Letter from the President

Hello Team Loyalty!

Another great month for business, Loyalty Layaway programs are working!! We have seen huge growth in our layaway balances and an amazing number of happy customers taking advantage of all our different layaway programs. So, Thank You all, for stepping up our Loyalty Layaway programs and making all of them successful.

The largest growth I have seen with Loyalty Pawn in this first quarter of 2019 is the huge growth in our company culture, team moral and happy team members throughout the entire company!!! That, in my opinion, is the most difficult metric to gauge and make improvements on. I see great communication between all team members. There are several new GroupMe chats set up for the company, individual stores, high end and luxury goods, leadership teams and probably some I am not part of. Great job to all that are involved and active in this easy, quick and effective form of communication. If you are not a part of the GroupMe chats, ask a fellow team member or two I am sure you can get involved in this communication method. I believe that is one of the many reasons we are experiencing such a huge lift with our team family and culture building. It sure makes the work environment that we all spend a third or more of our day five days a week a positive and enjoyable place to be.

We are still rapidly moving with our company wide training. Training happens in all forms; with our consultants, offsite training and management camps, offsite industry convention, focus group as well as some onsite training that will be taking place at each on the individual locations as well as at or training room across the hall from our corporate offices and of course advancing more Loyalty Team members through the GIA education process. The onsite training will begin in April and some more in-depth training in May, I am really looking forward to all these training experiences where we can all learn more about the industry and more about each team member. I hope these training programs that some of you have been to in the past and you will all hopefully experience in the future Nor Cal CAPA conference first weekend in April) have helped you both and your pawn brokering career but have also had FUN and meet new people. Another huge learning tool for me is the book clubs I belong to here at work and other groups I belong to. They are great ways to learn a different perspective about the same thing. Ask your manager if you would like to join one of our book clubs or possibly start one of your own. P.S. We have a growing library of books at the corporate training facility.

Gratefully,

A Letter from the General Manager

Greetings Everyone!

March went by quickly. Hello Spring!! Many great things to discuss starting with the store improvements at both Florin and West Sac. The Broadway location continues to make small improvements in the storage area to help with incoming/ outgoing product. I’m proud to see all hands-on deck in helping beautify the stores. This truly shows the dedication and creativity within the company teams. Many of you have adjusted your personal schedules to help accomplish these upgrades. Thank you so much for your participation and engagement in the process. Florin is pretty much complete with lite finish work left. West Sac will be completing floor and counters by mid-April.

Acknowledgements: For the month of March we have a new Leader in sales for the first time, Josh Bonton. Josh sold $13,932.41. Second place was Dominic T. at $13,068.22 and third place was Parker Hush $11,692.25. Great job team! Congratulations! The top 3 in productivity for March was 1st place Jon Galupe, 2nd Paul Molina & 3rd place Dave Palomares.

Update: Stan and I are happy to introduce our new weekly payroll processing starting on April 1st. We have done some research in other companies who use this model and the outcome has been overwhelmingly successful. We are excited to institute this plus this is a benefit to everyone as this creates weekly payroll cycle and rewards excellent sales performance weekly. Many of you have secured layaways for our clients and these layaways will be an excellent way to build your weekly sales performances!

Training: Coming soon, we will be offering training sessions regarding diamonds, watches, high end purses and much more! We stand Loyal, dedicated and are continuously creative in thinking outside of the box. If anyone has resources that they deem valuable for the benefit of the company & team members, please bring them to your managers attention. We are constantly interested in innovation and improving the Loyalty Pawn Family!

Loyalty Pawn Family

Hello Loyalty Family,

Another month down and how about this crazy weather we’ve been having. Im sure glad some warmth is finally coming, and we can say good-bye to all this rain. For the last few weeks we have completed the remodel of the Florin Mall location. This is one more location that has embraced the visual aspect of the direction the company is moving towards. This was a lot of hard work from the Florin team to get this accomplished and another big thanks to everyone else who volunteered to help the store looks amazing. The next store we are concentrating on is the West Sacramento location not only is it getting a face lift, but we have also been concentrating on getting more foot traffic through that door. We are having an event where you can get your picture taken with the Easter bunny April 15th- 21st so tell all your friends and family.

This month we are going to get to know John Mark, the store manager of the Broadway location. John was born October 15th, 1988 in Sacramento California at Mercy San Juan hospital. He is the oldest sibling of 2. John has been in the pawn industry going north of 14 years. He’s a second-generation pawnbroker, his dad John co owned “at Watt and Marconi Pawn”. John says constant change and progression is what has kept him in the industry and learning new things. Since John has taken over the Broadway location a few changes that have been made to the store are building offices upstairs to make this location the corporate office. There were custom built shelves downstairs on caster where the entire shelf can be pulled out like a giant drawer. This was done so that our client’s merchandise is off the ground and having limited space down there you can bin loans in the back of the shelf and tuck in back in with little effort. John and his team are truly proud on how goods are merchandised in the showroom if you take one look at his showcases you can definitely see the fruits of their labor. Some of their future for what John has for that location are being open until 8:00pm, growing their Layaway balance to $100,000 and seeing his store hit 1 million in loan balance.

Family is everything to John, when he was younger, he remembers spending his summer time on the ocean at Lawsons Landing and his first time he was taken there was when he was only 6 months old. Many good memories were made there especially with his Grandfather Lee who taught him how to fish and crab. Some other memories John has with his Grandfather caretaking the Pit river where he learned how to drive at the age of 12. Summers were always interesting for John at the age of 16 he toured with a carnival selling glass blown figuring’s with his old neighbors I guess this was the beginning of his selling skills. Shortly after that he began working on the river boat on the Sacramento river then worked on a tug boat for the army corp of engineers. He was stationed in England for a few months on the USNS Patuxent. Once he returned, he started his journey with the pawn industry and started working for Capital City Loan & Jewelry and the rest is history.

John and his wife Anna bought a house about 6 months ago and have been working hard to make that house a home. His hobbies are anything that have to do with guns, knives and explosions. He has a real big enthusiasm for history, and he is an avid movie and TV enthusiast. Some of his future plans are to help build up Loyalty Pawn and work hard so one day he can move to Montana where he can buy his own store and continue his life with his wife over there.

El Camino

It has been a great first quarter for ElCO! We met our quarterly sales goal, increased in LSC and loans by a good deal over last year. We implemented our new review wheel and that increased our reviews by almost 100 in a month. We see nothing but great things coming this next quarter and we are all excited.

Roseville

Hello Team Loyalty,

We had a great month of March at Roseville. I would like to introduce and welcome Ramsey to the Roseville team. We crushed our sales goal this month and have been continuing to grow our loan balance. With the new paint job and new signs outside we are starting to see a large influx in new customers. I had a great opportunity this month and went to Phoenix Arizona for Manager smart camp. It was a great experience and I learned a lot. We have already implemented a lot of the takeaways from the camp and the team is very excited for whats in store these next couple months. I am so proud to be apart of what Loyalty Pawn is doing. Keep up the good work everyone and lets make April the best month yet.

Aged Inventory

How to Get Rid of That Elephant In Your Backroom

We have all heard the question “How do you eat an elephant?” And the answer is “one bite at a time!” Taking one bite out of your aged inventory is no different. We tend to think about and make reducing aged inventory a hard thing to do, but in reality it is not that hard. It’s all about the EXECUTION of a simple plan. Aged inventory creation is self-inflicted more often than not. If you have clean, priced-to-value merchandise, you will never have aged ! However, if you follow a few simple steps to reduce your current aged merchandise, you can take steps to get rid of that elephant on your back:

1) Print the inventory list.

2) Identify the age d items.

3) Inspect and clean the aged items.

4) Determine why it has not sold.

5) Price the items to value.

Anyone can moved aged merchandise, but we need to do so in a responsible way. “Blowing it out” is not the right answer. Pricing to the value of the item and selling to our customers is the right way. The challenge to you is to know the aged cost rolling into your inventory DAILY and outrun it! Meaning if you have $300 in cost becoming aged, you need to sell it now so that it never adds to your aged inventory. Feature an aged item every day to move that item before your shift is up. Showcase aged items on an end -cap in your store. Make reducing aged inventory fun! If we all reduce our aged inventory, it helps our company overall to be the BEST IN THE WORLD AT EVERYTHING WE DO!

April’s name comes from the Latin word Aperio, meaning “to open” like a beautiful bud in your gardens because plants begin to grow now that Spring is in full swing!

Dental Benefits with Humana

If you’re enrolled in the new Humana PPO or HMO dental plan a quick reminder that both plans have an unlimited annual maximum benefit award! That means that you can incur total dental benefits with no maximum amount capped each year. To review your plan election and summary of benefits, co-pays, deductibles under each plan, please contact Employee Services for a copy of your plan documents. Happy dental health to all!

HRA Bennie Card Issues

Recently we had a few employees have their HRB benefits card declined by their medical providers stating the plan was terminated. This is absolutely false, and I’ve been working with our new Broker, Hutchison Insurance to find out why BASIC, our HRA carrier was declining some employee benefit cards. What we found out is that if an employee hasn’t had any recent 2019 activity on the card, that their medical provider was declining it, not HRA Basic. That said, should anyone who currently is enrolled in one of the HRA Bronze or Silver plans with Loyalty, and if you’re attempting to pay for medical services (dental, vision etc is excluded) please have your medical provider call HRA Basis customer service at (916) 303-7090. Also if you’re in need of medical out of pocket expense reimbursements, no problem. Here’s how you get reimbursed.

1. If paying for a medical visit out of pocket you’ll need to submit a claim to BASIC HRA pacific for reimbursement through your member portal, or by e-mail at customerservice@basicpacific.com or by fax at (916) 303-7083.

2. Attach a copy of the detailed receipt or Explanation of Benefits that lists the provider name, date of service, and total billed amount for all services.

3. HRA Basic will review and process

HRA Benefits Reminder (Health Reimbursement Account)

For employees covered under a CalChoice Bronze or Silver group health plan with Loyalty Pawn, the HRA BASIC plan will reimburse 100% of out-of-pocket expenses for medically necessary services (including deductibles, coinsurance, copays and Rx copays, but excluding dental, vision and over-the-counter expenses up to the maximum annual amount based on your enrollment type (Employee Only, Employee plus child, Family etc). These expenses are paid 100% by Loyalty Pawn under the HRA account provision plan.
