthstone showcase is also blue!)

What is your favorite sport? Golf

What is your most memorable achievement-personally? I feel I am doing a good job as a father, it is definitely the most rewarding

What is your most memorable professional achievement? Going out on my own and with help, building Loyalty Pawn

What professional advice would you like to share with your workforce? In this industry we see all the scams there are, trust in yourself and remember we all make mistakes. I look at mistakes as a training tool and try to learn from all the mistakes I make. I have made plenty and will make more I try to not let them get me down. When/if I repeat a mistake, I become very hard myself.
