President’s Letter

Hello Team Loyalty,

November is here, unbelievable! That means the holiday season is here. What are your store goals? What in store holiday promotions and decorations are we planning? Do any stores need any specific inventory or help in preparing to have a successful holiday season? Can you or have you considered opening on Sundays (starting after Black Friday)? We purchased items at the California Pawnbrokers Association Expo. Those items will be dispersed once we receive and process them through Bravo. Fill up those showcases and display shelves, be sure to merchandise properly and start the sales competitions, within your location and amongst other locations. Let us have fun with this holiday season but also reach those stretch goals! Speak to your managers about inventory needs, let Wayne, Javier and Tony know of any inventory needs.

We had a wonderful time and had some amazing educational sessions at the CAPA (California Pawnbrokers Association) Convention that some of us attended in October. Are there any specific educational needs? If there is anything more, you would like to improve your skills at and it would be a benefit to the company and our team, let us know. We meet many industry leaders and educators at the conventions, and I would like to get our training sessions back on a consistent basis. We have the training facilities, and I would like to start utilizing them and making us better pawnbrokers and retailers. We can all learn together, and we can always learn more!

Finally, some of you may know already, I was appointed and took the position as CAPA President. I am truly honored to fill this position as CAPA has accomplished so much for our industry, avoiding burdensome regulation, small revenue increases allowing us to stay in business and stay competitive and enabling our industry to afford the cost of doing business in California and protecting our client's privacy and rights. In 2022 we passed a bill that would require us to report items only information to the Department of Justice CAPPS system. We are still required to obtain all client information as usual. There will be a new procedure for, when Law Enforcement comes into the store looking for a possible stolen item, that we will get to everyone when this new law becomes effective. I look forward to continuing to promote, enhance and protect the California Pawn brokering Industry, like many great leaders before me have. This will be great for me and great for Loyalty Pawn.

Happy Holidays,

Letter from the General Manager

Greetings Everyone,

Can everyone believe that November is already here? It feels like 2022 is going by too fast. The change in the weather is here. Our summer season felt like it went from blazingly hot to a week’s work of fall. Now, it’s time for heavy outdoor clothing! Where in the world has fall gone?

As always, I like to present the top salespeople for the month. In October, the firstplace salesperson was Dominic T. The second place goes to Paul M. and the third place goes to Mark X. Congratulations team! We are currently working on more jewelry for this holiday season and expect to have some items added to your inventory very soon. We’re eager to sell and move our inventory for the next two months. Before letting reasonable offers leave, let’s consult our management team to see if we can save the sale.

We’re nearing the holiday season and the sales are as important as ever. Please continue to push our layaways if a sale cannot be secured. We like to compare historically where we were and where we’re going to goal set. One year ago, our company’s layaway balance was 175K more than where it is today. The good news is many of those layaways have been picked up. The bad news is this lower balance will affect our future sales for the next 4 to 6 months. This can be corrected by offering if missing a sales opportunity. We look forward to seeing the layaway balance grow again.

Lastly, I thank those who participated in the Halloween holiday spirit. The stores were all decorated, and the teams had fun organizing like-minded Halloween attire. It is no secret that we all have plenty of work to do. It is refreshing to see many others celebrating and having fun while working. If you haven’t seen the pictures of the Broadway team, you should take a look!

Sincerely,

“Don’t watch the clock; do what it does. Keep going”. -Sam

Loyalty Pawn Family

Hi There, Loyalty Family!

First off, I'd like to congratulate Stan on his election as CAPA president. It was so awesome to be there for his inauguration and see him in action. It's clear from seeing him in action for so many years that I’ve worked for him that he's a born leader I can't wait to see what he does next! We're also seeing some big changes in the political climate right now. There's an election going on, and it looks like we might have some new people coming into power at the capital. What does this mean for us? Well, it means that we get to meet and greet our new elected officials and introduce them to our industry. We've already held a few of these meetings at the Broadway location, but we'll be hosting many more in the coming time. These meetings are great opportunities for us to work with our local politicians and get bills passed that will benefit us as pawn brokers. It would take up too much space in this chronical if I tried to explain everything we learned at the convention there were so many takeaways! But one of the vendors started a program called "Pawnshops for Parks" basically pawnbrokers are working together to give back even more to their communities. This program concentrates on only raising awareness and giving back to parks that are in bad shape. If anyone would like to know more information or would like to get involved, please reach out! This month we're going to get to know Stephanie Alfaro, who is new team member of the Florin Mall team!

8. Who would you want to be stranded with on a deserted island? I’d be stranded with my partner; he would be able to guide us and help us survive.

9. If you could go back in time, what year would you travel to and why? I’d travel back to the 80’s-90’s just to experience a different era and live through it.

Loyalty Pawn Families,

We are excited to see 2023 already. What is going on at Florin, well I wanted to introduce everyone to our new edition to Team Florin. Roseville

Hello Team Loyalty,

I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween this year! I don’t know about you, but it seemed to be a little bit slower this year. I only had a handful of tricker treaters come to my house and I bought way too much candy lol. I want to give a huge shout out to the Roseville team! We were able to take first place in store sales for the month of October! Great job Brittany Dom and Danni you killed it and I’m so proud of our team. I also want to give a shout out to eBay. Jason, for a one man show you did amazing for the month of October. Great job on and keep up the good work! #beatebay! Now the question is who’s going to be on top for the month of November? We have a huge sale of 30% off everything for our Black Friday all month-long sale and I cant wait to see how great all the stores do.

Justin Martinez

Broadway

Hello Team,

Broadway has been having a great time and getting work done. We have been listing tons of items on offer up and clearing our layaways. Calling customers to come pay on them, putting new ones down and putting those premium goods back out that haven’t been paid. We all dressed up for Halloween as the scooby doo gang and had a blast handed out candy and decorated the store. But now the real work comes down as Christmas is closing in on us we have a lot of work ahead of us but looking forward to it.

November Astronomy

The Full Beaver Moon

November’s full Moon is traditionally called the Beaver Moon. Why this name? In the Colonial Era, this was the month to set one’s beaver traps before the swamps froze and beavers retired to their lodges, to ensure a supply of warm winter furs.

In 2022, November’s full Moon occurs on Tuesday, November 8.

Thanksgiving Turkey

Option 1: The simplest roast turkey breast

While a traditional Thanksgiving feast may involve carving an entire turkey at the table, a simpler or more intimate Thanksgiving works with simply roasting the turkey breast. One advance of roasting just the breast is that it comes out juicy and doesn’t get dry.

• Then just add your sides like mashed potatoes, seasoned stuffing, your favorite seasonal greens and don’t forget dessert!

Turkey Cooking Tips

Ensure one pound per person or more if you want to ensure leftovers! Order or buy 2 to 3 weeks in advance!

Have a good roasting pan and a rack (which often comes with the pan) plus an instant-read thermometer for safety, if not peak flavor. See how to use a meat thermometer.

If you buy a frozen turkey, it’s important to start defrosting days in advance one day for every four pounds and it is recommended that you defrost it in the refrigerator. If your turkey is not frozen, unwrap it a couple days before cooking and let it air dry in the refrigerator so the air dries its skin tight.

You don’t need to truss your turkey (tie up the legs) unless you’re stuffing the bird. Keep in mind that a trussed turkey takes longer to cook.

Have plenty of turkey or chicken stock on hand. Make sure you know how to carve a turkey before you’re facing the big bird!
