Letter from the President
Hello Team Loyalty,
April was a busy month! We had a great CAPA Norcal Conference, thank you to all team members that were able to attend and to their family members that gave us their loved ones a couple of extra days for them to gather some more tools to better their career and continue to build our company culture. We had great learning experience with the pawn tour, many great seminars including lab created diamonds and how to make jewelry more profitable, podium talked to the conference about how utilize social media, M&M merchandisers talked to us about inventory controls and proper marketing and the growth of young people moving all transactions to their mobile device. We pulled the trigger on the Entropy tool, hopefully you all have a chance to utilize and play with it a bit. We met a new company that sell higher end jewelry on a worldwide online platform, Worthy.com. We have finally found a great product from Nisha, he has found a great deal on a new line of gold chains and findings, Yay Nisha! Another highlight of this conference and any conference is the tremendous networking with other like-minded pawnbrokers. There was much more, but one more important bit of information from the conference is that our lobbyist is moving rapidly through the legislature with our much needed revenue enhance bill.
West Sacramento has nearly completed their store remodel and it looks terrific great job to all that helped and great job to Team West Sacramento for completing the job with no days closed. West Sacramento also did a tremendous Easter promotion with pictures with the Easter Bunny. The pictures look great. I was able to surprise them one day and got a photo opportunity put the costume on had a nice picture with my Lilly and London.
Lake Charles, Louisiana! Wayne, Cody and I took a few day trip to join the Jerry Whitehead bi-annual focus group. These are some of the best learning experiences that I have ever attended and in this industry. Look for more to come with our take-aways from this amazing educational trip.
Finally another HUGE loan growth month all around and revenue is up, layaway balances are up, sales are up. Way to go Team Loyalty.
Gratefully

A Letter from the General Manager
Hello Everyone!
For those who suffer from allergies, it’s that lovely time of year! I hope everyone escapes this super bloom season unscathed! Many cool things to discuss. We will have the pleasure of visiting with the ICG group this next month. We are looking forward to some of the training seminars in which they will be hosing in the training room. We will schedule the best we can to accommodate as many people as possible. The seminars that ICG has often leaves groups with many positive takeaways and we are looking forward to it!
I did want to mention that some of you are taking advantage in reading books that we have on hand such as Munchies for Sales People, The Energy Bus By: Jon Gordon, How to win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie and The Five Dysfunctions of a Team By Patrick Lencioni. These are some books that your Store managers have read in the last 6 months. We are happy to share this information with any team member. If you’re interested in personal and business growth, I highly recommend reaching out to your store manager to keep up to date with the books that we are reading to hone your skills. The book club that we have created at Loyalty Pawn for the Leadership team is invaluable!
Acknowledgements: Since we changed the pay structure at the beginning of April, we have had more qualify for the weekly bonus. Lastly, Loyalty Pawn continues to grow with business success. We have many team members committed to adding to the team value by being engaged in the morning huddles and the weekly one on ones. In the long run, this is an excellent way of developing an elite work force! Loyalty Pawn is committed to developing our teams and truly living our Visions, Values and Goals. If your finding that this isn’t you. Loyalty Pawn Family
Hello Loyalty Family,
Finally, the warm weather is here and personally my favorite time of year. It’s was a great experience last month and a privilege to get to attend the California Pawnbrokers convention. We got some great takeaways, made some new connections and had lots of fun along the way. We got to see some of our friends in the industry’s operations and learn from some of the great minds in the business. Every time I leave one of those events, I always leave very motivated and egger to get back to work. I was talking to a vendor that said Pawnbrokers are a special breed he’s never seen an industry that is so open and friendly amongst competitors. This month I want everyone to think about team building activities and how we can build the Loyalty Pawn culture even more. We have a few candidates we have been considering and want them to see what a special place this company is to work for. Our reviews have been going great and even have some stores creeping up on the four figures which is excellent. I’m also curious which store is going to be the first to have every team member hit the sales incentive
This month we will get to know our Loyalty pawn family member Tony Mora. Tony was born June 7th, 1985 in down town Sacramento. He is the oldest sibling of the two his family bounced around a lot and has pretty much lived in most of down town and south Sacramento. As a little kid Tony has really enjoyed and had a natural talent for art. His family at one point own a food truck where him and his little sister Ana first started two learn valuable lessons in managing money, running a business and finessing his skills in the culinary arts. He would learn by watching his mother multitask between prepping and cooking the food. These life lessons lasted a few summers until Tony was 15 years old. His first real job was working for Riverside Athletic Club as a janitor then eventually moving in to day care services and then finally a second chair GM all while still going to school. Always looking for a better opportunity one of his childhood friends ask him if he wanted to come work for a pawnshop. He started working for Capital City Loan & Jewelry on February 14th, 2004. He started at the old Fruitridge location where he described it as maze of rooms. After working for 7 years Tony always had an itch for the culinary arts ever since that food truck days and few turns of events parted Tony with the company to pursue his passion. In 2009 he joins Le Cordon Blue culinary school and finished at the top of his class earning recognition for several accredited restaurants in Sacramento and even received three blue ribbons, one being for most creative plate decoration. He got the opportunity to work and learn side by side with two highly renounced chefs like Chris Nestor at House Kitchen & Bar and Tony Van Rees. He got a great opportunity in San Francisco, but the commute ended up being more than he could bare after two years. Getting kind of frustrated with the kitchen politics and extremely long hours Tony decided to go back to sales and stared working for Sharif fine Jewelers where he excelled in diamond and luxury goods, custom design and high-end watches which has become his newest passion. After seeing the movement that was made with Loyalty Pawn and the direction we were going and mainly structure he decided to come back to the Pawn industry and help build the Luxury brand.
Tony took a year off between all his ventures to find himself and ended back packing through Europe. He started in lower Germany where he discovered one of his new favorite breakfast’s white bratwurst and beer stein. Next, he traveled all through Germany passing through Frankford, Munich and finally ending up in Amsterdam. Traveling all through Europe he went to places like the Eifel tower in France, he ate authentic paella and danced flamenco in Spain and last he went to Lisbon in Portugal where he fell in love with everything. He one day plans to return and retire there maybe fulfilling the circle and having his own little restaurant there. Wherever his adventures take him I wish him luck and much success.

El Camino
We have a great month over here at El Camino. I want to start out with a big thanks to my management team for being committed to the team and the company while I go on my trip with Luke and Wayne at the end of May and for doing a great job while I was gone at the beginning of the month. We are hoping to get some new showcases in the next month or two to get in line with the company image and stay on brand which is a big thing for us because these showcases have been with the company for a long time. We see big things coming for us with all of these new layaway the past few month and can see our sales increasing over last year and are seeing a bigger loan balance than ever before at this point of the year. Big things happening for the whole Loyalty Pawn Family!

Hello Team Loyalty,
Great month of April here at Roseville. We had a strong loan month and our continuing to grow our loan balance. The new Loyalty Luxury signs are installed and the store overall is looking great. Congrats to the whole team for crushing the layaway challenge we had company wide. Roseville placed 1st with a total of 145 new layaways written for the month, with a whopping total of $59,325. We also built some new shelves in back and are working on new ideas for our bike storage. The team is pumped up for May and there ready for that steak dinner for winning the competition. Hello Team,
Hope everyone had a great Loyalty Day!! The team and I at West Sac would like to thank everyone that came out and helped with our work night remodel. The store looks awesome and the customers love the new floors. I would also like to give a big shout out to Broadway for lending us Jason for the month of May. I’m sure he is going to fit right in with the team and be a huge help.
Fun Fact: The Romans called the month of May Maius. The name changed over the years and it was first called May in the 1400s near the end of the Middle Ages

May 2019 Fun Factoids
May is one of the most gorgeous months of the year. All winter long we’ve been hibernating from the cold and waiting for the sun to come out from behind the clouds. The bees are buzzing, the flowers are blooming, the birds are chirping… it’s time to celebrate May! Why May? Did you know there are a several stories about how the month of May was named? The most popular is that it was named for Maia, the ancient Roman goddess of spring and fertility. In Latin (which is the language those old Ancient Romans spoke), “Maia” is connected to a word that means increase or growth. The Romans held special ceremonies in Maia’s honor on May 1, and again in the middle of the month, on May 15. So now you know! Special May Days There are quite a few special days we American’s love to observe during the month of May – some serious and others that are kind of silly and fun. Check them out!
National Bike Month great month to sell our bikes!!
National Asparagus Month it’s lean, green and mean! Even though we have a feeling most kids out there don’t really like or want to taste asparagus, we’re here to tell you it’s not only yummy, it’s also extremely good for you!
National Asthma & Allergy Awareness Month-while asthma and allergies are two different things that affect some people, they can sometimes have some similar symptoms.
National Flower Month-Because April showers bring May Flowers…that’s why!
National Egg Month-some people call eggs nature’s most perfect food. They’re a great source of protein, as well as 11 essential nutrients. Best of all, they’re super easy to make so get crackin’
National Duckling Month if you’ve ever watched the show Friends, you probably remember that Chandler and Joey kept a chicken and a duck as pets in their New York apartment. Now, the city is no place for a duck – ducks prefer to be waddling around inside, sleeping in the sunshine and paddling on a crystal-blue lake with their duck friends but since May is National Duckling Month what say you go enjoy them at McKinnely Park? Picnic with the kids and feed the ducks good times!
National Hamburger Month Whaaaat? Most folks love hamburgers. My favorite: Mother’s Day May 12th this year! Take care of your mom (or mom substitute) and treat her to something special.
REMINDER: Dental Benefits with Humana
If you’re enrolled in the new Humana PPO or HMO dental plan a quick reminder that both plans have an unlimited annual maximum benefit award! That means that you can incur total dental benefits with no maximum amount capped each year.To review your plan election and summary of benefits, co-pays, deductibles under each plan, please contact Employee Services for a copy of your plan documents. Happy dental health to all!
REMINDER: HRA Bennie Card Issues
Recently we had a few employees have their HRB benefits card declined by their medical providers stating the plan was terminated. This is absolutely false, and I’ve been working with our new Broker, Hutchison Insurance to find out why BASIC, our HRA carrier was declining some employee benefit cards. What we found out is that if an employee hasn’t had any recent 2019 activity on the card, that their medical provider was declining it, not HRA Basic. That said, should anyone who currently is enrolled in one of the HRA Bronze or Silver plans with Loyalty, and if you’re attempting to pay for medical services (dental, vision etc is excluded) please have your medical provider call HRA Basis customer service at (916) 303-7090. Also if you’re in need of medical out of pocket expense reimbursements, no problem. Here’s how you get reimbursed.
1. If paying for a medical visit out of pocket you’ll need to submit a claim to BASIC HRA pacific for reimbursement through your member portal, or by e-mail at customerservice@basicpacific.com or by fax at (916) 303-7083.
12
2. Attach a copy of the detailed receipt or Explanation of Benefits that lists the provider name, date of service, and total billed amount for all services.
3. HRA Basic will review and process
HRA Benefits Reminder (Health Reimbursement Account)
For employees covered under a CalChoice Bronze or Silver group health plan with Loyalty Pawn, the HRA BASIC plan will reimburse 100% of out-of-pocket expenses for medically necessary services (including deductibles, coinsurance, copays and Rx copays, but excluding dental, vision and over-the-counter expenses up to the maximum annual amount based on your enrollment type (Employee Only, Employee plus child, Family etc). These expenses are paid 100% by Loyalty Pawn under the HRA account provision plan.
REMINDER: $$ 401k-Update $$
Do you want to know more about your 401k? Or if you’re not enrolled in Loyalty’s pre-tax contribution retirement savings, would you like to learn more?
