“The greatest luxury in life is not what we possess, but what we have the privilege to experience, share, and remember.” As we turn the pages of another issue of LLQ Lifestyle, I find myself reflecting on what the word luxury truly means to us today. For many years, luxury was often associated with beautiful things, exceptional places, fine dining, exclusive experiences, and the finest details. And while these remain an important part of the world we celebrate, I believe luxury has become something much more meaningful. Today, luxury can be having time for the people who matter to us. It can be a conversation that stays with us, a meal shared around a table, a quiet moment after a busy day, or the opportunity to discover something that inspires us. Sometimes, the most valuable things in life cannot be measured or bought. This is what makes the lifestyle world so fascinating. Behind every remarkable hotel, restaurant, brand, destination, or achievement, there are people. People with dreams, challenges, passion, determination, and stories worth telling. Here in Qatar, we are fortunate to witness this spirit every day. Our country continues to grow and evolve, creating a vibrant environment where tradition and modernity meet, where new ideas find their place, and where people from different backgrounds come together to create something extraordinary. At LLQ Lifestyle, we have always believed that our responsibility goes beyond showcasing beautiful things. We want to celebrate the people and ideas behind them. We want to tell stories that inspire, introduce you to personalities who make a difference, and highlight experiences that remind us to pause and appreciate the world around us. In this issue, you will find stories of ambition, creativity, hospitality, style, and human achievement. Each one reflects a different interpretation of what it means to live well—and, perhaps more importantly, to live meaningfully. As we look toward the future, I hope we continue to value not only where we are going, but also the people we meet along the way. Because ultimately, the most memorable chapters of our lives are rarely about what we owned. They are about what we felt, who we shared it with, and the memories we created together. Thank you for continuing to welcome LLQ Lifestyle into your world. Turn the page, take your time, and enjoy the journey. Elias Haddad.

When Actions Speak Louder Than Identity.

since 2006.

Insightful perspective on identity by

Dubai Life Coach Lee Levy since 2006.

A MINDFUL APPROACH TO UNDERSTANDING WHO PEOPLE REALLY ARE—NOT BY WHAT THEY SAY OR HOW THEY DRESS, BY WHAT THEY CONSISTENTLY DO.

We live in a world where identity is increasingly something we can construct, curate, and communicate. We tell people who we are through our words, social media profiles, ob titles, beliefs, promises, and carefully chosen descriptions of ourselves. Yet, here is another, %uieter form of communication that often tells the deeper truth: our actions.

As a life coach, I have learned that one of the most revealing questions we can ask ourselves is not “Who does this person say they are?” yet:

“What does their ehaviour consistently show me?” This is not an invitation to judge people harshly. It is an invitation to ecome more mindful.

MINDFULNESS: WATCH WITHOUT IMMEDIATELY

UDGING

MINDFULNESS TEACHES US TO OBSERVE BEFORE REACTING.

A MINDFUL OBSERVER

The mindful observer therefore does not look

people's behaviour while avoiding the same examination of ourselves.

As a coach, I often encourage people to ask: “Should someone only watched what I did, without hearing what I said, what would they believe about me?”

Yet that is no excuse for double standards, for illuisions of who they claim to be.

That %uestion can be uncomfortable—and incredibly powerful.

THE TRUTH HAS NO FEELINGS. You might describe yourself as patient....THO H how do you behave when someone frustrates you?

You might say that health is important, YET what do your daily habits communicate? You might consider yourself ambitious, YET where are you actually investing your time?

You might say that your family matters most, THO H when was the last time you were genuinely present with them? Our intentions matter. Yet our actions are the evidence through which those intentions become visible.Mindful Relationships: elieve Patterns, Not Promises Alone

Relationships are one of the clearest places where actions speak. Someone can repeatedly promise to change. They can explain their intentions beautifully. They can say exactly what you want to hear.

Though be mindful: meaningful change eventually has to become observable.

EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE FORMULAS

WORDS ARE OF SERVICE TOO

After spending time with someone, ask yourself: An apology followed by the same behaviour is different from

an apology followed by accountability and changed choices.

Or do you regularly feel dismissed, anxious, confused, or as though you have to prove your worth?

“I respect you” means something different when it is accompanied by respect for your boundaries.

Our

“I am here for you” carries greater weight when someone actually shows up.

Emotional intelligence is not simply understanding other people's emotions. It is also recognising our own internal signals without immediately dismissing them.

This does not mean we should become cynical or suspicious. It means we can become

Meanwhile, our lived experience says, “Something doesn't feel right.” Mindfulness allows us to hold compassion and clarity at the same

Mindfulness invites us to listen to both. Presence: haracter Is Revealed in the Ordinary. People can learn.

People can become more self-aware. Someone

tomorrow. Mindfulness means noticing change as carefully as we notice inconsistency.

The question is therefore not simply, “What did they do?”

It is also: “What are they doing repeatedly?” “Are they taking responsibility?” “Are their actions changing?”

Growth is demonstrated through behaviour too. The Mindful hoice:

Emotional Intelligence: Listen to What Behaviour Creates

et ehaviour Inform Your oundaries

One of the greatest lessons I share with clients is that you do not have to argue with someone's self-description.

Another important mindfulness practice is becoming aware of how people's actions affect us.

W

someone says they are trustworthy, you do not need to prove them wrong.

Observe.

When someone says they respect you, observe. When someone says they value your relationship, observe. You do not have to interrogate every statement. You can simply allow consistent behaviour to provide the information you need.

So perhaps the most powerful question is:

“Who do I say I am?”

Smile YOUR

HAS AN AGE TOO: What Really Happens to Our Teeth Over Time?” Dr. Nour Zourob

Do Our Teeth Age With Us? We often associate aging with changes in our skin, hair, muscles, and bones. But what about our teeth? Do they age too? The answer is yes — although perhaps not in the way we usually imagine. Teeth do not develop wrinkles or simply “grow old,” but they undergo gradual structural and visible changes throughout our lives. At the same time, the gums, bone, saliva, and muscles surrounding them also change. Together, these processes can make our smile look and feel different as the years pass.

What Happens to Teeth as We Age?

24

2. Teeth may naturally become darker A changing tooth color does not necessarily mean poor oral hygiene. Dentin — the layer beneath enamel — tends to become thicker and darker over time. Combined with gradual enamel wear and years of exposure to coffee, tea, tobacco, and pigmented foods, this can make the smile appear less bright than it did at a younger age.

1. Enamel gradually becomes thinner

3. Small cracks and signs of wear may appear

Enamel is the hard outer layer that protects each tooth. It is remarkably strong, but it is not indestructible. Decades of chewing, grinding, exposure to acidic foods and drinks, and certain brushing habits can gradually wear its surface.

Our teeth withstand enormous forces throughout a lifetime. Tiny enamel cracks, flattened biting surfaces, and worn edges can therefore become more noticeable with age

As enamel becomes thinner, more of the underlying dentin may become visible, which can make teeth appear darker or more yellow.

For people who clench or grind their teeth, particularly during sleep, these changes may occur more quickly and can sometimes lead to sensitivity, fractures, or changes in the shape of the teeth

4. The gums can change too A youthful smile is not only about the teeth; healthy gums are equally important Over time, gums may recede, exposing parts of the tooth roots. Gum recession can make teeth appear longer and may increase sensitivity because root surfaces are not protected by enamel in the same way as the crowns of our teeth. However, significant gum recession or tooth mobility should never simply be dismissed as “normal aging.” Periodontal disease is common, but it is preventable and treatabl

5. Our mouth may become drier Saliva is one of the mouth’s natural defense systems. It helps neutralize acids, wash away food particles, and protect teeth from decay. Dry mouth becomes more common with age, particularly because many medications and certain medical conditions can reduce saliva production. Less saliva can increase the risk of cavities, oral infections, discomfort, and difficulty swallowing. This makes managing dry mouth an important part of maintaining oral health later in life.

Can Teeth Become More Sensitive With Age? They can. Enamel wear and gum recession may expose dentin or root surfaces, making teeth more sensitive to cold, heat, sweetness, or even brushing. But new or persistent sensitivity should not automatically be blamed on age. Cavities, cracked teeth, gum disease, worn restorations, and other dental problems can cause similar symptoms and should be assessed by a dentist.

Does Aging Mean Losing Your Teeth? Absolutely not. One of the biggest misconceptions about oral health is that losing teeth is an inevitable part of getting older. It isn’t.

While the risk of certain dental problems may increase over time, many people can keep their natural teeth throughout their lives with effective oral hygiene, regular dental care, appropriate nutrition, and early treatment when problems arise. Age itself does not cause teeth to fall out. Conditions such as advanced gum disease and untreated tooth decay are far more important factors.

How Can We Help Our Smile Age Well? The goal should not necessarily be to make teeth look permanently 20 years old. Instead, it is to keep them healthy, functional, comfortable, and naturally attractive throughout every stage of life. Brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, limiting frequent exposure to sugary and acidic foods and drinks, avoiding tobacco, and attending regular dental examinations can make a significant difference. People who grind their teeth may also benefit from professional evaluation and, when appropriate, a protective night guard. Dry mouth should be discussed with a dentist or physician rather than ignored, particularly when it is persistent. Cosmetic treatments such as professional whitening, bonding, veneers, or replacement of aging restorations may also improve the appearance of a smile when clinically appropriate — but good oral health should always come first.

A Smile Can Age Beautifully Yes, our teeth change as we grow older. But an aging smile does not have to mean an unhealthy smile. In fact, many of the changes we associate with “old teeth” are influenced not only by age, but by decades of habits, diet, oral hygiene, dental conditions, medications, and lifestyle. We cannot stop time, but modern preventive dentistry gives us something much more valuable: the ability to protect our natural teeth for longer. Growing older is inevitable. Losing a healthy smile is not.

How Students Learned to Trust Their Voices with Doha Debates

D

uring high school years in Model United Nations, Dahlia Al-Ansari learned to argue on behalf of a country she was assigned to represent. But when Doha Debates invited her to join a town hall debate in Toronto this July, she faced an unfamiliar challenge: sharing her own beliefs about a timely issue. An 18-year-old biological sciences student at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Al-Ansari hadn’t traveled to defend a predetermined position. Instead, she discovered that she was there to think critically, express her own viewpoint and remain open to diverse perspectives.

This shift required her to navigate uncharted waters, but “I’m happy that it did,” she says. “It’s showing me the importance of speaking up for myself.” Al-Ansari was among 20 students from Qatar, Canada and Mexico who spent eye-opening days preparing for the live debate. The town hall, titled “Football fandom: Community or commodity?”, explored the impact of big money on football fandom. The student group joined guests Shireen Ahmed, David Goldblatt and Kely Nascimento for a wide-ranging, thoughtful conversation about whether powerful investors have corrupted football and its fans or given the sport a global upgrade.

The town hall, a collaboration between Doha Debates and Qatar’s Years of Culture initiative, brought young people from this year’s partner countries together to engage openly with different cultures. Since 2012, Years of Culture has focused on building lasting relationships through cultural exchange. While their preparation covered both debate techniques and football-focused discussions, many students said the most valuable outcome was learning to trust their own voice amid differing views.

For J Lina El Zeini, a Georgetown University international economics student, that realization meant overcoming self-doubt. “I struggled at the start. I was nervous, stumbled over some of my words and felt like I had messed up,” the 20-year-old Palestinian Canadian said. By the time the town hall was over, things had changed “I had not only become more confident in my public speaking, I had also realized that my voice has value, and that meaningful dialogue is something I want to keep being part of,” she said. The students’ transformations, as it turns out, weren’t by chance, but by design. Their pre-debate journey was intentionally structured to help them manage stress, navigate differing opinions and build confidence. For Ayaan Khan, a 20-year-old University of Toronto student, transformation was about showing up “not as someone searching for the perfect response, but as someone prepared to engage, contribute, and grow alongside others.” By the time the students arrived at Toronto’s Terminal Theatre on July 8, they had spent days practicing how to engage across differences and speak from personal conviction. As the cameras rolled and the lights came up, they listened intently, shared their views and shed longheld conversational habits. When her turn to speak came, Al-Ansari felt that old instinct to reach for something rehearsed but resisted. “I decided to say what I had been thinking about for the last three minutes,” she said. El Zeini experienced a similar breakthrough. he found her stride: “The overwhelmingly good feedback I got from the audience confirmed what I want to hold onto,” she said. Speak on what you believe is right, and trust that people will meet you there.” The whole experience translated into pure excitement for Jose Emiliano, a Mexican political science student at Carleton University in Ottawa. After the debate, when asked to rate his readiness to step outside his comfort zone on a scale of one to five, he didn’t hesitate. “A five,” he said.

The full town hall episode is now out on the Doha Debates and Al Jazeera English YouTube channels.

Leadership AND THE FUTURE OF HILTON DOHA

Area General Manager, Hilton Doha West Bay.

ew names carry the same recognition in Doha's hospitality landscape as Hilton Doha. Over the years, the property has established a distinctive presence in the city, welcoming international travelers, business guests and local residents while evolving alongside Doha itself. Today, as the city continues to strengthen its position as a global destination for tourism, business and lifestyle, Hilton Doha is entering another defining chapter. I recently sat down with Wael Maatouk, Area General Manager of Hilton Doha West Bay, to discuss what that next chapter means for one of the city's established hospitality names. Our conversation quickly moved beyond the renovation itself to a broader question: how does a landmark property evolve with the times while preserving the identity and standards that have shaped its reputation?

Maatouk brings considerable perspective to that question. His career has taken him from Food & Beverage into senior leadership across Montreal, Riyadh, Dubai and Doha, exposing him to different markets, cultures and generations of visitors. That experience has given him an informed view of where hospitality is heading and what today's guests increasingly expect from an upscale hotel.

In our conversation for LLQ Lifestyle, we explore the transformation of Hilton Doha, the changing definition of comfort, the rise of experiential travel, the importance of diverse hospitality teams and the opportunities ahead for

hospitality scene.

33

LLQ Lifestyle: You have built an impressive career in the hospitality industry and have taken on leadership roles across different markets. Looking back, what have been the defining moments that shaped you into the leader you are today? Wael Maatouk: “My career has been shaped by the opportunity to work across different markets, cultures, brands and business environments. Each chapter has taught me something different about leadership, particularly the importance of adaptability, resilience and staying close to the operation. Coming from a Food & Beverage background gave me a strong operational foundation and a deep understanding of the guest experience. Over the years, moving into broader leadership responsibilities taught me to look beyond individual departments and understand the hotel as an integrated business, where people, commercial performance, guest experience and brand positioning all need to work together.

34

Leading in different markets, including Montreal, Riyadh, Dubai and Doha, has also reinforced the importance of cultural intelligence. There is no universal leadership formula. The ability to understand the market, listen to people and adapt while remaining consistent in your values is what ultimately makes leadership effective.”

LLQ Lifestyle: As Area General Manager, what do you enjoy most about leading a diverse team in one of Doha's most dynamic hospitality environments? Wael Maatouk: “The diversity of our people is one of our greatest strengths. Hospitality brings together individuals from different cultures, backgrounds and experiences, and when that diversity is managed effectively, it creates a very powerful organization. What I enjoy most is creating alignment, bringing different teams and perspectives together around a common purpose and ensuring everyone understands the role they play in our overall success.

Doha is also an exciting market. The pace of development, the increasing sophistication of the tourists and Qatar's growing position on the global tourism map create an environment where we must continuously evolve.

As a leader, I find that challenge extremely motivating. It is about building an organization that is commercially strong, operationally disciplined and, above all, capable of delivering an exceptional experience consistently.”

LLQ Lifestyle: Every leader has a unique approach to building and motivating a team. How would you describe your leadership style, and what values do you believe are essential for creating a successful hospitality culture? Wael Maatouk: “I would describe my leadership style as transparent, empowering and accountable. I believe people perform at their best when they understand the direction of the business, have clarity around expectations and are trusted to take ownership. My role as a leader is not to have every answer, but to create the conditions in which the right answers can emerge from the team.

35

The values I consider fundamental are integrity, respect, accountability and continuous improvement. In hospitality, culture is not something that sits separately from business performance; it directly influences it. When you build a culture where people feel respected, empowered and accountable, you create stronger engagement, better service and ultimately a stronger business.

LLQ Lifestyle: The hospitality industry is constantly evolving, especially in a destination as dynamic as Qatar. What changes are you seeing in guest expectations today, and how are you adapting to them? Wael Maatouk: “Guest expectations have become significantly more sophisticated. Visitors are no longer simply evaluating a hotel based on its rooms, facilities or traditional service standards. They are evaluating the entire experience from the first digital interaction to the sense of place, personalization, dining, wellness and the memories they take away.

36

We are also seeing the expectations of younger generations, particularly Gen Z, influencing the wider hospitality landscape. They are highly connected, experiencedriven and value authenticity, flexibility and meaningful experiences. They want brands to be relevant, engaging and genuine rather than simply transactional. At the same time, we are seeing a greater convergence between business and leisure travel, with guests looking for properties that can cater to multiple needs within one experience. For us, this means remaining highly responsive to changing consumer behavior while protecting the fundamentals of hospitality. Technology can enhance convenience and personalization, but it cannot replace genuine human connection. Our focus is therefore on combining strong operational foundations with innovation, relevant experiences and a deeper understanding of our guests, including the expectations of the next generation of travelers. The future of hospitality will be about creating experiences that feel personal, authentic and worth remembering.”

LLQ Lifestyle: What does exceptional hospitality mean to you personally, and how do you ensure that this philosophy is reflected in the guest experience across your properties? Wael Maatouk: “Exceptional hospitality is ultimately about relevance and connection. It is about understanding what matters to the guest and delivering it with authenticity and consistency. At a leadership level, I believe the responsibility is to create the right culture, systems and empowerment for our teams to deliver that experience. You cannot create exceptional hospitality simply through procedures; you create it by developing people who genuinely care about the outcome. Our role is also to ensure that operational excellence and commercial discipline support the guest experience rather than compete with it. The strongest hotels are those where service, brand, people and business performance move in the same direction.”

LLQ Lifestyle: Throughout your career, you have worked with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. What have these experiences taught you about leadership, communication and building strong teams?

LLQ Lifestyle: Beyond your professional responsibilities, what continues to inspire and motivate you in an industry you have dedicated so much of your career to? Wael Maatouk: “The industry continues to evolve, and that keeps it interesting. Hospitality is one of the few businesses where people, culture, technology, real estate, food and beverage and tourism all intersect. What motivates me most today is impact. I enjoy seeing the connection between a strategic decision and its outcome, whether that is developing talent, improving performance, strengthening a hotel's market position or creating an experience that genuinely resonates with guests. I am also passionate about developing future leaders. A successful leader should not simply deliver results today; they should leave behind a stronger team and organization for tomorrow.”

LLQ Lifestyle: Hilton Doha is currently undergoing an exciting renovation and transformation project. What is the vision behind this new chapter, and how will the project enhance the experience for both guests and the wider Doha community?

Wael Maatouk: “It has taught me that diversity is not simply about representation; it is about perspective.

Wael Maatouk: “The transformation of Hilton Doha represents an important new chapter for the property and for our position within Doha's hospitality landscape.

When you lead multicultural teams, you quickly learn that communication cannot be one-dimensional. You need to listen carefully, understand different perspectives and create an environment where people feel comfortable challenging ideas and contributing.

Our ambition is not simply to modernize the hotel. It is to redefine the experience and ensure that Hilton Doha remains relevant to the next generation of travelers while building on the property's heritage and established reputation.

At the same time, a diverse organization needs a very clear common purpose. People may come from different backgrounds, but they need to understand what the organization stands for, what success looks like and what is expected of them.

The transformation is being delivered through a phased approach, allowing us to continue welcoming guests while progressively enhancing key areas of the hotel. The program encompasses guest accommodation and executive facilities, meeting spaces and, in subsequent phases, important public, dining, leisure and wellness areas.

FOR ME, STRONG LEADERSHIP IS ABOUT CREATING THAT BAL ANCE BETWEEN INDIVIDUALITY AN A L I G N M E N T. ”

From a broader perspective, we see the hotel as part of the fabric of Doha. Our objective is to create a destination that serves not only international travelers but also the local community, corporate sector and residents who have been part of our story for many years.”

LLQ Lifestyle: Major transformations involve much more than redesigning physical spaces. How are you ensuring that the renovation of Hilton Doha preserves the property's established identity while introducing a fresh, contemporary experience for a new generation of travelers? Wael Maatouk: “That is one of the most important considerations behind the transformation. A successful repositioning should respect the equity that has been built over time while having the courage to evolve. Hilton Doha has an established presence and strong recognition in the market, and we do not want to lose that connection. At the same time, today's traveler is different. Expectations around design, flexibility, dining, wellness, technology and social experiences have evolved considerably. The answer is therefore not to choose between heritage and innovation, but to bring them together. We are retaining the strengths that define Hilton Doha while creating a more contemporary and experience-driven environment. Most importantly, the transformation extends beyond the physical product. We are equally focused on our people, service culture and the way we engage with our guests. The ultimate objective is to ensure that the new Hilton Doha feels both familiar and new: recognizable to our loyal guests while exciting for a new generation.”

LLQ Lifestyle: What do you believe sets Doha apart as a global hospitality destination, and where do you see the city's lifestyle sector heading in the coming years? Wael Maatouk: “Doha has a unique proposition because it combines a sophisticated, rapidly developing destination with a strong sense of identity and culture. Qatar has made significant investments in infrastructure, tourism, sports, culture and hospitality, and the results are increasingly visible. The country has successfully established itself as a destination capable of hosting the world while offering a distinct experience rooted in the region.

Looking ahead, I believe Doha's hospitality sector will become increasingly experiential and diversified. The market will continue to move beyond traditional hospitality towards lifestyle, wellness, culinary experiences, entertainment and highly personalized stays. The opportunity for the industry is to create experiences that are internationally relevant while remaining distinctly connected to Qatar. For Hilton Doha, this is an exciting time. The transformation of the property is aligned with the evolution of the destination itself. Our ambition is to play an active role in that next chapter; not simply by responding to where Doha is going, but by contributing to the future of its hospitality landscape.”

Wael Matouk: THE EXPRESSION OF HOSPITALIT Y WHERE COMFORT MEETS TOMORROW Doha's hospitality story is being shaped by leaders who understand that the city's appeal lies in more than its impressive skyline. It is also found in the vision, creativity and commitment behind the properties that continue to redefine the guest experience. For Wael Maatouk, the future of hospitality is ultimately about bringing together people, place and purpose. His perspective reflects an industry moving beyond conventional definitions of hospitality towards experiences that are personal, culturally connected and constantly evolving. As Hilton Doha enters its next chapter, the transformation offers an opportunity to build on its established identity while responding to the expectations of a new generation of travelers. Under Maatouk's leadership, the focus remains on purposeful innovation, meaningful experiences and the belief that the strongest hospitality experiences begin with genuine connection. Through such insightful conversations, LLQ Lifestyle continues to explore the leaders and ideas contributing to that evolution, with GM Wael Maatouk offering a compelling perspective on where Doha's hospitality landscape is heading next.

UNIVERSAL GENÈVE

Relaunches

THE MAISON’S MOST ICONIC MODEL: THE POLEROUTER

40

U

niversal Genève reintroduces a modern incarnation of the historic Polerouter, the watch that set a new standard in the 1950s and became a favourite of cultural tastemakers in the decades that followed. Originally conceived by a young Gerald Genta for a pioneering polar route air flight, the model swiftly rose to prominence, becoming one of Universal Genève’s most emblematic creations, synonymous with visual balance, reliable functionality and timeless design. Today, the Polerouter is reborn, honouring its legendary design while carefully refined to meet the discerning needs of the modern wearer. The new edition unfolds as a contemporary evolution of the original 20th-century model, remaining faithful to both its design codes and its spirit.

Instantly recognisable by its outer dial ring, twisted lugs and signature crosshair now reimagined with playfully artistic twists, the new models are equipped with a “weekendproof” Microtor-movement delivering a 72-hour power reserve, seamlessly uniting beauty and elegance with technical innovation.

41

The Polerouter’s innovative design evolved alongside the brand’s technical advances. Initially launched in 1954 with a bumper automatic movement, it later incorporat ed the Microtor Calibre 215, introduced in 1958. Featuring an integrated microrotor and measuring just 4.1 mm in height, it was the world’s thinnest automatic move ment at the time, a breakthrough that enhanced both elegance and practicality. Many Polerouter models featured the distinctive crosshair dial that would become one of the design’s most recognizable signatures. Dividing the face into bal anced quarters, it subtly drew the eye toward the centre while reflecting Univer sal Genève’s sense of precision and visual harmony. Initially produced in just 170 pieces, many were gifted to SAS pilots and are now highly coveted by collectors. Within a few years, the Polerouter became an icon beyond aviation, favored by celebrities including Bruce Lee and Alain Delon.

A HISTORIC MILESTONE IN WATCHMAKING On November 15, 1954, a Douglas DC-6B Scandinavian Airlines flight departed Copenhagen for Los Angeles on the first transatlantic route flying over the North Pole, cutting travel time between Europe and America. On board were the prime ministers of Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, alongside prominent journalists witnessing aviation history. For such a challenging flight, pilots needed a specialist watch capable of withstanding extreme conditions. SAS turned to Universal Genève, which commissioned 23-year-old Gérald Genta. Together, they created the Polerouter: a design that combined precision, durability, and style. Its curved dial and patented crystal outer dial tension ring ensured water and dust resistance, anti-magnetic protection, and shockproof reliability, while twisted lugs enhanced comfort. The Polerouter marked Genta’s breakthrough. Over six decades, he imagined around 100,000 designs, but his collaboration with Universal Genève remained one of his closest to heart. “Whenever Gérald talked about his career, he always started with the Polerouter and Universal Genève,” his widow Evelyne Genta recalled in 2011. “It was the start of it all.”

42

THE MODERN POLEROUTER “Today, Genta’s landmark Polerouter remains a cornerstone of Universal Genève’s offering, relaunched as a modern evolution of the vintage classic,” says Gregory Bruttin, Managing Director of Universal Genève. Staying true to Universal Genève’s status as “Le Couturier de la Montre”, the new Polerouter is presented across the Prêt-àPorter and capsules editions. Every model features the crosshair signature as a design starting point, while retaining the original’s twisted lugs and outer dial ring, subtly reworked to enhance their character. Special editions introduce creative, modern touches that playfully reinterpret the Maison’s codes. Building on Universal Genève’s legacy of innovation, the Maison has developed a new Microtor movement, the UG-110, a natural evolution of decades of crafts manship. It blends aesthetic elegance with mechanical precision, embodying Universal Genève’s philosophy of functional beauty.

All Polerouter models are equipped with the UG-110, designed to meet the demands of modern life. At just 3.8 mm, it is sleek and discreet, with every component finished with meticulous attention to detail. The movement is shock-resistant, runs at 4 Hz, and features a “weekend-proof” 72hour power reserve.

AND ASTON MARTIN PRESENT TOP TIME TRIBUTE TO ICONIC DB5

I

That moment is reinterpreted here through material and form. Wood-inlayed details, hand-colored gradient leather straps, and refined dial executions echo the interiors of the Aston Martin DB5. The result is a watch that captures the feel of being behind the wheel of Aston Martin’s classic grand tourer.

In the 1960s, the Top Time was Breitling’s unconventional chronograph, created for a new, youthful, speed-driven audience. When a Top Time ref. 2002 appeared on Sean Connery’s wrist in Thunderball (1965), worn alongside the Aston Martin DB5, two icons of the era shared a defining moment in design history. It marked the first Q-modified watch in the James Bond series, and a chapter where speed and style found a common language.

“The Aston Martin DB5 is one of those rare designs that never fades. It still feels as relevant today as it did in the 1960s,” says Georges Kern, CEO of House of Brands (Universal Genève, Breitling, and Gallet). “With this Top Time, we capture that sense of timeless style.”

ntroduced in 1963, one of the world’s most iconic onscreen cars, the Aston Martin DB5, became synonymous with British culture, design, and innovation, firmly establishing Aston Martin as one of Britain’s most desirable luxury brands. Today, Breitling and Aston Martin proudly bring that shared legacy to the wrist with the Top Time B01 Chronograph 41 Tribute to Aston Martin DB5, presented in three distinct limited editions.

Marek Reichman, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer at Aston Martin adds: “These editions represent something truly distinct from anything we’ve created before. The collaboration with Breitling brought together two brands with a shared appreciation for timeless design, craftsmanship, and innovation, allowing us to exchange ideas in a way that felt both natural and ambitious. Inspired by the enduring elegance of the Aston Martin DB5 and our shared heritage of iconic design, the watch captures a balance of beauty, precision, and performance. Every detail has been carefully considered to reflect the character and authenticity synonymous with both brands. The result is a watch that feels contemporary today, yet timeless for generations to come.” Inspired by the timeless elegance of the Aston Martin DB5, every detail of the Top Time Tribute to Aston Martin DB5 brings together two design legacies: the tactile richness of Aston Martin interiors and the modern-retro codes of the Top Time. The cushion-shaped case, grooved corners, and mushroom pushers recall the distinctive profile of the 1960s chronograph, while the “squircle” subdials capture the look of classic car dashboard gauges.

46

A wooden inner ring draws on the DB5’s steering wheel, and the handcolored gradient leather strap reflects the depth and tone of fine automotive upholstery. Together, these elements create a watch shaped with the same attention to detail.

“This chronograph blends form with true function,” says Breitling’s Head of Product Design Pablo Widmer. “As with the Aston Martin DB5, its beauty lies in its lines, materials, and finishings.”

Ģ

18k red gold with onyx dial, limited to 250 individually numbered pieces, brings an even more elevated expression. The dial is cut from natural onyx, the first use of the stone by Breitling, revealing a unique depth and luster.

Across all three, the design details translate the Aston Martin DB5’s interior craftsmanship into a contemporary chronograph.

MANUFACTURE PERFORMANCE The engine of the watch is the Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01, a COSC-certified chronograph movement designed for precision and reliability. Its column-wheel architecture and vertical clutch ensure smooth, accurate operation, while a 70-hour power reserve supports extended wear.

The collection is offered in three editions: Ģ

Stainless steel with a silver dial, limited to 1,022 pieces, offers a balanced take that’s closest in spirit to the original Top Time ref. 2002.

Ģ

Steel and platinum with a black lacquered dial, limited to 315 pieces, introduces contrast and depth, with the platinum bezel adding weight and presence against the high-gloss black surface.

Visible through the open sapphire-crystal caseback, the movement is finished with a dedicated Aston Martin– engraved rotor – rhodium-plated or 18k red gold, depending on the version. Each edition pairs this performance with a design language rooted in one of the most recognizable cars ever made. The Top Time Tribute to Aston Martin DB5 revisits a moment when two distinct approaches to design aligned. One shaped in performance and proportion, the other in precision and form. Together, they continue to be markers of style, that stand the test of time.

’m a 25-year-old Lebanese woman who grew up between Lebanon and London—two places that have deeply shaped who I am and the way I see the world. I spent much of my life studying and living in London, while always remaining connected to my Lebanese roots. I spent much of my life studying and living in London, while always remaining connected to my Lebanese roots.

Choosing Qatar for the launch of my very first collection was a very intentional and emotional decision for me.

Qatar has created such a meaningful space for jewelry. There is a real appreciation here for craftsmanship, beauty, detail, and the story behind each piece. Jewelry is celebrated through exhibitions and events that give designers a platform to present their work and connect with people who truly understand and value it. What makes that even more special to me is the opportunity Qatar creates for women, including Arab women, to come here with an idea, a story, and something they have created, and to be given a space to showcase it. As a young Lebanese woman launching my first brand, that means so much to me. Being able to stand here in Doha and introduce something that was born from such a personal part of my life feels incredibly empowering.

Ive chosen the leopard print to be the signature of my brand becaseThe leopard is strong and independent, but there is also something incredibly feminine and graceful about it. It doesn’t need to be loud to be powerful. There is a quiet confidence in the way it carries itself—it knows its strength. I chose the leopard print as the signature of my brand because it’s actually always been my favorite print. I’ve always loved wearing it, whether through clothes, accessories, or little details in my everyday style. But beyond simply loving the print, I also really connect with what the leopard represents. It’s strong and independent, but at the same time feminine. It has this quiet confidence—it doesn’t need to be loud to be powerful. So it felt very natural to take something I’ve always personally loved and make it part of the identity of 24.

I chose the name twenny four because at 24 that was the age when I became a mother and also a single mother. I wanted to do something for myself and for my daughter, something that was truly ours. I wanted to build something on my own, to feel independent. When I think back to being 24. I think of how much that year gave me. It shaped me, pushed me to grow. It was honestly such a beautiful age for me, and one I never want to forget. That’s why I called the brand twenny. It’s my way of carrying that year, that feeling, and that version of myself with me wherever I go.

The set consists of three pieces: an 18K white gold necklace, bracelet, and earrings, each adorned with diamonds and a vibrant combination of pink, purple, and blue sapphires. Introduction DARLI Aurora brings a spectrum of color into the floral architecture of the original DARLI High Style collection. DARLI has always lived between strength and softness, and Aurora finds that same duality in the moment night gives way to day. Pink, purple, and blue sapphires lead the composition, moving through each petal the way first light moves across a city, softly at first and then fully bloomed. Set in 18K white gold with diamonds and multi-color sapphires, the necklace, bracelet, and earrings form a High Style set that feels both feminine and architectural.

Inspiration

Craftsmanship

Aurora takes its name from the Latin word for dawn, and from the natural light that paints the sky at the far edges of the city. Its palette was drawn from New York at daybreak: Midtown towers washed in violet, the Manhattan Bridge glowing rose, the cables of the Brooklyn Bridge set against a deepening blue. It is the hour when the city sits between states, when structure softens into color. Here, that fleeting sky is held in stone, with pink, purple, and blue sapphires at its center and accents that carry the gradient from rose and violet to the first golden ray of the sun.

Each sapphire is placed with purpose, so that color travels from one flower to the next without interruption. Around them, D-shaped petals are layered and hand-mounted, their pavé diamonds tracing the geometry of the square as it opens into the floral form. At the heart of every piece, a pink sapphire rises from sculptural planes of polished white gold, a focal point where the light gathers. The result is a set built with precision, as architectural as the skyline that inspired it and as luminous as the morning it is named for. Aurora is crafted to awaken something within the wearer. A sense of becoming. A quiet confidence. A feeling of unfolding beautifully, purposefully, and on their own terms.

STORY IN HIGH JEWELLERY

52

A

new reveal unfolds in Tales of the Nile as Azza Fahmy Jewellery presents the second part of the collection’s second chapter, introducing a new series of High Jewellery pieces inspired by heritage, symbolism, and exceptional craftsmanship At the heart of this reveal are a series of distinctive necklaces that reflect the house’s deep connection to symbolism, poetry, and exceptional craftsmanship. The Hand of Fatima necklace revisits one of the house’s most recognizable symbols. The protective Hand of Fatima, a motif long explored within Azza Fahmy’s design language appears here in 18kt gold through intricate filigree, threedimensional floral elements, and delicate ajour twisted wirework. At its centre sits a vivid 4.60ct cushion-cut Emerald, handpicked by Head Designer Amina Ghali for its depth of colour and natural brilliance. The phrase “Oh Protector” appears in calligraphy as fine as lace, anchoring the piece in both symbolism and craft.

53

Rooted in ancient Egyptian visual language, the Emerald Lotus choker draws on the rich iconography of Tutankhamun. This 18kt gold choker features a pearshaped Emerald at its centre, set within a delicate Diamond frame, from which a detachable tassel unfolds. Gold chains set with Diamonds lead to dangling Lotus motifs, adding movement to the piece. The design draws inspiration from Tutankhamun’s iconic mask and the back of his nemes headdress, while also reflecting the geometric patterns and motifs found in the temples and tombs of the Theban monuments of Luxor. Alternating bouquets of Lotus flowers are balanced with daisy rosettes, and the piece is completed with the house’s signature Roman chain, fastened by a large rosette and ending in finely sculpted Lotus forms.

Versatility, a hallmark of Amina Ghali’s design approach, is reflected in the Tales of Love necklace, a multi-way design that bridges generations of craftsmanship. The necklace features one of the house’s most iconic chains, first introduced by Azza Fahmy over fifty years ago. At its centre rests a 7.21ct octagon-cut Emerald framed by diamonds, chosen for its exceptional colour and cut. Beneath it, a pendant bears the poetic line “In my heart I see you every day and every night” Twisted wirework and handmade Arabic chain tassels complete the design, creating a silhouette that subtly echoes Art Deco influences.

54

The Joy necklace centres on Rubellite, a stone Amina Ghali has recently been drawn to. At its centre, a pendant engraved with the words “Happiness & Joy” in Azza Fahmy’s signature calligraphy is surrounded by 28.35ct oval-cut Rubellite stones, each framed in diamonds and set by hand using the Ottoman technique. Strands of luminous pearls form the necklace, punctuated with delicate filigree crescents that soften the intensity of the stones and bring balance to the composition. The Joy necklace is designed to be paired with the Joy earrings. whose 8.13ct oval-cut Rubellite stones framed in diamonds echo the same regal presence.

55

The Rubellite Tutankhamun necklace further explores this connection to ancient Egypt. This 18kt Gold necklace, set with a handpicked Rubellite at its centre, encircled by a halo of Diamonds, evokes the jewellery found among the treasures of the young king Tutankhamun’s tomb. At the heart of the piece is a carved scarab surrounded by the exquisitely feathered wings of Horus, suspended from Azza Fahmy’s signature Roman double chain and Djed Pillar—symbols of strength, endurance, and eternal blessing Extending this expression of colour and sentiment is the Joy bangle. For each piece in her High Jewellery collection, Amina Ghali personally selects the stones, allowing their individuality to guide the design and ensuring that every piece remains entirely unique. This 18kt gold bangle centres around a one-of-a-kind 6.57ct cushion-cut Rubellite, set within a diamond frame that echoes a refined Art Deco silhouette. Encircling the stone is a band of lace-like calligraphy reading “Joy – Happiness”, a poetic reflection of the emotions Ghali wished the piece to convey. The design is completed with the house’s signature twisted wirework, a technique perfected in the Azza Fahmy workshop since the 1980s.

Alongside the necklaces and bangles, the collection also introduces a striking Aquamarine ring set with a radiant 2.10ct princess-cut Aquamarine within an ArtDeco-inspired diamond setting. Personally selected by Amina Ghali for its clarity and colour, the stone rests on a band engraved with the words “Compassion & Mercy” in the house’s flowing calligraphy. The piece reflects Azza Fahmy’s philosophy of weaving meaning into form, where stone, word, and craftsmanship come together with quiet strength. Throughout the collection, Ghali’s search for exceptional gemstones, sourced during her travels to India ,remains central to the narrative. Aquamarines, Rubellites, Emeralds and other remarkable stones were chosen for their individuality, becoming the starting point around which each design takes shape. Through Arabic calligraphy, intricate filigree, and time-honoured metalwork techniques, the collection continues to express Azza Fahmy’s belief that jewellery carries stories, stories shaped by heritage, artistry, and time. The collection will be available for a first glance at the Doha fair, with further details available upon request.

Z AMesmerising KIA BILGRA C H A R M O F POLKI DIAMONDS

T

oday, modern design is finally rediscovering the charm of Polki diamonds, which blends tradition with contemporary flair. When we dive into the enchanting world of Polki diamonds, that is over two thousand years old.

Diamonds were first discovered in India in the 4th century B.C. They were only sourced from India until 1730. Even today, 92% of the world diamonds are still cut and polished in India in the city of Surat, Gujarat.

What is Polki? In the Western world, the term Polki refers to raw, uncut, and unpolished diamonds. It’s the purest and most organic form of diamond, uncut and unpolished with domes that have a flat base. One of the processes of creating a Polki involves slicing a thin section of an uncut diamond to create a base and then to appropriately set it in gold or silver. Some may confuse Polkis with Almas. In Persian and Urdu, the word Almas is a name given to cut and polished diamonds with facets.

58

A M I FA R O O Q U I THERE ARE THREE TYPES OF POLKIS The Syndicate is one of the best qualities and are 100% natural organic in the raw form with a flat base and with a faceted dome on the top. These diamonds are thick in size. However, it’s very important not to confuse Syndicates with synthetic and artificial Polkis.

Zimbabwe – The Zimbabwe Polki comes from Zimbabwe in Africa, and is of good quality, and thicker; it comes in light and dark range of colours. These are expensive and free from filled chemicals. Kilwas – These originated in the Kilwa region in Tanzania. The colour is more rustic, with some lower quality diamonds being very clouded. Polkis have a unique style. Unlike gemstones like rubies, emeralds and other stones that go polished diamonds, which go through a process of cutting, polishing, and other treatments, Polkis are closest to being organic. Polki are usually cut to follow the original size of the stone. Some of the common cuts are:

Rose cut: a flat base dome shape with facets on top resembling a rose. Table cut: a square shape with a flat base. Kite cut: a diamond shaped cut. Round cut: a round top with a flat base Oval cut: a flat top and faceted base Pearl cut: a tear drop. English Polkis are uncut with a slightly domed upward shape, commonly found in antique jewellery.

59

A Persian scholar named Al Biruni, who visited India in 1020 A.D., noted what the cutter used as a tool, was called emery, to polish the surface of the raw stones and jewellery. Till this day, emery is used in the initial stages of polishing in jewellery. Polki diamonds don’t have a specific grading system like other gemstones and is valued on 2C’s namely colour and charity. The colour of the Polki is the most important aspect that effects the price. These are from brown to yellowish, but the most valuable are white and off-white colours. The clarity is to determine the inclusion ratio. An inclusion free Polki is rare and expensive. Polkis are valued based more on clarity rather than the carat weight. However, in today’s world, with technology and new inventions in methods to treatment of gemstones, Polkis are too being treated.

Polki diamonds are natural, unpolished, and uncut diamonds, not uniform in shape and size. As often two Polki’s are not of the same size, setting them can be tricky. The open setting is relatively modern as it reduces workmanship, as the word open refers to the setting and does not use any metal work at the rear of the stone. Close or Kundan setting is one of the oldest forms. The setting is in gold /silver using a foil base and filled with lac. These have intricate work surrounded with Meena Kari work that uses different colours and a special craftsmanship.

60

How to clean and store Polki diamonds: It’s important to keep all precious gemstones, particularly Polkis, away from direct exposure to perfumes and creams. It’s advisable not to wash Polkis in water as moisture can sometimes cloud them. If cleaning Polkis at home, do so with the help of an old-style eraser (not the plastic rubber. Lint free clothes can also be used to clean. It’s important to store jewellery in plastic boxes, rather than in those fancy velvet boxes, as over a period, it may start to get dull and turn black (especially Polkis and gold). The hub of Polki diamonds in India, is in the city of Bikaner in Rajasthan, which has a long history of diamond cutting and craftsmanship for jewellery.

Polki diamonds hold great significance in Indian culture as they are believed to bring prosperity, good health, and happiness. Polki diamonds are passed down from one generation to another, thereby becoming heirlooms in many families. Ancient jewellery has always held significant cultural symbolisms. For example, In China, jade jewellery symbolises wealth and immortality, while in Japan, gold silver jewellery with intricate design represented nature inspiration. Egyptian jewellery was often crafted with gold, silver and semi-precious stones, symbolising growth and wealth, reflecting a blend of religious, cultural, and cosmic beliefs. Greek and Roman jewellery was highly ornate, featuring intricate craftsmanship with precious stones and semi-precious stones, inspired by mythology, astrology, and religion.

It had several and various precious gemstones like sapphires and diamonds, and pearls, along with Polki diamonds. The Mughals developed and influenced the design and craftsmanship of jewellery in India, and many techniques and style developed during that era, are still popular and in use in the present day. During the Nizam era in Hyderabad, the Nizam was known for his opulent lifestyle and exquisite taste in jewellery. His collection had some of the most magnificent jewellery with many pieces using Polki diamonds of the highest qualities. The Al Thani collection in Qatar, which includes antique jewellery from around the world, has, in the present day, one of the most magnificent collections of Polkis of outstanding quality.

Historically in the Mughul era, Polkis were not just used in jewellery but were used in daggers, plates, chessboards, etc. During that period, India played a very significant role in popularising Polki. One of the most famous examples of the Mughul’s love for Polki was the “Peacock Throne”, that was commissioned by Shah Jahan in the 17th century.

In the world of jewellery, Polki diamonds shine as a testament to the artistry of the past and the allure of the present and treasure of the future, reminding us that true beauty is timeless! instagram @zaksjewelleryofficial 61

DAZAT QATAR From a childhood fascination with traditional recipes to a homegrown beauty brand reaching customers beyond Qatar, Dazat Qatar reflects a journey shaped by passion, care and a deep appreciation for the rituals of personal beauty.

S

ome stories begin with a business plan. Others begin much earlier, with a passion nurtured during childhood.

For Dazat Qatar, that passion belonged to its founder, Sabah Al Obaidi, whose early interest in traditional recipes and personal care eventually grew into the foundation of a distinctive beauty and wellness brand. In 2013, Dazat Qatar began its journey in the State of Qatar, coinciding with Sabah Al Obaidi’s studies in Unani medicine at Hamdard University in New Delhi. From its beginnings in Qatar, the brand has developed a diverse range of personal-care and beauty products for both women and men, with a particular focus on skincare, body care and hair care. Today, its story has extended beyond its local roots, reaching customers across the Arab world and the United States.

63

INSPIRED BY TRADITION, DESIGNED FOR TODAY At the heart of Dazat Qatar is a simple belief: personal care is a personal experience, and it is the details that make the difference. For hair care, Dazat Qatar continues its connection with traditional ingredients through products inspired by Sidr, rice and seeds, including the Rice Seed Hair Mask and Sidr Al-Mashat Hair Mask.

Together, these categories represent the evolving world of Dazat Qatar, an assortment that allows customers to explore different aspects of personal care under one brand.

FROM QATAR TO A WIDER AUDIENCE While Qatar remains the starting point of the Dazat Qatar story, the brand’s journey has gradually expanded beyond its local market. The company profile highlights customers in different Arab markets and the United States, reflecting the brand’s growing reach and the appeal of its distinctive approach to personal care. Its journey has also included television interviews that have helped introduce the story of Dazat Qatar and its products to a wider audience.

This growing presence represents an important chapter in the brand’s development: a story that began locally and continues to reach customers across borders while retaining its connection to its Qatari beginnings.

BEAUTY WITH A STORY What makes Dazat Qatar particularly distinctive is the story behind the brand. It is a story that began with childhood curiosity, developed through study and experience, and evolved into a collection of beauty and personal-care products. Since its launch in Qatar in 2013, the brand has continued to build an identity around traditional inspiration, variety and attention to the personal-care experience. For Dazat Qatar, beauty is more than a collection of products. It is about the rituals, ingredients and details that become part of everyday life, and about creating a personal-care experience that carries the character of its origins.

From Qatar to customers around the world, Dazat Qatar continues to write its story, one beauty ritual at a time. 67

BENTLEY’S A New Evening at

Where Classic Dining Finds a New Expression!

M

ondays can be wonderfully productive, but as an Editor-in-Chief, they can also come with a whirlwind of meetings, deadlines and calls. By evening, I find myself craving something that makes the day feel a little better: good conversation, an elegant setting and, ideally, a classic platter of perfectly done roast. And I cannot think of a better place for that than Bentley’s Grill at the Radisson Blu Hotel Doha.

S GRILL This evening, I settled in with exactly that thought in mind, ready to let the pace of the day soften over dinner. The atmosphere, the anticipation of a beautifully prepared roast and the promise of an unhurried evening already felt like the right combination. But there was something refreshingly different in the air this time. The renewed interior and its sophisticated new touches brought a fresh energy to a setting I have always enjoyed. And then there was the roast.

An Evening Framed in Elegance I have been to Bentley’s Grill at the Radisson Blu Hotel Doha quite often, yet every visit seems to reveal a detail that mesmerizes me. The classic leather finish has always given the space its unmistakable sense of timeless luxury, while the new hint of lavender adds a softer, contemporary touch. I love how these contrasting details come together without ever feeling excessive. The new interior creates an inviting backdrop for an evening that feels polished and luxurious. There is a certain pleasure in entering a space that understands that luxury is often found in the details: the setting, the service, the pace and, most importantly, the feeling it leaves you with.

This time, the familiar setting seemed to have a new energy. The leather, the refined detailing and that unexpected lavender accent came together beautifully, creating the perfect backdrop for an evening that felt sophisticated but never overly formal. Perhaps that is one of the pleasures of living in Doha. With so many places constantly introducing something new, there is equal pleasure in returning somewhere familiar and seeing it through a different lens.

For me, Bentley’s Grill has always carried that sense of occasion. The refreshed surroundings simply give it a new expression.

71

The Theatre of the Table I have always believed that some of the most memorable dining moments happen before the first bite. Watching a beautifully prepared roast being carved tableside is one of them. The Prime Rib Roast is brought to the table and carved before being served, turning what could have been a classic dinner into a small piece of culinary theatre. There is something wonderfully timeless about it. No elaborate performance is needed; the craftsmanship speaks for itself. In a city as cosmopolitan as Doha, where dining constantly moves between contemporary innovation and international influences, I found this return to classic table service particularly charming.

72

A Classic Plate, Perfectly Composed The roast is served with roasted potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and seasonal vegetables, creating a generous plate that feels both comforting and refined. For me, the beauty of the experience is in this balance. The meal carries the warmth of traditional grill dining while the setting gives it a distinctly contemporary Doha character. It is the sort of food that invites conversation around the table rather than demanding attention from it. And perhaps that is what makes the evening memorable: the opportunity to slow down, enjoy good company and rediscover the pleasure of being present at the table.

Sunday Evenings, Done Differently

A Familiar Table, A New Story

Available every Sunday and Monday from 6:00 to 11:00 pm, the Prime Rib Roast arrives at an appealing point in the week. It gives Sunday and Monday evenings a little more ceremony, transforming them from ordinary nights into occasions worth anticipating.

Returning to Bentley’s Grill reminded me that evolution does not always require reinvention. Sometimes, it is about taking what already works and presenting it with renewed confidence.

At QR 250 per person, the experience brings together the roast, its accompaniments and the tableside presentation in a setting designed for lingering.

The new interior brings a fresh atmosphere. The tableside prime rib introduces a sense of theatre. And together, they create another chapter for a restaurant that has already found its place within Doha’s dining landscape.

I can easily imagine settling into the evening with friends, family or colleagues, allowing the pace of dinner to unfold naturally as Doha moves outside. It is a small reminder that a lifestyle worth enjoying is often built around these simple pauses: a beautiful setting, an unhurried meal and people worth sharing it with.

For me, this is what makes the experience compelling: it feels familiar enough to be comforting yet refreshed enough to give me a reason to come back and experience it all over again. In a city that is always moving forward, sometimes the most luxurious thing we can do is simply slow down for dinner.

ASAYA AT ROSEWOOD DOHA CHARTS A MORE SOCIAL FUTURE FOR WELLNESS September brings together Doha’s creative community, international wellness expertise and a first look at Rosewood’s new signature massage..

O

ne year after opening its doors at Rosewood Doha, Asaya is marking its first anniversary by returning to the idea at the heart of its creation: that wellbeing is not only personal, but something strengthened through the community. Since its launch on 1 September 2025, Asaya has offered a different perspective on urban wellness in Doha. Rather than separating movement, recovery, nutrition and social connection, the members-only social wellness club brings them into one environment designed around the rhythms of everyday life.

Throughout September, its anniversary program will reflect the wider wellbeing, bringing together the members who have shaped Asaya’s first year, Qatar’s creative community and visiting international experts.

“Asaya was created with the belief that wellbeing becomes more meaningful what it feels personal, relevant and connected to the way people live. It’s first year has been shaped by our members and by the sense of community that has grown around them. This anniversary gives us an opportunity to celebrate that collective while continuing to explore what wellness can become.”

Together, these encounters reveal the broader story of Asaya’s first year. Wellness is becoming less defined by occasional treatments and more closely integrated into how people move, recover, create and connect. In Doha, Asaya has interpreted that shift through a members’ club shaped by its community and the cultural context of the city around it.

Its first anniversary is therefore both a celebration and a point of reflection: on what Asaya has become over the past year, and on how a more personal, social and culturally connected approach to wellbeing may continue to develop in the region.

MARTA MARTIN, HOTEL MANAGER, ROSEWOOD DOHA Developed by de Gabriac as Rosewoods first global signature massage, the treatment moves away from a fixed sequence. Instead, it is guided by consultation, therapeutic touch, scent and sound, allowing the experience to respond to how each person feels at that particular moment. Asaya members will be the first in Doha to experience the treatment before it becomes available to a wider community.
